1 C on nuestros oídos, Dios, hemos oído, nuestros padres nos han contado la obra que hiciste en sus días, en los tiempos antiguos.

To the Overseer. -- By sons of Korah. An Instruction. O God, with our ears we have heard, Our fathers have recounted to us, The work Thou didst work in their days, In the days of old.

2 T ú con tu mano echaste las naciones y los plantaste a ellos; afligiste a los pueblos y los arrojaste,

Thou, Thy hand, nations hast dispossessed. And Thou dost plant them. Thou afflictest peoples, and sendest them away.

3 p ues no se apoderaron de la tierra por su espada, ni su brazo los libró; sino tu diestra, tu brazo, y la luz de tu rostro, porque te complaciste en ellos.

For, not by their sword Possessed they the land, And their arm gave not salvation to them, But Thy right hand, and Thine arm, And the light of Thy countenance, Because Thou hadst accepted them.

4 T ú, Dios, eres mi rey; ¡manda salvación a Jacob!

Thou He, my king, O God, Command the deliverances of Jacob.

5 P or medio de ti sacudiremos a nuestros enemigos; en tu nombre hollaremos a nuestros adversarios,

By Thee our adversaries we do push, By Thy name tread down our withstanders,

6 p orque no confiaré en mi arco ni mi espada me salvará,

For, not in my bow do I trust, And my sword doth not save me.

7 p ues tú nos has guardado de nuestros enemigos, has avergonzado a los que nos aborrecían.

For Thou hast saved us from our adversaries, And those hating us Thou hast put to shame.

8 ¡ En Dios nos gloriaremos todo el tiempo y por siempre alabaremos tu nombre! Selah

In God we have boasted all the day, And Thy name to the age we thank. Selah.

9 P ero nos has desechado, nos has hecho avergonzar, y ya no sales con nuestros ejércitos.

In anger Thou hast cast off and causest us to blush, And goest not forth with our hosts.

10 N os hiciste retroceder delante del enemigo y nos saquean para sí los que nos aborrecen.

Thou causest us to turn backward from an adversary, And those hating us, Have spoiled for themselves.

11 N os entregas como ovejas al matadero y nos has esparcido entre las naciones.

Thou makest us food like sheep, And among nations Thou hast scattered us.

12 H as vendido a tu pueblo de balde; ¡no exigiste ningún precio!

Thou sellest Thy people -- without wealth, And hast not become great by their price.

13 N os has hecho objeto de afrenta de nuestros vecinos; nos pones por escarnio y por burla de los que nos rodean.

Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, A scorn and a reproach to our surrounders.

14 N os pusiste por proverbio entre las naciones; todos al vernos menean la cabeza.

Thou makest us a simile among nations, A shaking of the head among peoples.

15 C ada día mi vergüenza está delante de mí y la confusión cubre mi rostro

All the day my confusion before me, And the shame of my face hath covered me.

16 p or la voz del que me vitupera y me deshonra, por razón del enemigo y del vengativo.

Because of the voice of a reproacher and reviler, Because of an enemy and a self-avenger.

17 T odo esto nos ha venido, y no nos hemos olvidado de ti ni hemos faltado a tu pacto.

All this met us, and we did not forget Thee, Nor have we dealt falsely in Thy covenant.

18 N o se ha vuelto atrás nuestro corazón ni se han apartado de tus caminos nuestros pasos,

We turn not backward our heart, Nor turn aside doth our step from Thy path.

19 p ara que nos arrojaras al lugar de los chacales y nos cubrieras con la sombra de la muerte.

But Thou hast smitten us in a place of dragons, And dost cover us over with death-shade.

20 S i nos hubiéramos olvidado del nombre de nuestro Dios o alzado nuestras manos hacia un dios ajeno,

If we have forgotten the name of our God, And spread our hands to a strange God,

21 ¿ no lo descubriría Dios?, pues él conoce los secretos del corazón.

Doth not God search out this? For He knoweth the secrets of the heart.

22 P ero por causa de ti nos matan cada día; somos contados como ovejas para el matadero.

Surely, for Thy sake we have been slain all the day, Reckoned as sheep of the slaughter.

23 ¡ Despierta! ¿Por qué duermes, Señor? ¡Despierta! No te alejes para siempre.

Stir up -- why dost Thou sleep, O Lord? Awake, cast us not off for ever.

24 ¿ Por qué escondes tu rostro, y te olvidas de nuestra aflicción y de la opresión nuestra?

Why Thy face hidest Thou? Thou forgettest our afflictions and our oppression,

25 P orque nuestra alma está agobiada hasta el polvo y nuestro cuerpo está postrado hasta la tierra,

For bowed to the dust hath our soul, Cleaved to the earth hath our belly.

26 ¡ levántate para ayudarnos y redímenos por causa de tu misericordia!

Arise, a help to us, And ransom us for thy kindness' sake.
