1 I n the seventh, in the twenty and first of the month, hath a word of Jehovah been by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:

În a douăzeci şi una zi a lunii a şaptea, Domnul a vorbit prin profetul Hagai astfel:

2 ` Speak, I pray thee, unto Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and unto Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest, and unto the remnant of the people, saying:

„Vorbeşte-le lui Zerub-Babel, fiul lui Şealtiel, guvernatorul lui Iuda, lui Iosua, fiul lui Iehoţadak, marele preot, şi rămăşiţei poporului astfel:

3 W ho among you hath been left that saw this house in its former honour? And what are ye seeing it now? Is it not, compared with it, as nothing in your eyes?

«Cine a mai rămas dintre voi, care a văzut această Casă în slava ei de dinainte? Cum o vedeţi acum? Nu pare ea ca o nimica în ochii voştri?

4 A nd now, be strong, O Zerubbabel, An affirmation of Jehovah, And be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest, And be strong, all ye people of the land, An affirmation of Jehovah, And do ye -- (for I with you, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts) --

Acum însă, fii tare, Zerub-Babel, zice Domnul. Fii tare şi tu, Iosua, fiul lui Iehoţadak, marele preot! Fiţi tari şi voi, tot poporul ţării, zice Domnul, şi lucraţi! Căci Eu sunt cu voi, zice Domnul Oştirilor,

5 T he thing that I covenanted with you, In your coming forth from Egypt, And My Spirit is remaining in your midst, fear not.

potrivit promisiunii legământului pe care l-am încheiat cu voi la ieşirea voastră din Egipt. Duhul Meu rămâne în mijlocul vostru. Nu vă temeţi!

6 F or thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Yet once more -- it a little, And I am shaking the heavens and the earth, And the sea, and the dry land,

Căci aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor: ‘Peste puţină vreme, voi zgudui încă o dată cerul şi pământul, marea şi uscatul.

7 A nd I have shaken all the nations, And they have come the desire of all the nations, And I have filled this house honour, Said Jehovah of Hosts.

Voi clătina toate neamurile şi astfel bogăţiile tuturor neamurilor vor veni la Mine, iar Eu voi umple de slavă această Casă, zice Domnul Oştirilor.

8 M ine the silver, and Mine the gold, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts.

Al Meu este argintul, al Meu este aurul, zice Domnul Oştirilor.

9 G reater is the honour of this latter house, Than of the former, said Jehovah of Hosts, And in this place do I give peace, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts.'

Slava acestei Case din urmă va fi mai mare decât a celei dintâi, zice Domnul Oştirilor, iar în locul acesta voi aduce pace!’ zice Domnul Oştirilor.»“ Mustrări şi promisiuni

10 O n the twenty and fourth of the ninth, in the second year of Darius, hath a word of Jehovah been by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:

În a douăzeci şi patra zi a lunii a noua a celui de-al doilea an al domniei lui Darius, Cuvântul Domnului a venit la profetul Hagai şi i-a zis:

11 T hus said Jehovah of Hosts: `Ask, I pray thee, the priests the law, saying:

„Aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor: «Întreabă-i pe preoţi ce spune Legea:

12 L o, one doth carry holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and he hath come with his skirt against the bread, or against the pottage, or against the wine, or against the oil, or against any food -- is it holy?' And the priests answer and say, `No.'

dacă un om duce în poala hainei sale carne sfinţită şi atinge cu poala hainei sale pâine, bucate fierte, vin, ulei sau orice alt fel de mâncare, vor fi acestea sfinţite?»“ Preoţii au răspuns: „Nu!“

13 A nd Haggai saith, `If the unclean of body doth come against any of these, is it unclean?' And the priests answer and say, `It is unclean.'

Hagai a mai zis: „Dar dacă cineva, care este necurat prin faptul că s-a atins de un trup mort, atinge unul dintre aceste lucruri, va deveni el necurat?“ Preoţii au răspuns: „ Da, va deveni necurat!“

14 A nd Haggai answereth and saith, `So this people, and so this nation before Me -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- and so every work of their hands, and that which they bring near there -- it is unclean.

Atunci Hagai a zis: „Tot aşa este şi poporul acesta, tot aşa este şi neamul aceasta înaintea Mea, zice Domnul, şi tot aşa sunt toate lucrările mâinilor lor! Ceea ce-Mi aduc ei acolo ca jertfă este necurat!

15 A nd now, lay, I pray you, to your heart, From this day, and onwards, Before the laying of stone to stone in the temple of Jehovah.

Şi acum, uitaţi-vă cu atenţie la ceea ce se întâmplă începând de azi! Până să se fi pus piatră pe piatră la Templul Domnului,

16 F rom that time hath come to a heap of twenty, And it hath been ten, He hath come unto the wine-fat to draw out fifty purahs, And it hath been twenty.

cum era? Când cineva venea la o grămadă de douăzeci de măsuri de grâu, găsea doar zece, iar când venea la teascul de struguri pentru a scoate cincizeci de măsuri de vin, găsea doar douăzeci.

17 I have smitten you with blasting, And with mildew, and with hail -- All the work of your hands, And there is none of you with Me, An affirmation of Jehovah.

Am lovit toate lucrările mâinilor voastre cu filoxeră, mucegai şi grindină, dar tot nu v-aţi întors la Mine, zice Domnul.

18 S et, I pray you, to your heart, from this day and onwards, from the twenty and fourth day of the ninth, even from the day that the temple of Jehovah hath been founded, set to your heart.

Uitaţi-vă cu atenţie la ceea ce se întâmplă începând de azi, din a douăzeci şi patra zi a lunii a noua, din ziua în care a fost pusă temelia la Templul Domnului! Uitaţi-vă cu atenţie:

19 I s the seed yet in the barn? And hitherto the vine and the fig, And the pomegranate, and the olive-tree, Have not borne -- from this day I bless.'

mai este sămânţă în hambar? Până acum nici via, nici smochinul, nici rodiul şi nici măslinul n-au dat rod. Dar din ziua aceasta vă voi binecuvânta!“ Promisiunea Domnului făcută lui Zerub-Babel

20 A nd there is a word of Jehovah a second time unto Haggai, on the twenty and fourth of the month, saying:

Cuvântul Domnului a venit a doua oară la Hagai, în a douăzeci şi patra zi a lunii, şi i-a zis:

21 ` Speak unto Zerubbabel governor of Judah, saying: I am shaking the heavens and the earth,

„Vorbeşte-i lui Zerub-Babel, guvernatorul lui Iuda, şi spune-i: «Voi zgudui cerurile şi pământul,

22 A nd have overturned the throne of kingdoms, And I have destroyed the strength of kingdoms of the nations, And overturned chariot and its charioteers, And come down have horses and their riders, Each by the sword of his brother.

voi răsturna tronul regatelor, voi nimici puterea regatelor neamurilor şi voi răsturna carele de război şi pe cei ce le cârmuiesc; caii şi călăreţii lor vor cădea, fiecare prin sabia propriului frate!

23 I n that day -- an affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, I take thee, Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, My servant -- an affirmation of Jehovah, And have set thee as a signet, for on thee I have fixed, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts!

În ziua aceea, zice Domnul Oştirilor, te voi lua pe tine, robul Meu Zerub-Babel, fiul lui Şealtiel, zice Domnul, şi te voi face precum inelul cu sigiliu, căci pe tine te-am ales, zice Domnul Oştirilor.»“
