1 N ow gather thyself together, O daughter of troops, A siege he hath laid against us, With a rod they smite on the cheek the judge of Israel.

Aber nun, du Kriegerin, rüste dich! denn man wird uns belagern und den Richter Israels mit der Rute auf den Backen schlagen.

2 A nd thou, Beth-Lehem Ephratah, Little to be among the chiefs of Judah! From thee to Me he cometh forth -- to be ruler in Israel, And his comings forth of old, From the days of antiquity.

Und du Bethlehem Ephrata, die du klein bist unter den Städten in Juda, aus dir soll mir kommen, der in Israel HERR sei, welches Ausgang von Anfang und von Ewigkeit her gewesen ist.

3 T herefore he doth give them out till the time She who bringeth forth hath brought forth, And the remnant of his brethren return to the sons of Israel.

Indes läßt er sie plagen bis auf die Zeit, daß die, so gebären soll, geboren habe; da werden dann die übrigen seiner Brüder wiederkommen zu den Kindern Israel.

4 A nd he hath stood and delighted in the strength of Jehovah, In the excellency of the name of Jehovah his God, And they have remained, For now he is great unto the ends of earth.

Er wird aber auftreten und weiden in der Kraft des HERRN und im Sieg des Namens des HERRN, seines Gottes. Und sie werden wohnen; denn er wird zur selben Zeit herrlich werden, soweit die Welt ist.

5 A nd this hath been peace, Asshur! when he doth come into our land, And when he doth tread in our palaces, We have raised against him seven shepherds, And eight anointed of man.

Und er wird unser Friede sein. Wenn Assur in unser Land fällt und in unsre Häuser bricht, so werden wir sieben Hirten und acht Fürsten wider ihn bestellen,

6 A nd they have afflicted the land of Asshur with the sword, And the land of Nimrod at its openings, And he hath delivered from Asshur when he doth come into our land, And when he treadeth in our borders.

die das Land Assur verderben mit dem Schwert und das Land Nimrods mit ihren bloßen Waffen. Also wird er uns von Assur erretten, wenn er in unser Land fallen und in unsre Grenzen brechen wird.

7 A nd the remnant of Jacob hath been in the midst of many peoples, As dew from Jehovah -- as showers on the herb, That waiteth not for man, nor stayeth for the sons of men.

Und es werden die übrigen aus Jakob unter vielen Völkern sein, wie ein Tau vom HERRN und wie die Tröpflein aufs Gras, das auf niemand harrt noch auf Menschen wartet.

8 Y ea, the remnant of Jacob hath been among nations, In the midst of many peoples, As a lion among beasts of a forest, As a young lion among ranks of a flock, Which if it hath passed through, Hath both trodden down and hath torn, And there is no deliverer.

Ja, die übrigen aus Jakob werden unter den Heiden bei vielen Völkern sein wie ein Löwe unter den Tieren im Walde, wie ein junger Löwe unter einer Herde Schafe, welchem niemand wehren kann, wenn er dadurch geht, zertritt und zerreißt.

9 H igh is thy hand above thine adversaries, And all thine enemies are cut off.

Denn deine Hand wird siegen wider alle deine Widersacher, daß alle deine Feinde müssen ausgerottet werden.

10 A nd it hath come to pass in that day, An affirmation of Jehovah, I have cut off thy horses from thy midst, And I have destroyed thy chariots,

Zur selben Zeit, spricht der HERR, will ich deine Rosse von dir tun und deine Wagen zunichte machen;

11 A nd I have cut off the cities of thy land, And I have thrown down all thy fortresses,

und will die Städte deines Landes ausrotten und alle deine Festen zerbrechen.

12 A nd have cut off sorcerers out of thy hand, And observers of clouds thou hast none.

Und will die Zauberer bei dir ausrotten, daß keine Zeichendeuter bei dir bleiben sollen.

13 A nd I have cut off thy graven images, And thy standing-pillars out of thy midst, And thou dost not bow thyself any more To the work of thy hands.

Ich will deine Bilder und Götzen von dir ausrotten, daß du nicht mehr sollst anbeten deiner Hände Werk.

14 A nd I have plucked up thy shrines out of thy midst, And I have destroyed thine enemies.

Und will deine Ascherabilder zerbrechen und deine Städte vertilgen.

15 A nd I have done vengeance in anger and in fury, With the nations who have not hearkened!

Und will Rache üben mit Grimm und Zorn an allen Heiden, so nicht gehorchen wollen.
