1 F ueron ciento veintisiete los años de la vida de Sara; tantos fueron los años de la vida de Sara.

And the life of Sarah is a hundred and twenty and seven years -- years of the life of Sarah;

2 S ara murió en Quiriat-arba (que es Hebrón), en la tierra de Canaán; y vino Abraham a hacer duelo por Sara y a llorarla.

and Sarah dieth in Kirjath-Arba, which Hebron, in the land of Caanan, and Abraham goeth in to mourn for Sarah, and to bewail her.

3 L uego se levantó Abraham de delante de su muerta y habló a los hijos de Het, diciendo:

And Abraham riseth up from the presence of his dead, and speaketh unto the sons of Heth, saying,

4 — Extranjero y forastero soy entre vosotros; dadme en propiedad una sepultura entre vosotros para llevarme a mi muerta y sepultarla.

`A sojourner and a settler I with you; give to me a possession of a burying-place with you, and I bury my dead from before me.'

5 R espondieron los hijos de Het a Abraham, diciendo:

And the sons of Heth answer Abraham, saying to him,

6 — Óyenos, señor nuestro. Tú eres un príncipe de Dios entre nosotros; sepulta a tu muerta en lo mejor de nuestros sepulcros, pues ninguno de nosotros te negará su sepulcro ni te impedirá que entierres a tu muerta.

`Hear us, my lord; a prince of God thou in our midst; in the choice of our burying-places bury thy dead: none of us his burying-place doth withhold from thee, from burying thy dead.'

7 A braham se levantó, se inclinó ante el pueblo de aquella tierra, los hijos de Het,

And Abraham riseth and boweth himself to the people of the land, to the sons of Heth,

8 y habló con ellos, diciendo: —Si en verdad queréis que yo me lleve y sepulte a mi muerta, oídme e interceded por mí ante Efrón hijo de Zohar,

and he speaketh with them, saying, `If it is your desire to bury my dead from before me, hear me, and meet for me with Ephron, son of Zoar;

9 p ara que me dé la cueva de Macpela, que tiene al extremo de su heredad; que me la dé por su justo precio y así poseeré una sepultura en medio de vosotros.

and he giveth to me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which in the extremity of his field; for full money doth he give it to me, in your midst, for a possession of a burying-place.'

10 C omo Efrón, el heteo, estaba entre los hijos de Het, respondió a Abraham en presencia de los hijos de Het y de todos los que entraban por la puerta de su ciudad:

And Ephron is sitting in the midst of the sons of Heth, and Ephron the Hittite answereth Abraham in the ears of the sons of Heth, of all those entering the gate of his city, saying,

11 — No, señor mío, óyeme: te doy la heredad y te doy también la cueva que está en ella. En presencia de los hijos de mi pueblo te la doy; sepulta a tu muerta.

`Nay, my lord, hear me: the field I have given to thee, and the cave that in it, to thee I have given it; before the eyes of the sons of my people I have given it to thee -- bury thy dead.'

12 E ntonces Abraham se inclinó delante del pueblo de la tierra

And Abraham boweth himself before the people of the land,

13 y respondió a Efrón en presencia del pueblo del lugar, diciendo: —Antes, si te place, te ruego que me oigas. Yo pagaré el precio de la heredad; acéptalo y sepultaré en ella a mi muerta.

and speaketh unto Ephron in the ears of the people of the land, saying, `Only -- if thou wouldst hear me -- I have given the money of the field -- accept from me, and I bury my dead there.'

14 R espondió Efrón a Abraham:

And Ephron answereth Abraham, saying to him,

15 — Señor mío, escúchame: la tierra vale cuatrocientos siclos de plata, pero ¿qué es esto entre tú y yo? Entierra, pues, a tu muerta.

`My lord, hear me: the land -- four hundred shekels of silver; between me and thee, what it? -- thy dead bury.'

16 E ntonces Abraham aceptó la oferta de Efrón y, en presencia de los hijos de Het, pesó a Efrón el dinero que éste le había pedido, cuatrocientos siclos de plata de buena ley entre mercaderes.

And Abraham hearkeneth unto Ephron, and Abraham weigheth to Ephron the silver which he hath spoken of in the ears of the sons of Heth, four hundred silver shekels, passing with the merchant.

17 A sí, pues, la heredad de Efrón que estaba en Macpela, al oriente de Mamre, la heredad, con la cueva que había en ella y con todos los árboles que había en la heredad y en todos sus contornos,

And established are the field of Ephron, which in Machpelah, which before Mamre, the field and the cave which in it, and all the trees which in the field, which in all its border round about,

18 q uedó como propiedad de Abraham, en presencia de los hijos de Het y de todos los que entraban por la puerta de la ciudad.

to Abraham by purchase, before the eyes of the sons of Heth, among all entering the gate of his city.

19 D espués de esto, Abraham sepultó a Sara, su mujer, en la cueva de la heredad de Macpela, al oriente de Mamre (que es Hebrón), en la tierra de Canaán.

And after this hath Abraham buried Sarah his wife at the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre (which Hebron), in the land of Canaan;

20 Y la heredad, con la cueva que en ella había, quedó en manos de Abraham como una posesión para sepultura, recibida de los hijos de Het.

and established are the field, and the cave which in it, to Abraham for a possession of a burying-place, from the sons of Heth.
