1 T he word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, in the days of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, saying:

Iată Cuvântul care a venit la Ieremia din partea Domnului pe vremea lui Iehoiachim, fiul lui Iosia, regele lui Iuda:

2 ` Go unto the house of the Rechabites, and thou hast spoken with them, and brought them into the house of Jehovah, unto one of the chambers, and caused them to drink wine.'

„Du-te la familia recabiţilor, vorbeşte cu ei şi invită-i într-una din odăile din afara Casei Domnului; apoi dă-le să bea vin.“

3 A nd I take Jaazaniah son of Jeremiah, son of Habazziniah, and his brethren, and all his sons, and all the house of the Rechabites,

L-am luat pe Iaazania, fiul lui Ieremia, fiul lui Habaţinia, pe toţi fraţii săi şi pe toţi copiii săi – întreaga familie a recabiţilor –

4 a nd bring them into the house of Jehovah, unto the chamber of the sons of Hanan son of Igdaliah, a man of God, that near to the chamber of the princes, that above the chamber of Maaseiah son of Shallum, keeper of the threshold;

şi i-am adus în Casa Domnului, în odaia fiilor lui Hanan, fiul lui Igdalia, omul lui Dumnezeu. Aceasta era chiar lângă odaia conducătorilor şi deasupra odăii uşierului Maaseia, fiul lui Şalum.

5 a nd I put before the sons of the house of the Rechabites goblets full of wine, and cups, and I say unto them, Drink ye wine.

Am pus înaintea familiei recabiţilor nişte vase pline cu vin şi câteva cupe şi le-am zis: – Beţi vin!

6 A nd they say, `We do not drink wine: for Jonadab son of Rechab, our father, charged us, saying, Ye do not drink wine, ye and your sons -- unto the age;

Dar ei mi-au răspuns: – Noi nu bem vin deoarece strămoşul nostru Ionadab, fiul lui Recab, ne-a dat următoarea poruncă: „Să nu beţi niciodată vin, nici voi, nici fiii voştri.

7 a nd a house ye do not build, and seed ye do not sow, and a vineyard ye do not plant, nor have ye any; for in tents do ye dwell all your days, that ye may live many days on the face of the ground whither ye are sojourning.

De asemenea să nu zidiţi case, să nu însămânţaţi şi să nu plantaţi vii. Să nu aveţi nimic din toate acestea, ci să locuiţi în corturi toată viaţa voastră. Astfel veţi trăi multă vreme în ţara în care sunteţi străini!“

8 ` And we hearken to the voice of Jonadab son of Rechab, our father, to all that he commanded us, not to drink wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, and our daughters;

Noi am ascultat de toate poruncile pe care ni le-a dat strămoşul nostru Ionadab, fiul lui Recab, astfel că nici noi, nici soţiile noastre, nici fiii şi nici fiicele noastre nu bem vin,

9 n or to build houses for our dwelling; and vineyard, and field, and seed, we have none;

nu ne zidim case ca să le locuim şi nu avem nici vii, nici terenuri însămânţate,

10 a nd we dwell in tents, and we hearken, and we do according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us;

ci locuim în corturi şi ascultăm cu fapta de tot ce ne-a poruncit strămoşul nostru Ionadab.

11 a nd it cometh to pass, in the coming up of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon unto the land, that we say, Come, and we enter Jerusalem, because of the force of the Chaldeans, and because of the force of Aram -- and we dwell in Jerusalem.'

Dar, când Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, a invadat ţara, ne-am zis: „Haidem să ne ducem la Ierusalim ca să scăpăm de oştirile caldeenilor şi ale arameilor!“ Aşa se face că acum locuim în Ierusalim.

12 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah, saying: `Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel:

Cuvântul Domnului a venit la Ieremia şi i-a zis:

13 ` Go, and thou hast said to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem: Do ye not receive instruction? -- to hearken unto My words -- an affirmation of Jehovah.

„Aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel: «Du-te şi spune-le oamenilor din Iuda şi locuitorilor Ierusalimului astfel: ‘Nu vreţi să învăţaţi o lecţie şi să ascultaţi cuvintele Mele? zice Domnul.

14 P erformed have been the words of Jonadab son of Rechab, when he commanded his sons not to drink wine, and they have not drunk unto this day, for they have obeyed the command of their father; and I -- I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking, and ye have not hearkened unto Me.

Ionadab, fiul lui Recab, a poruncit urmaşilor săi să nu bea vin, iar aceştia păzesc porunca lui şi nu beau vin până în ziua de azi, căci ascultă de porunca strămoşului lor. Şi Eu v-am vorbit iarăşi şi iarăşi, dar voi nu M-aţi ascultat.

15 A nd I send unto you all My servants the prophets, rising early and sending, saying: Turn back, I pray you, each from his evil way, and amend your doings, yea, ye do not walk after other gods, to serve them, and dwell ye on the ground that I have given to you and to your fathers; and ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto Me.

I-am trimis la voi iarăşi şi iarăşi pe toţi slujitorii Mei, profeţii. Ei v-au spus: ‘Întoarceţi-vă fiecare de la căile voastre rele, schimbaţi-vă faptele şi nu mai umblaţi după alţi dumnezei ca să le slujiţi, ca astfel să locuiţi în ţara pe care v-am dat-o vouă şi strămoşilor voştri!’ Voi însă nu aţi luat aminte şi nu M-aţi ascultat.

16 ` Because the sons of Jonadab son of Rechab have performed the command of their father, that he commanded them, and this people have not hearkened unto Me,

Urmaşii lui Ionadab, fiul lui Recab, păzesc porunca pe care le-a dat-o strămoşul lor, dar poporul acesta nu Mă ascultă!’»“

17 t herefore thus said Jehovah, God of Hosts, God of Israel: Lo, I am bringing in unto Judah, and unto all inhabitants of Jerusalem, all the evil that I have spoken against them, because I have spoken unto them, and they have not hearkened, yea, I call to them, and they have not answered.'

„De aceea, aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul Oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel: «Iată, voi aduce peste Iuda şi peste toţi locuitorii Ierusalimului toate dezastrele pe care le-am rostit împotriva lor, pentru că le-am vorbit şi nu M-au ascultat, i-am chemat, dar ei nu au răspuns.»“

18 A nd to the house of the Rechabites said Jeremiah: `Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Because that ye have hearkened unto the command of Jonadab your father, and ye observe all his commands, and do according to all that he commanded you;

Atunci Ieremia a zis familiei recabiţilor: „Aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel: «Pentru că aţi ascultat poruncile strămoşului vostru Ionadab, pentru că aţi păzit toate instrucţiunile şi aţi împlinit tot ce v-a poruncit,

19 t herefore, thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Of Jonadab son of Rechab one standing before me is not cut off all the days.'

Ionadab, fiul lui Recab, nu va fi lipsit niciodată de un urmaş care să stea înaintea Mea, zice Domnul Oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel!»“
