1 A nd the famine severe in the land;

В той земле по-прежнему свирепствовал голод.

2 a nd it cometh to pass, when they have finished eating the corn which they brought from Egypt, that their father saith unto them, `Turn back, buy for us a little food.'

Когда они съели все зерно, привезенное из Египта, отец сказал им: – Вернитесь и купите нам еще немного еды.

3 A nd Judah speaketh unto him, saying, `The man protesting protested to us, saying, Ye do not see my face without your brother with you;

Но Иуда сказал ему: – Тот человек нас строго предупредил: «Не показывайтесь мне на глаза, если с вами не будет вашего брата».

4 i f thou art sending our brother with us, we go down, and buy for thee food,

Если ты отпустишь с нами брата, то мы пойдем и купим для тебя еды.

5 a nd if thou art not sending -- we do not go down, for the man said unto us, Ye do not see my face without your brother with you.'

Но если ты не отпустишь его, мы не пойдем, потому что тот человек сказал нам: «Не показывайтесь мне на глаза, если с вами не будет вашего брата».

6 A nd Israel saith, `Why did ye evil to me, by declaring to the man that ye had yet a brother?'

– Зачем вы навели на меня эту беду, зачем сказали тому человеку, что у вас есть еще один брат? – спросил Израиль.

7 a nd they say, `The man asked diligently concerning us, and concerning our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye a brother? and we declare to him according to the tenor of these things; do we certainly know that he will say, Bring down your brother?'

Они ответили: – Тот человек подробно расспрашивал нас о нас самих и о нашей семье: «Жив ли еще ваш отец? Нет ли у вас еще одного брата?» Мы просто отвечали на его вопросы. Откуда нам было знать, что он скажет: «Приведите сюда вашего брата»?

8 A nd Judah saith unto Israel his father, `Send the youth with me, and we arise, and go, and live, and do not die, both we, and thou, and our infants.

Иуда сказал Израилю, своему отцу: – Отпусти мальчика со мной, и мы тотчас же отправимся, чтобы все мы выжили и не погибли: и мы, и ты, и наши дети.

9 I -- I am surety him, from my hand thou dost require him; if I have not brought him in unto thee, and set him before thee -- then I have sinned against thee all the days;

Я лично буду за него порукой; с меня лично ты спросишь за него. Если я не приведу его к тебе и не поставлю здесь перед тобой, я буду виноват перед тобой до самой смерти.

10 f or if we had not lingered, surely now we had returned these two times.'

Если бы мы не медлили, то могли бы пойти и вернуться уже дважды.

11 A nd Israel their father saith unto them, `If so, now, this do: take of the praised thing of the land in your vessels, and take down to the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices and myrrh, nuts and almonds;

Тогда их отец Израиль сказал им: – Если этого не избежать, то сделайте вот что: положите в сумки лучшие плоды этой земли и отнесите в дар тому человеку – бальзам и мед, специи и мирру, фисташки и миндаль.

12 a nd double money take in your hand, even the money which is brought back in the mouth of your bags, ye take back in your hand, it may be it an oversight.

Возьмите вдвое больше серебра, чтобы вам принести с собой и то, что было положено обратно в ваши мешки: возможно, это была ошибка.

13 ` And take your brother, and rise, turn back unto the man;

Возьмите и вашего брата и, не медля, идите снова к тому человеку.

14 a nd God Almighty give to you mercies before the man, so that he hath sent to you your other brother and Benjamin; and I, when I am bereaved -- I am bereaved.'

Пусть Бог Всемогущий дарует вам милость перед ним, чтобы он позволил и другому вашему брату, и Вениамину вернуться с вами. Что же до меня, то если мне суждено лишиться детей, пусть я лишусь. Второе прибытие братьев Иосифа в Египет

15 A nd the men take this present, double money also they have taken in their hand, and Benjamin; and they rise, and go down to Egypt, and stand before Joseph;

Они взяли подарки и вдвое больше серебра, затем взяли Вениамина, немедля отправились в Египет и предстали перед Иосифом.

16 a nd Joseph seeth Benjamin with them, and saith to him who over his house, `Bring the men into the house, and slaughter an animal, and make ready, for with me do the men eat at noon.'

Когда Иосиф увидел, что Вениамин с ними, он сказал своему управляющему: – Отведи этих людей ко мне в дом, заколи что-нибудь из скота и приготовь обед; они будут есть со мной в полдень.

17 A nd the man doth as Joseph hath said, and the man bringeth in the men into the house of Joseph,

Человек сделал, как ему было велено, и привел их в дом Иосифа.

18 a nd the men are afraid because they have been brought into the house of Joseph, and they say, `For the matter of the money which was put back in our bags at the commencement are we brought in -- to roll himself upon us, and to throw himself on us, and to take us for servants -- our asses also.'

Они испугались, когда их привели к нему в дом, потому что подумали: «Нас привели сюда из-за серебра, которое вернулось в наши мешки в первый раз. Он хочет напасть на нас, и одолеть, и взять в рабство, и забрать наших ослов».

19 A nd they come nigh unto the man who over the house of Joseph, and speak unto him at the opening of the house,

Они подошли к управляющему Иосифа и заговорили с ним у входа в дом:

20 a nd say, `O, my lord, we really come down at the commencement to buy food;

– Послушай, господин, – сказали они, – мы уже приходили сюда один раз купить еды,

21 a nd it cometh to pass, when we have come in unto the lodging-place, and open our bags, that lo, each one's money in the mouth of his bag, our money in its weight, and we bring it back in our hand;

но когда мы остановились на ночь и развязали мешки, каждый из нас нашел там свое серебро полным весом; поэтому мы принесли его обратно.

22 a nd other money have we brought down in our hand to buy food; we have not known who put our money in our bags.'

Мы принесли с собой и еще серебра, чтобы купить еды, и мы не знаем, кто в прошлый раз положил наше серебро к нам в мешки.

23 A nd he saith, `Peace to you, fear not: your God and the God of your father hath given to you hidden treasure in your bags, your money came unto me;' and he bringeth out Simeon unto them.

Он ответил: – Все в порядке, не бойтесь. Ваш Бог, Бог вашего отца, положил это сокровище в ваши мешки; а я получил ваше серебро. Затем он вывел к ним Симеона.

24 A nd the man bringeth in the men into Joseph's house, and giveth water, and they wash their feet; and he giveth provender for their asses,

Управляющий привел братьев в дом Иосифа, дал им воды вымыть ноги и дал корма их ослам.

25 a nd they prepare the present until the coming of Joseph at noon, for they have heard that there they do eat bread.

Они приготовили подарки к прибытию Иосифа в полдень, потому что им сказали, что они будут там обедать.

26 A nd Joseph cometh into the house, and they bring to him the present which in their hand, into the house, and bow themselves to him, to the earth;

Когда Иосиф пришел домой, они преподнесли ему подарки и склонились перед ним до земли.

27 a nd he asketh of them of peace, and saith, `Is your father well? the aged man of whom ye have spoken, is he yet alive?'

Он спросил их о здоровье, потом сказал: – А как ваш престарелый отец, о котором вы говорили мне? Жив ли он еще?

28 a nd they say, `Thy servant our father well, he is yet alive;' and they bow, and do obeisance.

Они ответили: – Твой раб, наш отец, еще жив и здоров. И низко поклонились из почтения к нему.

29 A nd he lifteth up his eyes, and seeth Benjamin his brother, his mother's son, and saith, `Is this your young brother, of whom ye have spoken unto me?' and he saith, `God favour thee, my son.'

Он оглянулся и увидел своего брата Вениамина, сына своей матери. Он спросил: – Это – ваш младший брат, тот, о котором вы говорили мне? Бог да будет милостив к тебе, мой сын!

30 A nd Joseph hasteth, for his bowels have been moved for his brother, and he seeketh to weep, and entereth the inner chamber, and weepeth there;

Глубоко тронутый видом брата, он поспешно ушел и искал укромного места. Он вошел к себе в комнату и там разрыдался.

31 a nd he washeth his face, and goeth out, and refraineth himself, and saith, `Place bread.'

Затем, умыв лицо, он вновь вышел, и овладев собой, сказал: – Подавайте еду.

32 A nd they place for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians who are eating with him by themselves: for the Egyptians are unable to eat bread with the Hebrews, for it an abomination to the Egyptians.

Ему подали отдельно, братьям отдельно и египтянам, которые ели с ним, отдельно, потому что египтяне не могли есть с евреями, это было мерзко для египтян.

33 A nd they sit before him, the first-born according to his birthright, and the young one according to his youth, and the men wonder one at another;

Братьев усадили перед ним по возрасту, от первенца до младшего, и они глядели друг на друга в изумлении.

34 a nd he lifteth up gifts from before him unto them, and the gift of Benjamin is five hands more than the gifts of all of them; and they drink, yea, they drink abundantly with him.

Им подавали кушанья со стола Иосифа, и доля Вениамина была впятеро больше, чем у других. Они пировали и пили с ним вволю.
