1 A nd it cometh to pass, in the coming in of David and his men to Ziklag, on the third day, that the Amalekites have pushed unto the south, and unto Ziklag, and smite Ziklag, and burn it with fire,

Cînd a ajuns David cu oamenii lui a treia zi la Ţiclag, Amaleciţii năvăliseră în partea de miazăzi şi în Ţiclag. Ei nimiciseră şi arseseră Ţiclagul,

2 a nd they take captive the women who in it; from small unto great they have not put any one to death, and they lead away, and go on their way.

după ce luaseră prinşi pe femei şi pe tot cei ce se aflau acolo, mici şi mari. Nu omorîseră pe nimeni, dar luaseră totul şi plecaseră.

3 A nd David cometh in -- and his men -- unto the city, and lo, burnt with fire, and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters have been taken captive!

David şi oamenii lui au ajuns în cetate, şi iată că era arsă; şi nevestele, fiii şi fiicele lor, fuseseră luate prinse.

4 A nd David lifteth up -- and the people who with him -- their voice and weep, till that they have no power to weep.

Atunci David şi poporul care era cu el au ridicat glasul, şi au plîns pînă n'au mai putut plînge.

5 A nd the two wives of David have been taken captive, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail wife of Nabal the Carmelite;

Cele două neveste ale lui David: Ahinoam din Izreel, şi Abigail din Carmel, nevasta lui Nabal, fuseseră luate şi ele.

6 a nd David hath great distress, for the people have said to stone him, for the soul of all the people hath been bitter, each for his sons and for his daughters; and David doth strengthen himself in Jehovah his God.

David a fost în mare strîmtroare, căci poporul vorbea să -l ucidă cu pietre, pentru că toţi erau amărîţi în suflet, fiecare din pricina fiilor şi fetelor lui. Dar David s'a îmbărbătat, sprijinindu-se pe Domnul, Dumnezeul lui.

7 A nd David saith unto Abiathar the priest, son of Ahimelech, `Bring nigh, I pray thee, to me the ephod;' and Abiathar bringeth nigh the ephod unto David,

El a zis preotului Abiatar, fiul lui Ahimelec:,, Adu-mi efodul!`` Abiatar a adus efodul la David.

8 a nd David asketh at Jehovah, saying, `I pursue after this troop -- do I overtake it?' And He saith to him, `Pursue, for thou dost certainly overtake, and dost certainly deliver.'

Şi David a întrebat pe Domnul:,, Să urmăresc oastea aceasta? O voi ajunge?`` Domnul i -a răspuns:,, Urmăreşte -o, căci o vei ajunge şi vei izbăvi totul.``

9 A nd David goeth on, he and six hundred men who with him, and they come in unto the brook of Besor, and those left have stood still,

Şi David a pornit, el şi cei şase sute de oameni cari erau cu el. Au ajuns la pîrîul Besor, unde s'au oprit cei ce rămîneau la coadă.

10 a nd David pursueth, he and four hundred men, (and two hundred men stand still who have been too faint to pass over the brook of Besor),

David i -a urmărit mai departe, cu patru sute de oameni; dar două sute de oameni s'au oprit, fiind prea obosiţi ca să mai treacă pîrîul Besor.

11 a nd they find a man, an Egyptian, in the field, and take him unto David, and give to him bread, and he eateth, and they cause him to drink water,

Pe cîmp au dat peste un om Egiptean, pe care l-au adus la David. I-au dat să mănînce pîne şi să bea apă,

12 a nd give to him a piece of a bunch of dried figs, and two bunches of raisins, and he eateth, and his spirit returneth unto him, for he hath not eaten bread nor drunk water three days and three nights.

şi i-au mai dat şi o legătură de smochine şi două legături de stafide. După ce a mîncat, i-au venit iarăş puterile, căci nu mîncase şi nu băuse apă de trei zile şi trei nopţi.

13 A nd David saith to him, `Whose thou? and whence thou?' And he saith, `An Egyptian youth I, servant to a man, an Amalekite, and my lord forsaketh me, for I have been sick three days,

David i -a zis:,, Al cui eşti, şi de unde eşti?`` El a răspuns:,, Sînt un băiat egiptean, în slujba unui Amalecit, şi de trei zile stăpînul meu m'a părăsit pentrucă eram bolnav.

14 w e pushed the south of the Cherethite, and against that which to Judah, and against the south of Caleb, and Ziklag we burned with fire.'

Am năvălit în partea de miazăzi a Cheretiţilor, pe ţinutul lui Iuda şi la miazăzi de Caleb, şi am ars Ţiclagul.``

15 A nd David saith unto him, `Dost thou bring me down unto this troop?' and he saith, `Swear to me by God -- thou dost not put me to death, nor dost thou shut me up into the hand of my lord -- and I bring thee down unto this troop.'

David i -a zis:,, Vrei să mă duci la oastea aceasta?`` Şi el a zis:,, Jură-mi pe Numele lui Dumnezeu că nu mă vei omorî şi nu mă vei da pe mîna stăpînului meu, şi te voi pogorî la oastea aceasta.``

16 A nd he bringeth him down, and lo, they are spread out over the face of all the earth, eating, and drinking, and feasting, with all the great spoil which they have taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah.

El i -a slujit astfel de călăuză. Şi Amaleciţii erau risipiţi pe tot ţinutul, mîncînd, bînd şi jucînd, de bucuria prăzii celei mari pe care o luaseră din ţara Filistenilor şi din ţara lui Iuda.

17 A nd David smiteth them from the twilight even unto the evening of the morrow, and there hath not escaped of them a man, except four hundred young men who have ridden on the camels, and are fled.

David i -a bătut din zorii zilei pînă a doua zi seara, şi n'a scăpat niciunul din ei, afară de patru sute de tineri, cari au încălecat pe cămile şi au fugit.

18 A nd David delivereth all that the Amalekites have taken; also his two wives hath David delivered.

David a scăpat astfel tot ce luaseră Amaleciţii, şi a scăpat şi pe cele două neveste ale lui.

19 A nd there hath not lacked to them, from small unto great, and unto sons and daughters, and from the spoil, even unto all that they had taken to themselves, the whole hath David brought back,

Nu le -a lipsit nimeni, dela mic pînă la mare, nici fiu, nici fiică, nici un lucru din pradă, nimic din ce li se luase: David a adus înpoi totul.

20 a nd David taketh the whole of the flock, and of the herd, they have led on before these cattle, and they say, `This David's spoil.'

Şi David a luat toate oile şi toţi boii; şi cei ce mînau turma aceasta şi mergeau în fruntea ei, ziceau:,, Aceasta este prada lui David!``

21 A nd David cometh in unto the two hundred men who were too faint to go after David, and whom they cause to abide at the brook of Besor, and they go out to meet David, and to meet the people who with him, and David approacheth the people, and asketh of them of welfare.

David a ajuns la cei două sute de oameni cari fuseseră prea obosiţi ca să mai meargă după el şi pe cari -i lăsase la pîrîul Besor. Ei au ieşit înaintea lui David şi înaintea poporului care era cu el. David s'a apropiat de ei, şi i -a întrebat de sănătate.

22 A nd every bad and worthless man, of the men who have gone with David, answereth, yea, they say, `Because that they have not gone with us we do not give to them of the spoil which we have delivered, except each his wife and his children, and they lead away and go.

Toţi oamenii răi şi de nimic dintre cei ce merseseră cu David au luat cuvîntul şi au zis:,, Fiindcă n'au venit cu noi, să nu le dăm nimic din prada pe care am scăpat -o, ci doar să-şi ia fiecare nevasta şi copiii, şi să plece.``

23 A nd David saith, `Ye do not do so, my brethren, with that which Jehovah hath given to us, and He doth preserve us, and doth give the troop which cometh against us into our hand;

Dar David a zis:,, Să nu faceţi aşa, fraţilor, cu ce ne -a dat Domnul; căci El ne -a păzit şi a dat în mînile noastre ceata care venise împotriva noastră.

24 a nd who doth hearken to you in this thing? for as the portion of him who was brought down into battle, so also the portion of him who is abiding by the vessels -- alike they share.'

Şi cine v'ar asculta în privinţa aceasta? Partea trebuie să fie aceeaş atît pentru cel ce s'a pogorît pe cîmpul de bătaie cît şi pentru cel ce a rămas la calabalîcuri; s'o împartă deopotrivă.

25 A nd it cometh to pass from that day and forward, that he appointeth it for a statute and for an ordinance for Israel unto this day.

Lucrul acesta a rămas de atunci şi pînă în ziua de azi o lege şi un obicei în Israel.

26 A nd David cometh in unto Ziklag, and sendeth of the spoil to the elders of Judah, to his friends, (saying, `Lo, for you a blessing, of the spoil of the enemies of Jehovah),'

Cînd s'a întors la Ţiclag, David a trimes o parte din pradă bătrînilor lui Iuda, prietenilor săi, spunîndu-le aceste cuvinte:,, Iată darul pe care vi -l fac din prada luată dela vrăjmaşii Domnului!``

27 t o those in Beth-El, and to those in South Ramoth, and to those in Jattir,

A trimes celor din Betel, celor din Ramot dela miază zi, celor din Iatir,

28 a nd to those in Aroer, and to those in Siphmoth, and to those in Eshtemoa,

celor din Aroer, celor din Sifmot, celor din Eştemoa,

29 a nd to those in Rachal, and to those in the cities of the Jerahmeelites, and to those in the cities of the Kenites,

celor din Racal, celor din cetăţile Ierahmeeliţilor, celor din cetăţile Cheniţilor,

30 a nd to those in Hormah, and to those in Chor-Ashan, and to those in Athach,

celor din Horma, celor din Cor-Aşan, celor din Atac,

31 a nd to those in Hebron, and to all the places where David had gone up and down, he and his men.

celor din Hebron, şi în toate locurile pe cari le străbătuse David cu oamenii lui.
