1 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying:

Cuvîntul Domnului mi -a vorbit astfel:

2 ` Son of man, set thy face unto mountains of Israel, and prophesy concerning them:

Fiul omului, întoarce-ţi faţa spre munţii lui Israel, prooroceşte împotriva lor,

3 A nd thou hast said: Mountains of Israel, Hear ye a word of the Lord Jehovah: Thus said the Lord Jehovah To the mountains, and to the hills, To the streams, and to the valleys, Lo, I, I am bringing in against you a sword, And I have destroyed your high places.

şi zi:, Munţi ai lui Israel, ascultaţi cuvîntul Domnului, Dumnezeu! Aşa vorbeşte Domnul Dumnezeu către munţi şi dealuri, către văgăuni şi văi:, Iată, voi aduce sabia împotriva voastră, şi vă voi nimici înălţimile.

4 A nd desolated have been your altars, And broken your images, And I have caused your wounded to fall before your idols,

Altarele voastre vor fi pustiite, stîlpii voştri închinaţi soarelui vor fi sfărîmaţi, şi voi face ca morţii voştri să cadă înaintea idolilor voştri.

5 A nd put the carcases of the sons of Israel before their idols, And scattered your bones round about your altars.

Voi pune trupurile moarte ale copiilor lui Israel înaintea idolilor lor, şi vă voi risipi oasele în jurul altarelor voastre.

6 I n all your dwellings the cities are laid waste, And the high places are desolate, So that waste and desolate are your altars, And broken and ceased have your idols, And cut down have been your images, And blotted out have been your works.

Pretutindeni pe unde locuiţi, cetăţile vă vor fi nimicite, şi înălţimie pustiite; altarele voastre vor fi surpate şi părăsite, idolii voştri vor fi sfărîmaţi şi vor pieri, stîlpii voştri închinaţi soarelui vor fi tăiaţi, şi lucrările voastre nimicite.

7 A nd fallen hath the wounded in your midst, And ye have known that I Jehovah.

Morţii vor cădea în mijlocul vostru, şi veţi şti că Eu sînt Domnul.

8 A nd I have caused to remain, In their being to you the escaped of the sword among nations, In your being scattered through lands.

Dar voi lăsa cîteva rămăşiţe dintre voi, cari vor scăpa de sabie printre neamuri, cînd veţi fi risipiţi în felurite ţări.

9 A nd remembered Me have your escaped among nations, Whither they have been taken captive, Because I have been broken with their heart that is going a-whoring, That hath turned aside from off Me, And with their eyes they are going a-whoring after their idols, And they have been loathsome in their own faces, For the evils that they have done -- all their abominations.

Şi cei ce vor scăpa din voi îşi vor aduce aminte de Mine printre neamurile unde vor fi robi, pentru că le voi zdrobi inima preacurvară şi necredincioasă, şi ochii cari au curvit după idolii lor. Atunci le va fi scîrbă de ei înşişi, din pricina mişeliilor pe cari le-au făcut, din pricina tuturor urîciunilor lor.

10 A nd they have known that I Jehovah, Not for nought have I spoken to do to them this evil.

Şi vor şti că Eu sînt Domnul, şi că nu degeaba i-am ameninţat că le voi trimete toate aceste rele.

11 T hus said the Lord Jehovah: `Smite with thy palm, and stamp with thy foot, And say: Alas, for all the evil abominations of the house of Israel, Who by sword, by famine, and by pestilence do fall.

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeu:, Bate din mîni, dă din picioare, şi zi:, Vai!` pentru toate urîciunile cele rele ale casei lui Israel, care va cădea lovită de sabie, de foamete şi de ciumă.

12 T he far-off by pestilence dieth, And the near by sword falleth, And the left and the besieged by famine dieth, And I have completed my fury upon them.

Cine va fi departe va muri de ciumă, şi cine va fi aproape va cădea ucis de sabie; iar cine va rămînea şi va fi împresurat, va pieri de foame. Aşa Îmi voi potoli urgia asupra lor.

13 A nd ye have known that I Jehovah, In their wounded being in the midst of their idols, Round about their altars, On every high hill, on all tops of mountains, And under every green tree, and under every thick oak, The place where they gave sweet fragrance to all their idols.

Şi veţi şti că Eu sînt Domnul, cînd morţii lor vor fi în mijlocul idolilor lor, împrejurul altarelor lor, pe orice deal înalt, pe toate vîrfurile munţilor, subt orice copac verde, subt orice stejar stufos, acolo unde aduceau tămîie cu miros plăcut tuturor idolilor lor.

14 A nd I have stretched out my hand against them, And have made the land a desolation, Even a desolation from the wilderness to Diblath, In all their dwellings, And they have known that I Jehovah!'

Îmi voi întinde mîna împotriva lor, şi voi face ţara deşartă şi pustie, dela pustie pînă la Dibla, pretutindeni unde locuiesc. Şi vor şti că Eu sînt Domnul.``
