1 A nd the youth Samuel is serving Jehovah before Eli, and the word of Jehovah hath been precious in those days -- there is no vision broken forth.

وَخَدَمَ الصَّبِيُّ صَمُوئِيلُ اللهَ تَحتَ إشرافِ الكاهِنِ عالِي. وَفِي تِلكَ الأيّامِ لَمْ يَكُنِ اللهُ يَتَكَلَّمُ كَثِيراً إلَى النّاسِ بِشَكلٍ مُباشِرٍ. وَلَمْ يَكُنْ يُعطِي رُؤَى كَثِيرَةً لِلنّاسِ.

2 A nd it cometh to pass, at that time, that Eli is lying down in his place, and his eyes have begun to be dim -- he is not able to see.

وَضَعُفَتْ عَينا عالِي كَثِيراً حَتَّى صارَ أعمَى تَقرِيباً. وَفِي ذاتِ لَيلَةٍ ذَهَبَ إلَى غُرفَتِهِ لِيَنامَ.

3 A nd the lamp of God is not yet extinguished, and Samuel is lying down in the temple of Jehovah, where the ark of God,

وَكانَ المِصباحُ المُقَدَّسُ مازالَ مُشتَعِلاً، فَتَمَدَّدَ صَمُوئِيلُ فِي هَيكَلِ اللهِ حَيْثُ صُنْدُوقُ عَهْدِ اللهِ.

4 a nd Jehovah calleth unto Samuel, and he saith, `Here I.'

فَنادَى اللهُ صَمُوئِيلَ. فَقالَ صَمُوئِيلُ: «سَمْعاً وَطاعَةً.»

5 A nd he runneth unto Eli, and saith, `Here I, for thou hast called for me;' and he saith, `I called not; turn back, lie down;' and he goeth and lieth down.

وَرَكَضَ إلَى عالِي وَقالَ: «أنتَ نادَيتَ عَلَيَّ، فَسَمعاً وَطاعَةً.» لَكِنَّ عالِي قالَ: «أنا لَمْ أُنادِ عَلَيكَ، فاذْهَبْ وَنَمْ.» فَذَهَبَ صَمُوئِيلُ لِيَنامَ.

6 A nd Jehovah addeth to call again Samuel, and Samuel riseth and goeth unto Eli, and saith, `Here I, for thou hast called for me;' and he saith, `I have not called, my son, turn back, lie down.'

وَمَرَّةً أُخْرَى نادَى اللهُ: «يا صَمُوئِيلُ!» فَذَهَبَ صَمُوئِيلُ إلَى عالِي ثانِيَةً وَقالَ: «أنتَ نادَيتَ عَلَيَّ، فَسَمْعاً وَطاعَةً!» فَقالَ عالِي: «لَمْ أُنادِ عَلَيكَ. فاذْهَبْ وَنَمْ.»

7 A nd Samuel hath not yet known Jehovah, and the word of Jehovah is not yet revealed unto him.

وَلَمْ يَكُنْ صَمُوئِيلُ يَعرِفُ اللهَ بَعدُ، لِأنَّ اللهَ لَمْ يَكُنْ قَدْ أعلَنَ لَهُ كَلِمَتُهُ بَعْدُ.

8 A nd Jehovah addeth to call Samuel the third time, and he riseth and goeth unto Eli, and saith, `Here I, for thou hast called for me;' and Eli understandeth that Jehovah is calling to the youth.

فَنادَى اللهُ صَمُوئِيلَ لِلمَرَّةِ الثّالِثَةِ. فَنَهَضَ صَمُوئِيلُ وَذَهَبَ إلَى عالِي وَقالَ: «أنْتَ نادَيتَ عَلَيَّ، فَسَمعاً وَطاعَةً.» فَفَهِمَ عالِي أخِيراً أنَّ اللهَ كانَ يُنادِي عَلَى صَمُوئِيلَ.

9 A nd Eli saith to Samuel, `Go, lie down, and it hath been, if He doth call unto thee, that thou hast said, Speak, Jehovah, for Thy servant is hearing;' and Samuel goeth and lieth down in his place.

فَقالَ عالِي لِصَمُوئِيلَ: «اذْهَبْ لِلنَّومِ. وَإذا نادَى عَلَيكَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى، قُلْ: ‹تَكَلَّمْ يا اللهُ ، فَخَادِمُكَ يُصْغِي إليكَ.›» فَذَهَبَ صَمُوئِيلُ لِلنَّومِ فِي مَكانِهِ.

10 A nd Jehovah cometh, and stationeth Himself, and calleth as time by time, `Samuel, Samuel;' and Samuel saith, `Speak, for Thy servant if hearing.'

فَجاءَ اللهُ وَوَقَفَ هُناكَ، وَنادَى كَما فِي السّابِقِ: «يا صَمُوئِيلُ، يا صَمُوئِيلُ!» فَقالَ صَمُوئِيلُ: «تَكَلَّمْ يا اللهُ ، فَخَادِمُكَ يُصْغِي إليكَ.»

11 A nd Jehovah saith unto Samuel, `Lo, I am doing a thing in Israel, at which the two ears of every one hearing it do tingle.

فَقالَ اللهُ لِصَمُوئِيلَ: «أنا مُوشِكٌ أنْ أعْمَلَ فِي إسْرائِيلَ أعمالاً سَتَهُزُّ مَنْ يَسمَعُها.

12 I n that day I establish unto Eli all that I have spoken unto his house, beginning and completing;

سَأُحَقِّقُ كُلَّ الكَلامِ الَّذِي قُلْتُهُ عَلَى عالِي وَعائِلَتِهِ، مِنْ أوَّلِهِ إلَى آخِرِهِ.

13 a nd I have declared to him that I am judging his house -- to the age, for the iniquity which he hath known, for his sons are making themselves vile, and he hath not restrained them,

فَقَدْ أخبَرتُ عالِي أنِّي سَأقضِي عَلَى عائِلَتِهِ إلَى الأبَدِ. وَسَأفعَلُ ذَلِكَ لِأنَّهُ كانَ يَسمَعُ وَيَرى وَلَدَيهِ يُخطِئانِ إلَيَّ، فَلَمْ يُوقِفْهُما.

14 a nd therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli: the iniquity of the house of Eli is not atoned for, by sacrifice, and by offering -- unto the age.'

وَلِهَذا أقسَمتُ بِأنَّنِي لَنْ أقبَلَ أبَداً ذَبائِحَ وَتَقدِماتٍ تَكفِيراً عَنْ خَطايا عائِلَةِ عالِي.»

15 A nd Samuel lieth till the morning, and openeth the doors of the house of Jehovah, and Samuel is afraid of declaring the vision unto Eli.

وَاسْتَلْقَى صَمُوئِيلُ فِي فِراشِهِ إلَى أنْ جاءَ الصَّباحُ. ثُمَّ قامَ وَفَتَحَ أبوابَ بَيتِ اللهِ. وَخافَ صَمُوئِيلُ أنْ يُخبِرَ عالِي عَنِ الرُّؤيا.

16 A nd Eli calleth Samuel, and saith, `Samuel, my son;' and he saith, `Here I.'

لَكِنَّ عالِي قالَ لِصَمُوئِيلَ: «يا ابنِي صَمُوئِيلَ.» فَأجابَ صَمُوئِيلُ: «سَمعاً وَطاعَةً.»

17 A nd he saith, `What the word which He hath spoken unto thee? I pray thee, hide it not from me; so doth God do to thee, and so doth He add, if thou hidest from me a word of all the words that He hath spoken unto thee.'

فَسَألَ عالِي صَمُوئِيلَ: «ماذا قالَ لَكَ اللهُ؟ لا تُخْفِ شَيئاً عَنِّي. وَلْيُعاقِبْكَ اللهُ إنْ أخفَيتَ عَنِّي أيَّ شَيءٍ مِنْ كُلِّ ما قالَهُ لَكَ.»

18 A nd Samuel declareth to him the whole of the words, and hath not hid from him; and he saith, `It Jehovah; that which is good in His eyes He doth.'

فَأخبَرَهُ صَمُوئِيلُ بِكُلِّ شَيءٍ. وَلَمْ يُخفِ عَنهُ شَيئاً. فَقالَ عالِي: «هُوَ اللهُ. يَفعَلُ ما يَراهُ صَواباً.»

19 A nd Samuel groweth up, and Jehovah hath been with him, and hath not let fall any of his words to the earth;

وَكانَ اللهُ مَعَ صَمُوئِيلَ وَهُوَ يَكبُرُ. وَلَمْ يَسْمَحْ بِأنْ تَسْقُطَ كَلِمَةٌ واحِدَةٌ مِنْ كَلامِهِ.

20 a nd all Israel know, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba, that Samuel is established for a prophet to Jehovah.

فَعَرَفَتْ كُلُّ إسْرائِيلَ، مِنْ دانَ إلَى بِئْرِ السَّبعِ، أنَّ صَمُوئِيلَ استُؤمِنَ نبياً للهِ ،

21 A nd Jehovah addeth to appear in Shiloh, for Jehovah hath been revealed unto Samuel, in Shiloh, by the word of Jehovah.

وَظَلَّ اللهُ يَظهَرُ لِصَمُوئِيلَ فِي شِيلُوهَ. وَأعلَنَ نَفسَهُ لَهُ مِنْ خِلالِ كَلِمَةَ اللهِ.
