1 I n the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, hath a word of Jehovah been unto Zechariah, son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, the prophet, saying:

În luna a opta, în cel de-al doilea an al domniei lui Darius, Cuvântul Domnului a venit la profetul Zaharia, fiul lui Berechia, fiul lui Ido, şi i-a zis:

2 ` Jehovah was wroth against your fathers -- wrath!

„ Domnul s-a mâniat foarte tare pe strămoşii voştri!

3 A nd thou hast said unto them, Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, turn back unto Me, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, And I turn back unto you, said Jehovah of Hosts.

Spune-le deci celor din popor că aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor: «Întoarceţi-vă la Mine, zice Domnul Oştirilor, şi mă voi întoarce şi Eu la voi, zice Domnul Oştirilor.

4 Y e shall not be as your fathers, To whom the former prophets called, saying: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, Turn back I pray you, From your evil ways and from your evil doings, And they did not hearken, Nor attend to Me -- an affirmation of Jehovah.

Nu fiţi ca strămoşii voştri, cărora le proclamau profeţii din vechime, zicându-le din partea Domnului Oştirilor: ‘Întoarceţi-vă de la căile voastre cele rele, de la faptele voastre cele rele!’ Ei n-au ascultat şi nici măcar nu Mi-au dat atenţie, zice Domnul.

5 Y our fathers -- where they? And the prophets -- to the age do they live?

Unde sunt acum strămoşii voştri? Cât despre profeţi, trăiesc ei oare veşnic?

6 O nly, My words, and My statutes, That I commanded My servants the prophets, Have they not overtaken your fathers, And they turn back and say: As Jehovah of Hosts designed to do to us, According to our ways, and according to our doings, So He hath done to us?'

Totuşi cuvintele şi hotărârile pe care le poruncisem slujitorilor Mei, profeţii, n-au atins ele, în cele din urmă, inima părinţilor voştri?» Atunci ei s-au întors şi au spus: « Domnul Oştirilor ne-a făcut aşa cum hotărâse să ne facă, ca urmare a căilor şi a faptelor noastre.»“ Prima viziune: omul dintre mirţi

7 O n the twenty and fourth day of the eleventh month, (it the month of Sebat,) in the second year of Darius, hath a word of Jehovah been unto Zechariah, son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, the prophet, saying:

În a douăzeci şi patra zi a lunii a unsprezecea, adică luna Şebat, în cel de-al doilea an al domniei lui Darius, Cuvântul Domnului a venit la profetul Zaharia, fiul lui Berechia, fiul lui Ido. Zaharia a zis:

8 I have seen by night, and lo, one riding on a red horse, and he is standing between the myrtles that in the shade, and behind him horses, red, bay, and white.

„M-am uitat în timpul nopţii şi iată că un bărbat era călare pe un cal roşu! El stătea între mirţii din vale, iar în urma lui erau cai roşii, bruni şi albi.

9 A nd I say, `What these, my lord?' And the messenger who is speaking with me saith unto me, `I -- I do shew thee what these.'

Eu am întrebat: – Ce sunt aceştia, stăpânul meu? Îngerul care vorbea cu mine mi-a zis: – Îţi voi arăta ce sunt!

10 A nd the one who is standing between the myrtles doth answer and say, `These they whom Jehovah hath sent to walk up and down in the land.'

Bărbatul care stătea între mirţi a răspuns: – Aceştia sunt cei pe care i-a trimis Domnul să străbată pământul.

11 A nd they answer the messenger of Jehovah who is standing between the myrtles, and say, `We have walked up and down in the land, and lo, all the land is sitting still, and at rest.'

Ei i-au vorbit îngerului Domnului, care stătea între mirţi, astfel: «Am străbătut pământul şi iată că tot pământul este liniştit şi în pace!»

12 A nd the messenger of Jehovah answereth and saith, `Jehovah of Hosts! till when dost Thou not pity Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, that Thou hast abhorred these seventy years?'

Atunci îngerul Domnului a întrebat: – Doamne al Oştirilor, până când nu vei avea milă de Ierusalim şi de cetăţile lui Iuda, pe care ai fost mânios în aceşti şaptezeci de ani ?

13 A nd Jehovah answereth the messenger, who is speaking with me, good words, comfortable words.

Domnul i-a răspuns cu vorbe bune îngerului care vorbea cu mine, cu vorbe de mângâiere.

14 A nd the messenger who is speaking with me, saith unto me, `Call, saying: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: I have been zealous for Jerusalem, and for Zion great zeal.

Apoi îngerul care vorbea cu mine mi-a zis: – Vesteşte şi zi că aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor: «Sunt gelos pentru Ierusalim, am o mare gelozie pentru Sion,

15 A nd great wrath I am wroth against the nations who are at ease, For I was a little wroth, and they assisted -- for evil.

dar sunt plin de mânie împotriva neamurilor care trăiesc fără grijă, căci Eu mă supărasem numai puţin însă ele au mărit nenorocirea!»

16 T herefore, thus said Jehovah: I have turned to Jerusalem with mercies, My house is built in it, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, And a line is stretched over Jerusalem.

De aceea, aşa vorbeşte Domnul: «Mă întorc cu milă spre Ierusalim: Casa Mea de acolo va fi rezidită, zice Domnul Oştirilor, iar frânghia de măsurat va fi întinsă peste Ierusalim!»

17 A gain call, saying: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, Again do my cities overflow from good, And Jehovah hath again comforted Zion, And He hath fixed again on Jerusalem.'

Vesteşte mai departe şi spune că aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor: «Cetăţile Mele se vor revărsa din nou de belşug! Domnul va mângâia iarăşi Sionul şi va alege din nou Ierusalimul!»“ A doua viziune: cele patru coarne şi cei patru artizani

18 A nd I lift up mine eyes, and look, and lo, four horns.

Atunci mi-am ridicat ochii, m-am uitat şi am văzut patru coarne.

19 A nd I say unto the messenger who is speaking with me, `What these?' And he saith unto me, `These the horns that have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.'

L-am întrebat pe îngerul care vorbea cu mine: – Ce înseamnă acestea? El mi-a răspuns: – Acestea sunt coarnele care au împrăştiat Iuda, Israelul şi Ierusalimul.

20 A nd Jehovah doth shew me four artizans.

Domnul mi-a arătat patru meşteşugari.

21 A nd I say, `What these coming in to do?' And He speaketh, saying: `These the horns that have scattered Judah, so that no one hath lifted up his head, and these come in to trouble them, to cast down the horns of the nations who are lifting up a horn against the land of Judah -- to scatter it.'

– Ce vin să facă aceştia? am întrebat eu. El mi-a răspuns: – Acelea sunt coarnele care l-au împrăştiat pe Iuda, astfel încât nici un om nu a mai putut ridica capul. Dar aceşti meşteşugari au venit să le sperie şi să taie coarnele neamurilor care şi- au ridicat cornul împotriva ţării lui Iuda, ca s-o împrăştie.
