1 F ue, pues, el rey con Amán al banquete de la reina Ester.

And the king cometh in, and Haman, to drink with Esther the queen,

2 Y en el segundo día, mientras bebían vino, dijo el rey a Ester: —¿Cuál es tu petición, reina Ester, y te será concedida? ¿Cuál es tu deseo? Aunque sea la mitad del reino, te será otorgado.

and the king saith to Esther also on the second day, during the banquet of wine, `What thy petition, Esther, O queen? and it is given to thee; and what thy request? unto the half of the kingdom -- and it is done.'

3 E ntonces la reina Ester respondió: —Oh rey, si he hallado gracia en tus ojos y si place al rey, que se me conceda la vida: ésa es mi petición; y la vida de mi pueblo: ése es mi deseo.

And Esther the queen answereth and saith, `If I have found grace in thine eyes, O king, and if to the king good, let my life be given to me at my petition, and my people at my request;

4 P ues yo y mi pueblo hemos sido vendidos, para ser exterminados, para ser muertos y aniquilados. Si hubiéramos sido vendidos como siervos y siervas, me callaría; pero nuestra muerte sería para el rey un daño irreparable.

for we have been sold, I and my people, to cut off, to slay, and to destroy; and if for men-servants and for maid-servants we had been sold I had kept silent -- but the adversity is not equal to the loss of the king.'

5 E l rey Asuero preguntó a la reina Ester: —¿Quién es, y dónde está, el que ha ensoberbecido su corazón para hacer semejante cosa?

And the king Ahasuerus saith, yea, he saith to Esther the queen, `Who he -- this one? and where this one? -- he whose heart hath filled him to do so?'

6 E ster dijo: —¡El enemigo y adversario es este malvado Amán! Se turbó Amán entonces delante del rey y de la reina.

And Esther saith, `The man -- adversary and enemy -- this wicked Haman;' and Haman hath been afraid at the presence of the king and of the queen.

7 E l rey se levantó del banquete, encendido en ira, y se fue al huerto del palacio. Pero Amán se quedó para suplicarle a la reina Ester por su vida, pues vio el mal que se le venía encima de parte del rey.

And the king hath risen, in his fury, from the banquet of wine, unto the garden of the house, and Haman hath remained to seek for his life from Esther the queen, for he hath seen that evil hath been determined against him by the king.

8 C uando el rey volvió del huerto del palacio al aposento del banquete, Amán se había dejado caer sobre el lecho en que estaba Ester. Entonces exclamó el rey: —¿Querrás también violar a la reina en mi propia casa? Al proferir el rey estas palabras, le cubrieron el rostro a Amán.

And the king hath turned back out of the garden of the house unto the house of the banquet of wine, and Haman is falling on the couch on which Esther, and the king saith, `Also to subdue the queen with me in the house?' the word hath gone out from the mouth of the king, and the face of Haman they have covered.

9 Y Harbona, uno de los eunucos que servían al rey, dijo: —En la casa de Amán está la horca de cincuenta codos de altura que hizo Amán para Mardoqueo, quien habló para bien del rey. Dijo el rey: —Colgadlo en ella.

And Harbonah, one of the eunuchs, saith before the king, `Also lo, the tree that Haman made for Mordecai, who spake good for the king, is standing in the house of Haman, in height fifty cubits;' and the king saith, `Hang him upon it.'

10 A sí colgaron a Amán en la horca que él había hecho preparar para Mardoqueo. Y se apaciguó la ira del rey.

And they hang Haman upon the tree that he had prepared for Mordecai, and the fury of the king hath lain down.
