1 P raise ye Jah, give thanks to Jehovah, For good, for to the age, His kindness.

Воздайте хвалу Господу потому что Он благ и милость Его навеки!

2 W ho doth utter the mighty acts of Jehovah? Soundeth all His praise?

Кто выразит могущество Господа и возвестит всю Его славу?

3 O the happiness of those keeping judgment, Doing righteousness at all times.

Блаженны те, кто хранит правосудие и вершит праведные дела во все времена!

4 R emember me, O Jehovah, With the favour of Thy people, Look after me in Thy salvation.

Вспомни меня, Господи, во время благоволения к Своему народу, помоги и мне, когда будешь спасать их,

5 T o look on the good of Thy chosen ones, To rejoice in the joy of Thy nation, To boast myself with Thine inheritance.

чтобы я увидел благополучие Твоих избранных, возвеселился вместе с Твоим народом и хвалился – с Твоим наследием.

6 W e have sinned with our fathers, We have done perversely, we have done wickedly.

Мы согрешили, как и наши предки, совершили беззаконие, поступили нечестиво.

7 O ur fathers in Egypt, Have not considered wisely Thy wonders, They have not remembered The abundance of Thy kind acts, And provoke by the sea, at the sea of Suph.

Отцы наши не поняли Твоих чудес в Египте, забыли обилие Твоей милости и возмутились у моря, у Красного моря.

8 A nd He saveth them for His name's sake, To make known His might,

Он все же спас их ради Своего Имени, чтобы показать Свое могущество.

9 A nd rebuketh the sea of Suph, and it is dried up, And causeth them to go Through depths as a wilderness.

Он приказал Красному морю, и оно высохло, и провел Он их через его глубины, как по пустыне.

10 A nd He saveth them from the hand Of him who is hating, And redeemeth them from the hand of the enemy.

Спас их от рук ненавидящего их, избавил их от руки врага.

11 A nd waters cover their adversaries, One of them hath not been left.

Воды покрыли противников их, не осталось ни одного.

12 A nd they believe in His words, they sing His praise,

Тогда поверили они Его словам и воспели Ему хвалу.

13 T hey have hasted -- forgotten His works, They have not waited for His counsel.

Но вскоре забыли Его дела, не ждали Его совета.

14 A nd they lust greatly in a wilderness, And try God in a desert.

Возгорелись страстным желанием в пустыне и испытывали Бога в необитаемой местности.

15 A nd He giveth to them their request, And sendeth leanness into their soul.

Он дал им желаемое, но послал истощение в их души.

16 A nd they are envious of Moses in the camp, Of Aaron, Jehovah's holy one.

Они позавидовали Моисею в лагере и Аарону, святому Господню.

17 E arth openeth, and swalloweth up Dathan, And covereth over the company of Abiram.

Земля разверзлась и поглотила Датана и все скопище Авирама.

18 A nd fire burneth among their company, A flame setteth on fire the wicked.

Возгорелся огонь посреди них, и пламя сожгло нечестивых.

19 T hey make a calf in Horeb, And bow themselves to a molten image,

Они сделали изваяние быка в Хориве и поклонились истукану,

20 A nd change their Honour Into the form of an ox eating herbs.

променяли свою Славу на изображение быка, питающегося травой.

21 T hey have forgotten God their saviour, The doer of great things in Egypt,

Забыли Бога, своего Спасителя, сотворившего великие дела в Египте,

22 O f wonderful things in the land of Ham, Of fearful things by the sea of Suph.

чудеса в земле Хама и устрашающие дела у Красного моря.

23 A nd He saith to destroy them, Unless Moses, His chosen one, Had stood in the breach before Him, To turn back His wrath from destroying.

Поэтому Он сказал, что погубил бы их, если бы Моисей, избранный Его, не встал перед Ним в расселине, чтобы отвратить Его ярость, чтобы Он не погубил их.

24 A nd they kick against the desirable land, They have not given credence to His word.

И пренебрегли они землей желанной, не поверили Его обещанию,

25 A nd they murmur in their tents, They have not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah.

роптали в своих шатрах и не слушались голоса Господа.

26 A nd He lifteth up His hand to them, To cause them to fall in a wilderness,

Поэтому Он поклялся с поднятой рукой, что поразит их в пустыне,

27 A nd to cause their seed to fall among nations, And to scatter them through lands.

а также их потомков среди народов, и рассеет их по землям.

28 A nd they are coupled to Baal-Peor, And eat the sacrifices of the dead,

Они присоединились к Баал-Пеору и ели жертвы, принесенные бездушным.

29 A nd they provoke to anger by their actions, And a plague breaketh forth upon them,

Раздражали Его своими делами, и разразился среди них мор.

30 A nd Phinehas standeth, and executeth judgment, And the plague is restrained,

Но поднялся Пинехас, произвел суд, и мор прекратился,

31 A nd it is reckoned to him to righteousness, To all generations -- unto the age.

Это вменилось в праведность ему и всем его поколениям навсегда.

32 A nd they cause wrath by the waters of Meribah, And it is evil to Moses for their sakes,

Еще они прогневали Его у вод Меривы, и Моисей был наказан из-за них,

33 F or they have provoked his spirit, And he speaketh wrongfully with his lips.

потому что они возмутили его дух, и он погрешил своими устами.

34 T hey have not destroyed the peoples, As Jehovah had said to them,

Не уничтожили они народы, о которых сказал им Господь,

35 A nd mix themselves among nations, and learn their works,

а смешались с язычниками и научились их делам;

36 A nd serve their idols, And they are to them for a snare.

служили их идолам, которые стали для них сетью.

37 A nd they sacrifice their sons And their daughters to destroyers,

Приносили демонам в жертву своих сыновей и дочерей;

38 A nd they shed innocent blood -- Blood of their sons and of their daughters, Whom they have sacrificed to idols of Canaan, And the land is profaned with blood.

проливали невинную кровь, кровь своих сыновей и дочерей, которых жертвовали ханаанским идолам, и земля осквернилась кровью.

39 A nd they are defiled with their works, And commit whoredom in their habitual doings.

Они оскверняли себя своими делами, прелюбодействовали своими поступками.

40 A nd the anger of Jehovah Is kindled against His people, And He doth abominate His inheritance.

Поэтому возгорелся гнев Господень на Свой народ, и возгнушался Он Своим наследием.

41 A nd giveth them into the hand of nations, And those hating them rule over them,

Он отдал их в руки чужеземцев, и ненавидящие Израиль властвовали над ними.

42 A nd their enemies oppress them, And they are humbled under their hand.

Враги притесняли их, и они смирились под их рукой.

43 M any times He doth deliver them, And they rebel in their counsel, And they are brought low in their iniquity.

Много раз Он избавлял их, но они гневили Его своим упрямством и были унижены в своем беззаконии.

44 A nd He looketh on their distress When He heareth their cry,

Все же Он обращал внимание на их скорбь, когда слышал их вопль,

45 A nd remembereth for them His covenant, And is comforted, According to the abundance of His kindness.

вспоминал о Своем завете с ними и смягчался по Своей великой милости.

46 A nd He appointeth them for mercies Before all their captors.

Он вызывал к ним сострадание со стороны всех, кто пленял их.

47 S ave us, O Jehovah our God, and gather us from the nations, To give thanks to Thy holy name, To glory in Thy praise.

Спаси нас, Господи, наш Бог, и собери нас из среды народов, чтобы мы воздали благодарность Твоему святому Имени и хвалились Твоей славой. Заключительное благословение четвертой книги

48 B lessed Jehovah, God of Israel, From the age even unto the age. And all the people said, `Amen, praise Jah!'

Прославлен будь, Господь, Бог Израиля, от века до века! И весь народ пусть скажет: «Аминь!» Аллилуйя!
