1 T he word that hath been unto Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, -- it the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, --

Cuvântul care a venit la Ieremia cu privire la tot poporul lui Iuda în al patrulea an de domnie al lui Iehoiachim, fiul lui Iosia, regele lui Iuda; era totodată primul an de domnie al lui Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului.

2 W hich Jeremiah the prophet hath spoken concerning all the people of Judah, even unto all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying:

Ieremia, profetul, a vorbit întregului popor al lui Iuda şi tuturor locuitorilor Ierusalimului şi le-a zis:

3 ` From the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah, and unto this day -- this three and twentieth year -- hath the word of Jehovah been unto me, and I speak unto you, rising early and speaking, and ye have not hearkened;

„Timp de douăzeci şi trei de ani – din anul al treisprezecelea al lui Iosia, fiul lui Amon, regele lui Iuda, şi până în ziua de azi – Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi eu vi l-am vestit iarăşi şi iarăşi, dar voi nu aţi luat aminte.

4 A nd Jehovah hath sent unto you all His servants, the prophets, rising early and sending, and ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear, saying:

Domnul i-a trimis iarăşi şi iarăşi pe toţi slujitorii Lui, profeţii, dar voi n-aţi ascultat şi nu v-aţi plecat urechea să luaţi aminte.

5 ` Turn back, I pray you, each from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell on the ground that Jehovah hath given to you and to your fathers from age unto age,

Ei au spus: «Întoarceţi-vă fiecare de la calea voastră cea rea şi de la răutatea faptelor voastre şi astfel veţi putea rămâne în ţara pe care Domnul v-a dat-o vouă şi strămoşilor voştri, din veşnicie în veşnicie.

6 A nd ye do not go after other gods to serve them, and to bow yourselves to them, nor do ye provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands, and I do no evil to you;

Nu vă duceţi după alţi dumnezei ca să le slujiţi şi să vă închinaţi înaintea lor. Nu Mă mâniaţi prin lucrarea mâinilor voastre şi astfel nu vă voi face nimic rău.»

7 A nd ye have not hearkened unto Me -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- so as to provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands for evil to you.

Dar voi nu M-aţi ascultat, zice Domnul, ci, prin lucrarea mâinilor voastre, M-aţi provocat la mânie şi v-aţi făcut rău vouă înşivă.

8 ` Therefore thus said Jehovah of Hosts, Because that ye have not obeyed My words,

De aceea, aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul Oştirilor: «Pentru că nu aţi ascultat de cuvintele Mele,

9 L o, I am sending, and have taken all the families of the north -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- even unto Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, My servant, and have brought them in against this land, and against its inhabitants, and against all these nations round about, and have devoted them, and appointed them for an astonishment, and for a hissing, and for wastes age-during.

voi strânge toate clanurile din nord, zice Domnul, şi pe slujitorul Meu Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, şi îi voi aduce împotriva acestei ţări, împotriva locuitorilor ei şi împotriva tuturor neamurilor de jur împrejur. Le voi distruge cu desăvârşire şi le voi preface într-o pricină de groază şi de batjocură, într-o ruină veşnică.

10 A nd I have destroyed from them the voice of rejoicing, and the voice of joy, voice of bridegroom and voice of bride, noise of millstones, and the light of lamps.

Voi face să le piară strigătele de bucurie şi strigătele de veselie, glasul mirelui şi al miresei, zgomotul râşniţei şi lumina lămpii.

11 A nd all this land hath been for a waste, for an astonishment, and these nations have served the king of Babylon seventy years.

Toată ţara aceasta va deveni un loc pustiu şi îngrozitor şi toate neamurile acestea vor sluji împăratului Babilonului timp de şaptezeci de ani.

12 ` And it hath come to pass, at the fulness of seventy years, I charge against the king of Babylon, and against that nation -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- their iniquity, and against the land of the Chaldeans, and have appointed it for desolations age-during.

Dar când se vor împlini cei şaptezeci de ani, îl voi pedepsi pe împăratul Babilonului şi pe neamul lui, ţara caldeenilor, pentru nelegiuirea lor, zice Domnul. O voi preface într-o ruină veşnică.

13 A nd I have brought in on that land all My words that I have spoken against it, all that is written in this book, that Jeremiah hath prophesied concerning all the nations.

Voi aduce peste ea toate lucrurile pe care le-am rostit împotriva ei, tot ce este scris în cartea aceasta, tot ce a fost profeţit de Ieremia împotriva tuturor neamurilor.

14 F or laid service on them -- also them -- have many nations and great kings, and I have given recompence to them according to their doing, and according to the work of their hands.

Căci ei vor fi înrobiţi de multe neamuri şi de regi puternici. Le voi răsplăti după faptele şi după lucrarea mâinilor lor.»“ Cupa mâniei Domnului

15 ` For thus said Jehovah God of Israel unto me, Take the wine cup of this fury out of My hand, and thou hast caused all the nations to drink it unto whom I am sending thee;

„Aşa mi-a vorbit Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel: «Ia din mâna Mea această cupă plină cu vinul mâniei Mele şi dă-l să-l bea la toate neamurile la care te trimit.

16 A nd they have drunk, and shaken themselves and shewn themselves foolish, because of the sword that I am sending among them.

Când îl vor bea, vor ameţi şi vor fi ca nişte nebuni la vederea sabiei pe care o voi trimite printre ei.»

17 ` And I take the cup out of the hand of Jehovah, and cause all the nations to drink unto whom Jehovah sent me:

Eu am luat cupa din mâna Domnului ca să le dau să bea tuturor neamurilor la care m-a trimis Domnul:

18 J erusalem, and the cities of Judah, And its kings, its heads, To give them to waste, to astonishment, To hissing, and to reviling, as this day.

Ierusalimului şi cetăţilor lui Iuda, regilor şi conducătorilor lui, ca să le prefacă în ruină, într-o pricină de groază, de batjocură şi de blestem, ca în ziua de azi;

19 P haraoh king of Egypt, and his servants, And his heads, and all his people,

lui Faraon, monarhul Egiptului, slujitorilor lui, conducătorilor lui, întregului său popor

20 A nd all the mixed people, And all the kings of the land of Uz, And all the kings of the land of the Philistines, And Ashkelon, and Gazzah, and Ekron, And the remnant of Ashdod,

şi întregului amestec de popoare de acolo, tuturor regilor ţării Uţ, tuturor regilor filistenilor, – cei ai Aşchelonului, ai Gazei, ai Ekronului şi ai rămăşiţei Aşdodului –,

21 E dom, and Moab, and the sons of Ammon,

Edomului, Moabului şi fiilor lui Amon;

22 A nd all the kings of Tyre, And all the kings of Zidon, And the kings of the isle that beyond the sea,

tuturor regilor Tirului şi Sidonului, regilor ostroavelor de dincolo de mare;

23 D edan, and Tema, and Buz, And all cutting the corners,

Dedanului, Temei, Buzului şi tuturor celor ce îşi rad colţurile bărbii;

24 A nd all the kings of Arabia, And all the kings of the mixed people, Who are dwelling in the wilderness,

tuturor regilor Arabiei şi tuturor regilor amestecului de popoare care locuiesc în pustie;

25 A nd all the kings of Zimri, And all the kings of Elam, And all the kings of Media,

tuturor regilor Zimrei, tuturor regilor Elamului şi Mediei;

26 A nd all the kings of the north, The near and the far off, one unto another, And all the kingdoms of the earth, That on the face of the ground, And king Sheshach drinketh after them.

tuturor regilor din nord, de aproape şi de departe, şi unora şi altora, tuturor regatelor de pe faţa pământului. După ei va bea şi împăratul Şeşakului.

27 A nd thou hast said unto them: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts God of Israel, Drink ye, yea drink abundantly, And vomit, and fall, and rise not, Because of the sword that I am sending among you.

Să le spui că aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel: «Beţi, îmbătaţi-vă, vomaţi şi cădeţi fără să vă mai ridicaţi la vederea sabiei pe care o voi trimite în mijlocul vostru!»

28 A nd it hath come to pass, When they refuse to receive the cup out of thy hand to drink, That thou hast said unto them: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, Ye do certainly drink.

Dacă vor refuza să ia cupa din mâna ta şi s-o bea, să le spui că aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor: «O veţi bea cu siguranţă!

29 F or lo, in the city over which My name is called, I am beginning to do evil, And ye -- ye are entirely acquitted! Ye are not acquitted, for a sword I am proclaiming, For all inhabitants of the land, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts.

Căci iată, încep să aduc nenorocirea în cetatea peste care este chemat Numele Meu! Şi voi să rămâneţi nepedepsiţi?! Nu veţi rămâne nepedepsiţi, căci voi chema sabia împotriva tuturor locuitorilor pământului, zice Domnul Oştirilor.»

30 A nd thou, thou dost prophesy unto them all these words, and hast said unto them: Jehovah from the high place doth roar, And from His holy habitation giveth forth His voice, He surely roareth for His habitation, A shout as of treaders down, God answereth all the inhabitants of the land,

Iar tu, să profeţeşti împotriva lor toate aceste cuvinte şi să le spui: « Domnul va răcni de pe înălţimi, va face să-i răsune glasul din Locaşul Său cel sfânt şi va răcni puternic împotriva locuinţei Sale. Va striga împotriva tuturor locuitorilor pământului asemenea celor ce calcă în picioare strugurii.

31 W asting hath come unto the end of the earth, For a controversy hath Jehovah with nations, He hath executed judgment for all flesh, The wicked! He hath given them to the sword, An affirmation of Jehovah.

Vuietul va ajunge până la capătul pământului, căci Domnul se ceartă cu neamurile; El intră la judecată cu orice om şi-i dă pe cei răi pradă sabiei, zice Domnul.»“

32 T hus said Jehovah of Hosts: Lo, evil is going out from nation to nation, And a great whirlwind is stirred up from the sides of the earth.

„Aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor: «Iată, nenorocirea se răspândeşte de la un neam la altul, şi de la capătul pământului se ridică o mare furtună.»

33 A nd the pierced of Jehovah have been in that day, From the end of the earth even unto the end of the earth, They are not lamented, nor gathered, nor buried, For dung on the face of the ground they are.

În ziua aceea, cei pe care-i va ucide Domnul vor fi peste tot – de la un capăt al pământului la celălalt. Nu vor fi nici jeliţi, nici adunaţi, nici îngropaţi, ci vor fi un gunoi pe faţa pământului.

34 H owl, ye shepherds, and cry, And roll yourselves, ye honourable of the flock, For full have been your days, For slaughtering, and your scatterings, And ye have fallen as a desirable vessel.

«Bociţi şi strigaţi, voi, păstori! Tăvăliţi-vă în cenuşă, voi, conducători ai turmei, căci a venit ziua să fiţi înjunghiaţi; veţi zăcea împrăştiaţi şi căzuţi la pământ asemenea fărâmiţelor unui vas preţios.»

35 A nd perished hath refuge from the shepherds, And escape from the honourable of the flock.

Nu mai este nici o scăpare pentru păstori, nici un loc de refugiu pentru conducătorii turmei!

36 A voice of the cry of the shepherds, And a howling of the honourable of the flock, For Jehovah is spoiling their pasture.

Se aud strigătele păstorilor şi bocetele conducătorilor turmei, căci Domnul le distruge păşunea.

37 A nd the peaceable habitations have been cut down, Because of the fierceness of the anger of Jehovah.

Ţarcurile lor liniştite sunt devastate de mânia aprigă a Domnului.

38 H e hath forsaken, as a young lion, His covert, Surely their land hath become a desolation, Because of the oppressing fierceness, And because of the fierceness of His anger!

Ca un pui de leu, El Şi-a părăsit vizuina, aşa că ţara a devenit o pustie din cauza sabiei nimicitorului şi a mâniei aprinse a Domnului.“
