1 A nd these they the sons of Israel who inherited in the land of Canaan, whom Eleazar the priest, and Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel, caused to inherit;

هَذِهِ هِيَ المَناطِقُ الَّتِي أخَذَها بَنُو إسْرائِيلَ مِيراثاً فِي أرْضِ كَنْعانَ، الَّتِي قَسَّمَها ألِعازَرُ الكاهِنُ وَيَشُوعُ بْنُ نُونَ وَرُؤَساءُ قَبائِلِ إسْرائِيلَ لَهُمْ.

2 b y lot their inheritance, as Jehovah commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine of the tribes, and the half of the tribe;

وَقَدْ تَمَّ تَقسِيمُها بِالقُرْعَةِ، كَما أمَرَ اللهُ عَلَى فَمِ مُوسَى، لِلقَبائِلِ التِّسْعِ وَلِنِصْفِ قَبِيلَةِ مَنَسَّى.

3 f or Moses hath given the inheritance of two of the tribes, and of half of the tribe, beyond the Jordan, and to the Levites he hath not given an inheritance in their midst;

فَمُوسَى أعطَى لِقَبِيلَتَي رَأُوبَيْنَ وَجادَ وَلِنِصْفِ قَبِيلَةِ مَنَسَّى مِيراثاً فِي الجِهَةِ الشَّرقِيَّةِ مِنْ نَهْرِ الأُردُنِّ، لَكِنَّهُ لَمْ يُعطِ لِلّاوِيِّينَ مِيراثاً كَباقِي القَبائِلِ.

4 f or the sons of Joseph hath been two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim, and they have not given a portion to the Levites in the land, except cities to dwell in, and their suburbs for their cattle, and for their possessions;

وَبَنُو يُوسُفَ كانُوا قَبِيلَتَينِ هُما مَنَسَّى وَأفْرايمَ. وَلَمْ يُعطَ نَصِيبٌ مِنَ الأرْضِ لِلّاوِيِّينَ إلّا مُدُناً يَسكُنُونَ فِيها مَعَ مَراعِيهِمْ وَأغنامِهِمْ وَأبقارِهِمْ.

5 a s Jehovah commanded Moses, so have the sons of Israel done, and they apportion the land.

وَعَمِلَ بَنُو إسْرائِيلَ كَما أمَرَ اللهُ مُوسَى، فَقَسَّمُوا الأرْضَ. حِصَّةُ كالَبَ بْنَ يَفُنَّة

6 A nd the sons of Judah come nigh unto Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite saith unto him, `Thou hast known the word that Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses the man of God, concerning me and concerning thee in Kadesh-Barnea:

وَجاءَ بَنُو قَبِيلَةِ يَهُوذا إلَى يَشُوعَ فِي الجَلْجالِ، وَقالَ لَهُ كالَبُ بْنُ يَفُنَّةَ القَنِزِّيُّ: «أنتَ تَعرِفُ ما قالَهُ اللهُ لِمُوسَى رَجُلِ اللهِ عَنِّي وَعَنْكَ فِي قادَشَ بَرْنِيعَ.

7 a son of forty years I in Moses, servant of Jehovah, sending me from Kadesh-Barnea, to spy the land, and I bring him back word as with my heart;

كُنْتُ فِي الأربَعِينَ مِنْ عُمْرِي حِينَ أرسَلَنِي مُوسَى خادِمُ اللهِ مِنْ قادَشَ بَرْنِيعَ لاسْتِكشافِ الأرْضِ. وَقَدْ رَجِعْتُ وَقَدَّمْتَ تَقرِيراً صادِقاً بِحَسَبِ ما فِي قَلبِي.

8 a nd my brethren who have gone up with me have caused the heart of the people to melt, and I have been fully after Jehovah my God;

رِفاقِي الَّذِينَ ذَهَبُوا مَعِي سَبَّبُوا الخَوفَ لِلنّاسِ، وَأمّا أنا فَتَبِعْتُ إلَهِي مِنْ كُلِّ قَلْبِي.

9 a nd Moses sweareth in that day, saying, If not -- the land on which thy foot hath trodden, to thee it is for inheritance, and to thy sons -- to the age, for thou hast been fully after Jehovah my God.

وَأقسَمَ مُوسَى فِي ذَلِكَ اليَومِ وَقالَ: ‹الأرْضُ الَّتِي ذَهَبْتَ إلَيها سَتُصْبِحُ مِيراثاً لَكَ وَلِنَسلِكَ مِنْ بَعدِكَ إلَى الأبَدِ، لِأنَّكَ تَبِعْتَ إلَهِي مِنْ كُلِّ قَلْبِكَ.›

10 ` And, now, lo, Jehovah hath kept me alive, as He hath spoken, these forty and five years, since Jehovah spake this word unto Moses, when Israel went in the wilderness; and now, lo, I to-day a son of five and eighty years;

«وَالآنَ، ها قَدْ أبقانِي اللهُ حَيِّاً خَمْساً وَأربَعِينَ سَنَةً، مُنْذُ أنْ قالَ اللهُ لِمُوسَى هَذا، حِينَ كانَ بَنُو إسْرائِيلُ يُسافِرُونَ فِي البَرِّيَّةِ. وَالآنَ، ها أنا اليَومَ فِي الخامِسَةِ وَالثَّمانِينَ مِنْ عُمْرِي.

11 y et I to-day strong as in the day of Moses' sending me; as my power then, so my power now, for battle, and to go out, and to come in.

وَمازِلْتُ اليَومَ قَوِيّاً كَما كُنْتُ يَومَ أرسَلَنِي مُوسَى. وَما تَزالُ قُوَّتِي اليَومَ كَما كانَتْ فِي ذَلِكَ الوَقتِ. وما أزالُ مستعداً لِلحَربِ ولأيّةِ مَهَمَّةٍ أُخْرَى.

12 ` And now, give to me this hill-country, of which Jehovah spake in that day, for thou didst hear in that day, for Anakim there, and cities, great, fenced; if so be Jehovah with me, then I have dispossessed them, as Jehovah hath spoken.'

فَأعطِنِي هَذِهِ الأرْضَ الجَبَلِيَّةَ الَّتِي وَعَدَنِي اللهُ بِها فِي ذَلِكَ اليَومِ. لِأنَّكَ سَمِعْتَ فِي ذَلِكَ اليَومِ أنَّ العَناقِيِّينَ هُناكَ فِي مُدُنِهِمِ العَظِيمَةِ الحَصِينَةِ. فَإنْ كانَ اللهُ مَعِي فَإنِّي سَأطرُدُهُمْ كَما وَعَدَنِي.»

13 A nd Joshua blesseth him, and giveth Hebron to Caleb son of Jephunneh for an inheritance,

فَبارَكَ يَشُوعُ كالَبَ بْنَ يَفُنَّةَ وَأعطاهُ حَبْرُونَ مُلْكاً لَهُ.

14 t herefore hath Hebron been to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite for an inheritance unto this day, because that he was fully after Jehovah, God of Israel;

وَلِذَلِكَ صارَتْ حَبْرُونُ مِيراثاً لِكالَبَ بْنِ يَفُنَّةَ القَنِزِّيِّ وَنَسلِهِ إلَى هَذا اليَومِ، لِأنَّهُ أطاعَ اللهَ إلَهَ إسْرائِيلَ، مِنْ كُلِّ قَلْبِهِ.

15 a nd the name of Hebron formerly Kirjath-Arba (he the great man among the Anakim); and the land hath rest from war.

وَاسْمُ حَبرُونَ سابِقاً قَرْيةُ أرْبَعَ. وَكانَ أربَعُ أعظَمَ رَجُلٍ بَينَ العَناقِيِّينَ. وَبَعْدَ ذَلِكَ اسْتَراحَتِ الأرْضُ مِنَ الحَرْبِ.
