1 A nd Abraham old, he hath entered into days, and Jehovah hath blessed Abraham in all;

Авраам был уже стар, в преклонных годах, и Господь благословил его во всем.

2 a nd Abraham saith unto his servant, the eldest of his house, who is ruling over all that he hath, `Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh,

Авраам сказал старшему слуге в своем доме, который распоряжался всем, что у него было: – Положи руку мне под бедро

3 a nd I cause thee to swear by Jehovah, God of the heavens, and God of the earth, that thou dost not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanite, in the midst of whom I am dwelling;

и поклянись мне Господом, Богом неба и Богом земли, что ты не возьмешь моему сыну жены из дочерей хананеев, среди которых я живу,

4 b ut unto my land and unto my kindred dost thou go, and hast taken a wife for my son, for Isaac.'

но пойдешь ко мне на родину, к моей родне, и там возьмешь жену для моего сына Исаака.

5 A nd the servant saith unto him, `It may be the woman is not willing to come after me unto this land; do I at all cause thy son to turn back unto the land from whence thou camest out?'

Слуга спросил его: – Что, если та женщина не захочет идти со мной сюда, в эту землю? Что мне тогда делать, возвратить твоего сына в ту страну, откуда ты пришел?

6 A nd Abraham saith unto him, `Take heed to thyself, lest thou cause my son to turn back thither;

Авраам ответил: – Ни в коем случае не возвращай туда моего сына.

7 J ehovah, God of the heavens, who hath taken me from the house of my father, and from the land of my birth, and who hath spoken to me, and who hath sworn to me, saying, To thy seed I give this land, He doth send His messenger before thee, and thou hast taken a wife for my son from thence;

Господь, Бог неба, Который вывел меня из дома отца и из моей родной земли, Который говорил со мной и поклялся мне, сказав: «Я отдам эту землю твоему потомству», – Он пошлет Своего Ангела перед тобой, чтобы ты смог взять оттуда жену для моего сына.

8 a nd if the woman be not willing to come after thee, then thou hast been acquitted from this mine oath: only my son thou dost not cause to turn back thither.'

Если женщина не захочет идти с тобой, то ты будешь свободен от этой клятвы. Но не возвращай туда моего сына.

9 A nd the servant putteth his hand under the thigh of Abraham his lord, and sweareth to him concerning this matter.

Слуга положил руку под бедро своего господина Авраама и поклялся ему.

10 A nd the servant taketh ten camels of the camels of his lord and goeth, also of all the goods of his lord in his hand, and he riseth, and goeth unto Aram-Naharaim, unto the city of Nahor;

Потом слуга взял десять верблюдов своего господина и, нагрузив их лучшими подарками от него, отправился в путь. Он пошел в Арам-Нахараим, держа путь к городу, где жил Нахор.

11 a nd he causeth the camels to kneel at the outside of the city, at the well of water, at even-time, at the time of the coming out of the women who draw water.

Он опустил верблюдов на колени у источника за пределами города; это было под вечер, когда женщины приходят за водой.

12 A nd he saith, `Jehovah, God of my lord Abraham, cause to meet, I pray Thee, before me this day -- (and do kindness with my lord Abraham;

Он сказал: – О Господи, Бог моего господина Авраама! Дай мне сегодня успех и яви милость моему господину Аврааму.

13 l o, I am standing by the fountain of water, and daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water;

Вот, я стою у источника, и дочери горожан идут за водой.

14 a nd it hath been, the young person unto whom I say, Incline, I pray thee, thy pitcher, and I drink, and she hath said, Drink, and I water also thy camels) -- her Thou hast decided for Thy servant, for Isaac; and by it I know that Thou hast done kindness with my lord.'

Пусть будет так. Если я скажу девушке: «Пожалуйста, опусти кувшин с плеча, чтобы мне напиться», а она ответит: «Пей, а я напою и твоих верблюдов» – то ее Ты и назначил для слуги Твоего Исаака. Так я узнаю, что Ты явил милость моему господину.

15 A nd it cometh to pass, before he hath finished speaking, that lo, Rebekah (who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, wife of Nahor, brother of Abraham) is coming out, and her pitcher on her shoulder,

Еще он не кончил молиться, как Ревекка, дочь Бетуила, сына Милки, жены Авраамова брата Нахора, вышла к источнику с кувшином на плече.

16 a nd the young person of very good appearance, a virgin, and a man hath not known her; and she goeth down to the fountain, and filleth her pitcher, and cometh up.

Она была очень красивая девушка, девственница, которая еще не была с мужчиной. Она спустилась к источнику, наполнила кувшин и пошла обратно.

17 A nd the servant runneth to meet her, and saith, `Let me swallow, I pray thee, a little water from thy pitcher;'

Слуга поспешил ей навстречу и сказал: – Пожалуйста, дай мне немного воды из твоего кувшина.

18 a nd she saith, `Drink, my lord;' and she hasteth, and letteth down her pitcher upon her hand, and giveth him drink.

– Пей, господин мой, – сказала она и, быстро опустив кувшин на руки, дала ему напиться.

19 A nd she finisheth giving him drink, and saith, `Also for thy camels I draw till they have finished drinking;'

Когда он напился вдоволь, она сказала: – Я начерпаю воды и для твоих верблюдов, пока они не напьются.

20 a nd she hasteth, and emptieth her pitcher into the drinking-trough, and runneth again unto the well to draw, and draweth for all his camels.

Она быстро вылила воду из кувшина в поилку, побежала обратно к источнику зачерпнуть еще воды и начерпала для всех его верблюдов.

21 A nd the man, wondering at her, remaineth silent, to know whether Jehovah hath made his way prosperous or not.

Он молча наблюдал за ней, пытаясь понять, даровал ли Господь успех его путешествию.

22 A nd it cometh to pass when the camels have finished drinking, that the man taketh a golden ring (whose weight a bekah), and two bracelets for her hands (whose weight ten of gold),

Когда верблюды напились, тот человек вынул золотую серьгу для носа, весом в бека, и два золотых браслета, весом в десять шекелей,

23 a nd saith, `Whose daughter thou? declare to me, I pray thee, is the house of thy father a place for us to lodge in?'

и спросил: – Скажи мне, чья ты дочь? Нет ли у твоего отца в доме комнаты, чтобы нам переночевать?

24 A nd she saith unto him, `I daughter of Bethuel, son of Milcah, whom she hath borne to Nahor.'

Она ответила ему: – Я дочь Бетуила, сына Милки, которого она родила Нахору.

25 S he saith also unto him, `Both straw and provender abundant with us, also a place to lodge in.'

И добавила: – У нас вдоволь и соломы, и корма, и есть комната для ночлега.

26 A nd the man boweth, and doth obeisance to Jehovah,

Тогда он склонился и восславил Господа,

27 a nd saith, `Blessed Jehovah, God of my lord Abraham, who hath not left off His kindness and His truth with my lord; -- I in the way, Jehovah hath led me to the house of my lord's brethren.'

сказав: – Хвала Господу, Богу моего господина Авраама, Который не оставил без Своей милости и верности моего господина, потому что Господь привел меня прямо в дом к родне моего господина.

28 A nd the young person runneth, and declareth to the house of her mother according to these words.

Девушка побежала и рассказала обо всем в доме матери.

29 A nd Rebekah hath a brother, and his name Laban, and Laban runneth unto the man who without, unto the fountain;

У Ревекки был брат по имени Лаван, и он поспешил к тому человеку у источника.

30 y ea, it cometh to pass, when he seeth the ring, and the bracelets on the hands of his sister, and when he heareth the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, `Thus hath the man spoken unto me,' that he cometh in unto the man, and lo, he is standing by the camels by the fountain.

Как только он увидел серьгу для носа и браслеты на руках у сестры и услышал рассказ Ревекки о том, что сказал ей тот человек, он пошел к нему, а тот так и стоял с верблюдами у источника.

31 A nd he saith, `Come in, O blessed one of Jehovah, why standest thou without, and I -- I have prepared the house and place for the camels!'

– Пойдем к нам, благословенный Господом, – сказал Лаван. – Почему ты стоишь здесь снаружи? Я приготовил дом и место для верблюдов.

32 A nd he bringeth in the man into the house, and looseth the camels, and giveth straw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet, and the feet of the men who with him:

Тот человек вошел в дом, и верблюды были расседланы. Верблюдам принесли соломы и корма, а для него и его людей принесли воды, чтобы вымыть ноги.

33 a nd setteth before him to eat; but he saith, `I do not eat till I have spoken my word;' and he saith, `Speak.'

Перед ним поставили еду, но он сказал: – Я не стану есть, пока не расскажу о моем поручении. – Рассказывай, – ответил Лаван.

34 A nd he saith, `I Abraham's servant;

Он сказал: – Я – слуга Авраама.

35 a nd Jehovah hath blessed my lord exceedingly, and he is great; and He giveth to him flock, and herd, and silver, and gold, and men-servants, and maid-servants, and camels, and asses;

Господь щедро благословил моего господина, и он стал богат. Он дал ему мелкий и крупный скот, серебро и золото, слуг и служанок, верблюдов и ослов.

36 a nd Sarah, my lord's wife, beareth a son to my lord, after she hath been aged, and he giveth to him all that he hath.

Жена моего господина Сарра родила ему сына в старости, и он завещал ему все, что у него есть.

37 ` And my lord causeth me to swear, saying, Thou dost not take a wife to my son from the daughters of the Canaanite, in whose land I am dwelling.

Мой господин велел мне поклясться и сказал: «Не бери жены для моего сына из дочерей хананеев, в чьей земле я живу,

38 I f not -- unto the house of my father thou dost go, and unto my family, and thou hast taken a wife for my son.

но пойди к семье моего отца, к моей родне, и оттуда возьми жену для моего сына».

39 ` And I say unto my lord, It may be the woman doth not come after me;

Я спросил моего господина: «А что, если та женщина не пойдет со мной?»

40 a nd he saith unto me, Jehovah, before whom I have walked habitually, doth send His messenger with thee, and hath prospered thy way, and thou hast taken a wife for my son from my family, and from the house of my father;

Он ответил: «Господь, перед лицом Которого я хожу, пошлет с тобой Своего Ангела и дарует успех твоему путешествию, чтобы ты взял жену для моего сына из моей родни и из семьи моего отца.

41 t hen art thou acquitted from my oath, when thou comest unto my family, and if they give not to thee; then thou hast been acquitted from my oath.

Только тогда ты будешь свободен от этой клятвы, когда побываешь в доме моего отца, и если они откажут отдать ее тебе, тогда ты будешь свободен от клятвы».

42 ` And I come to-day unto the fountain, and I say, Jehovah, God of my lord Abraham, if Thou art, I pray Thee, making prosperous my way in which I am going --

Когда я сегодня пришел к источнику, я сказал: «О Господи, Бог моего господина Авраама, если бы Ты только даровал успех поручению, с которым я послан!

43 ( lo, I am standing by the fountain of water), then the virgin who is coming out to draw, and I have said unto her, Let me drink, I pray thee, a little water from thy pitcher,

Вот я стою у источника: если девушка выйдет начерпать воды, и я скажу ей: "Пожалуйста, дай мне попить воды из твоего кувшина",

44 a nd she hath said unto me, Both drink thou, and also for thy camels I draw -- she is the woman whom Jehovah hath decided for my lord's son.

– и если она скажет мне: "Пей, а я начерпаю воды и твоим верблюдам", – значит, ее-то Господь и назначил для сына моего господина».

45 ` Before I finish speaking unto my heart, then lo, Rebekah is coming out, and her pitcher on her shoulder, and she goeth down to the fountain, and draweth; and I say unto her, Let me drink, I pray thee,

Еще я не закончил молиться в сердце своем, когда вышла Ревекка с кувшином на плече. Она спустилась к источнику и зачерпнула воды, и я сказал ей: «Пожалуйста, дай мне напиться».

46 a nd she hasteth and letteth down her pitcher from off her and saith, Drink, and thy camels also I water; and I drink, and the camels also she hath watered.

Она быстро спустила кувшин с плеча и сказала: «Пей, а я напою и твоих верблюдов». И я напился воды, а она напоила верблюдов.

47 ` And I ask her, and say, Whose daughter thou? and she saith, Daughter of Bethuel, son of Nahor, whom Milcah hath borne to him, and I put the ring on her nose, and the bracelets on her hands,

Я спросил ее: «Чья ты дочь?» Она сказала: «Дочь Бетуила, сына Нахора, которого родила ему Милка». Тогда я дал ей серьгу для носа и браслеты на руки

48 a nd I bow, and do obeisance before Jehovah, and I bless Jehovah, God of my lord Abraham, who hath led me in the true way to receive the daughter of my lord's brother for his son.

и склонился и восславил Господа. Я восхвалил Господа, Бога моего господина Авраама, Который верной дорогой привел меня, чтобы взять внучку брата моего господина в жены его сыну.

49 ` And now, if ye are dealing kindly and truly with my lord, declare to me; and if not, declare to me; and I turn unto the right or unto the left.'

Итак, если вы окажете милость и верность моему господину, так и скажите мне, а если нет, тоже скажите мне, чтобы я знал, что мне делать.

50 A nd Laban answereth -- Bethuel also -- and they say, `The thing hath gone out from Jehovah; we are not able to speak unto thee bad or good;

Лаван и Бетуил ответили: – Это дело от Господа; не нам говорить тебе да или нет.

51 l o, Rebekah before thee, take and go, and she is a wife to thy lord's son, as Jehovah hath spoken.'

Вот Ревекка пред тобой; забирай ее и иди, и пусть она станет женой сына твоего господина, как определил Господь.

52 A nd it cometh to pass, when the servant of Abraham hath heard their words, that he boweth himself towards the earth before Jehovah;

Услышав эти слова, Авраамов слуга склонился перед Господом до земли.

53 a nd the servant taketh out vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and garments, and giveth to Rebekah; precious things also he hath given to her brother and to her mother.

Потом он вынул наряды, а также золотые и серебряные украшения и подарил их Ревекке; ее брату и матери он также дал дорогие подарки.

54 A nd they eat and drink, he and the men who with him, and lodge all night; and they rise in the morning, and he saith, `Send me to my lord;'

И он, и люди, что были с ним, ели, пили и остались ночевать. Когда на другое утро они поднялись, он сказал: – Отпустите меня, я хочу отправиться в путь к моему господину.

55 a nd her brother saith -- her mother also -- `Let the young person abide with us a week or ten days, afterwards doth she go.'

Но ее брат и мать ответили: – Пусть девушка останется с нами еще хотя бы десять дней; потом можешь идти.

56 A nd he saith unto them, `Do not delay me, seeing Jehovah hath prospered my way; send me away, and I go to my lord;'

Но он сказал: – Не задерживайте меня, раз Господь даровал успех моему поручению. Отпустите меня в путь, чтобы мне вернуться к моему господину.

57 a nd they say, `Let us call for the young person, and ask at her mouth;'

Они сказали: – Позовем девушку и спросим ее.

58 a nd they call for Rebekah, and say unto her, `Dost thou go with this man?' and she saith, `I go.'

Они позвали Ревекку и спросили: – Пойдешь с этим человеком? – Пойду, – ответила она.

59 A nd they send away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham's servant, and his men;

И они отправили в путь свою сестру Ревекку вместе с ее кормилицей, слугой Авраама и его людьми.

60 a nd they bless Rebekah, and say to her, `Thou our sister; become thou thousands of myriads, and thy seed doth possess the gate of those hating it.'

Они благословили Ревекку и сказали: – Сестра наша, да будут потомки твои исчисляться тысячами тысяч; да овладеет потомство твое вратами своих врагов.

61 A nd Rebekah and her young women arise, and ride on the camels, and go after the man; and the servant taketh Rebekah and goeth.

Ревекка и служанки собрались, сели на верблюдов и отправились за тем человеком. Так слуга взял Ревекку и отправился в путь.

62 A nd Isaac hath come in from the entrance of the Well of the Living One, my Beholder; and he is dwelling in the land of the south,

Исаак вернулся из Беэр-лахай-рои – он жил в Негеве –

63 a nd Isaac goeth out to meditate in the field, at the turning of the evening, and he lifteth up his eyes, and looketh, and lo, camels are coming.

и вот, вечером он вышел в поле, и поднял взгляд и увидел, что идут верблюды.

64 A nd Rebekah lifteth up her eyes, and seeth Isaac, and alighteth from off the camel;

Ревекка тоже подняла взгляд и увидела Исаака; она спустилась с верблюда

65 a nd she saith unto the servant, `Who this man who is walking in the field to meet us?' and the servant saith, `It my lord;' and she taketh the veil, and covereth herself.

и спросила слугу: – Кто этот человек в поле, что идет нам навстречу? – Это мой господин, – ответил слуга. Тогда она взяла покрывало и набросила на себя.

66 A nd the servant recounteth to Isaac all the things that he hath done,

Слуга рассказал Исааку обо всем, что он сделал.

67 a nd Isaac bringeth her in unto the tent of Sarah his mother, and he taketh Rebekah, and she becometh his wife, and he loveth her, and Isaac is comforted after his mother.

Исаак ввел Ревекку в шатер своей матери Сарры и взял ее в жены. Она стала его женой, и он полюбил ее; и так Исаак утешился после смерти матери.
