1 A nd all the people of Judah take Uzziah (and he a son of sixteen years), and cause him to reign instead of his father Amaziah.

2 H e hath built Eloth, and restoreth it to Judah after the king's lying with his fathers.

Это он отстроил порт Элат и вернул его Иудее после того, как Амасия упокоился со своими предками.

3 A son of sixteen years Uzziah in his reigning, and fifty and two years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother Jecholiah of Jerusalem.

Когда Уззия стал царем, ему было шестнадцать лет, и правил он в Иерусалиме пятьдесят два года. Его мать звали Иехолия, она была родом из Иерусалима.

4 A nd he doth that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that Amaziah his father did,

Он делал то, что было правильным в глазах Господа, как и его отец Амасия.

5 a nd he is as one seeking God in the days of Zechariah who hath understanding in visions of God: and in the days of his seeking Jehovah, God hath caused him to prosper.

Он искал Бога при жизни Захарии, который наставлял его в страхе Божьем. Пока он искал Господа, Бог посылал ему успех.

6 A nd he goeth forth, and fighteth with the Philistines, and breaketh down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and buildeth cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.

Он пошел войной на филистимлян и разрушил стены Гата, Иавнеи и Ашдода. После этого он отстроил города рядом с Ашдодом и в других местах среди филистимлян.

7 A nd God helpeth him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians who are dwelling in Gur-Baal and the Mehunim.

Бог помогал ему в битве против филистимлян, арабов, которые жили в Гур-Баале, и меунитян.

8 A nd the Ammonites give a present to Uzziah, and his name goeth unto the entering in of Egypt, for he strengthened himself greatly.

Аммонитяне платили Уззии дань, и его слава дошла до Египта, потому что он стал очень могуществен.

9 A nd Uzziah buildeth towers in Jerusalem, by the gate of the corner, and by the gate of the valley, and by the angle, and strengtheneth them;

Уззия возвел башни в Иерусалиме над Угловыми воротами, над воротами Долины и на углу стены и укрепил их.

10 a nd he buildeth towers in the wilderness, and diggeth many wells, for he had much cattle, both in the low country and in the plain, husbandmen and vine-dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel; for he was a lover of the ground.

Он возвел башни и в пустыне и вытесал много хранилищ для воды, потому что у него было много скота в предгорьях и на равнине. А в горах и на плодородных землях у него трудились землепашцы и виноградари. Он любил земледелие.

11 A nd Uzziah hath a force, making war, going forth to the host, by troops, in the number of their reckoning by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Masseiah the officer, by the hand of Hananiah of the heads of the king.

У Уззии было хорошо обученное войско, готовое выступить на войну по отделениям, по числу в списках, составленных писарем Иеиелом и чиновником Маасеей под руководством Ханании, одного из царских сановников.

12 T he whole number of heads of the fathers of the mighty ones of valour two thousand and six hundred;

Общим счетом глав храбрых воинов было две тысячи шестьсот человек.

13 a nd by their hand the force of the host, three hundred thousand, and seven thousand, and five hundred warriors, with mighty power to give help to the king against the enemy.

Под их началом было войско из трехсот семи тысяч пятисот воинов, обученных сражаться – огромная сила, чтобы помогать царю в битве против врагов.

14 A nd Uzziah prepareth for them, for all the host, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, even to stones of the slings.

Уззия заготовил для всего войска щиты, копья, шлемы, латы, луки и камни для пращей.

15 A nd he maketh in Jerusalem inventions -- a device of an inventor -- to be on the towers, and on the corners, to shoot with arrows and with great stones, and his name goeth out unto a distance, for he hath been wonderfully helped till that he hath been strong.

В Иерусалиме он соорудил машины, придуманные искусными мастерами, чтобы с башен и с углов городских стен пускать стрелы и метать огромные камни. Слава о нем распространилась далеко, он получал большую помощь, пока не стал могущественным. Падение и наказание Уззии (4 Цар. 15: 5-7)

16 A nd at his being strong his heart hath been high unto destruction, and he trespasseth against Jehovah his God, and goeth in unto the temple of Jehovah to make perfume upon the altar of perfume.

Но когда Уззия обрел могущество, гордыня привела его к падению. Он нарушил верность Господу, своему Богу, и вошел в Господень храм, чтобы возжечь жертвенные благовония на кадильном жертвеннике.

17 A nd Azariah the priest goeth in after him, and with him priests of Jehovah eighty, sons of valour,

Священник Азария и с ним еще восемьдесят священников, мужественных людей, вошли вслед за ним,

18 a nd they stand up against Uzziah the king, and say to him, `Not for thee, O Uzziah, to make perfume to Jehovah, but for priests, sons of Aaron, who are sanctified to make perfume; go forth from the sanctuary, for thou hast trespassed, and not to thee for honour from Jehovah God.'

преградили ему путь и сказали: – Не подобает тебе, Уззия, возжигать Господу благовония. Это удел священников, потомков Аарона, которые были посвящены, чтобы возжигать благовония. Покинь святилище – ты совершил преступление и не будешь в чести у Господа Бога!

19 A nd Uzziah is wroth, and in his hand a censer to make perfume, and in his being wroth with the priests -- the leprosy hath risen in his forehead, before the priests, in the house of Jehovah, from beside the altar of perfume.

Уззия, который держал в руке кадильницу и был уже готов совершать приношение, разгневался. И пока он гневался на священников, в присутствии священников, перед кадильным жертвенников в доме Господа, у него на лбу появилась проказа.

20 A nd Azariah the head priest looketh unto him, and all the priests, and lo, he leprous in his forehead, and they hasten him thence, and also he himself hath hastened to go out, for Jehovah hath plagued him.

Когда первосвященник Азария и все остальные священники посмотрели на него, они увидели, что у него на лбу проказа, и поспешили вывести его оттуда. Да и сам он спешил уйти, потому что Господь поразил его.

21 A nd Uzziah the king is a leper unto the day of his death, and inhabiteth a separate house -- a leper, for he hath been cut off from the house of Jehovah, and Jotham his son over the house of the king, judging the people of the land.

Царь Уззия был прокаженным до самой его смерти. Он жил в отдельном доме, прокаженный, отлученный от Господнего дома. Иотам, его сын, распоряжался в царском дворце и управлял народом страны.

22 A nd the rest of the matters of Uzziah, the first and the last, hath Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet written;

Прочие события правления Уззии, от первых до последних, записал пророк Исаия, сын Амоца.

23 a nd Uzziah lieth with his fathers, and they bury him with his fathers, in the field of the burying-place that the kings have, for they said, `He a leper;' and reign doth Jotham his son in his stead.

Уззия упокоился со своими предками и был похоронен рядом с ними на поле для погребения, которое принадлежало царям, потому что народ говорил: «Он прокаженный». А Иотам, его сын, стал царем вместо него.
