1 A cerca de Moab. Así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: «¡Ay de Nebo, porque fue destruida! ¡Deshonrada y conquistada fue Quiriataim; la ciudadela está deshonrada y destruida!

Concerning Moab: `Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Wo unto Nebo, for it is spoiled, Put to shame, captured hath been Kiriathaim, Put to shame hath been the high tower, Yea, it hath been broken down.

2 ¡ Nunca más se alabará Moab! En Hesbón maquinaron mal contra ella, diciendo: “¡Venid y borrémosla de entre las naciones!” También tú, Madmena, serás cortada; la espada irá en pos de ti.

There is no more praise of Moab, In Heshbon they devised against it evil: Come, and we cut it off from a nation, Also, O Madmen, thou art cut off, After thee goeth a sword.

3 » ¡Gritos vienen de Horonaim, destrucción y gran quebrantamiento!

A voice of a cry from Horonaim, Spoiling and great destruction.

4 ¡ Moab fue quebrantada: hicieron que se oyera el clamor de sus pequeños!,

Destroyed hath been Moab, Caused a cry to be heard have her little ones.

5 p ues por la cuesta de Luhit la gente sube llorando, porque a la bajada de Horonaim los enemigos oyen gritos de quebranto.

For the ascent of Luhith with weeping, Go up doth weeping, For in the descent of Horonaim Adversaries a cry of desolation have heard.

6 ¡ Huid, salvad vuestra vida, sed como la retama en el desierto!

Flee ye, deliver yourselves, Ye are as a naked thing in a wilderness.

7 P or cuanto confiaste en tus bienes y en tus tesoros, tú también serás conquistada. Quemos será llevado en cautiverio, junto con sus sacerdotes y sus príncipes.

For, because of thy trusting in thy works, And in thy treasures, even thou art captured, And gone out hath Chemosh in a removal, His priests and his heads together.

8 V endrá el destructor a cada una de las ciudades, y ninguna ciudad escapará. También el valle será arruinado y arrasada la llanura, como ha dicho Jehová.

And come in doth a spoiler unto every city, And no city doth escape, And perished hath the valley, And destroyed been the plain, as Jehovah said.

9 » ¡Dadle alas a Moab, para que se vaya volando!, pues quedarán desiertas sus ciudades hasta no hallarse en ellas morador alguno.»

Give wings to Moab, for she utterly goeth out, And her cities are for a desolation, Without an inhabitant in them.

10 ¡ Maldito el que haga con indolencia la obra de Jehová! ¡Maldito el que retraiga de la sangre su espada!

Cursed he who is doing the work of Jehovah slothfully, And cursed he Who is withholding his sword from blood.

11 T ranquilo estuvo Moab desde su juventud; sobre sus sedimentos ha estado reposado; no fue vaciado de vasija en vasija ni nunca estuvo en cautiverio. Por eso conservó su propio sabor y no ha perdido su aroma.

Secure is Moab from his youth, And at rest he for his preserved things, And he hath not been emptied out from vessel unto vessel, And into captivity he hath not gone, Therefore hath his taste remained in him, And his fragrance hath not been changed.

12 « Pero vienen días, ha dicho Jehová, en que yo le enviaré trasvasadores que lo trasvasarán, vaciarán sus vasijas y romperán sus odres.

Therefore, lo, days are coming, An affirmation of Jehovah, And I have sent to him wanderers, And they have caused him to wander, And his vessels they empty out, And his bottles they dash in pieces.

13 Y Moab se avergonzará de Quemos, como la casa de Israel se avergonzó de Bet-el, su confianza.

And ashamed hath been Moab because of Chemosh, As the house of Israel have been ashamed Because of Beth-El their confidence.

14 » ¿Cómo, pues, diréis: “Somos hombres valientes y robustos para la guerra”?

How do ye say, We mighty, And men of strength for battle?

15 ¡ Destruido es Moab, asoladas sus ciudades y llevados sus jóvenes al degolladero!, ha dicho el Rey, cuyo nombre es Jehová de los ejércitos.

Spoiled is Moab, and her cities hath one gone up, And the choice of its young men Have gone down to slaughter, An affirmation of the King, Jehovah of Hosts His name.

16 C ercano está el quebrantamiento de Moab, a punto de llegar; mucho se apresura su mal.

Near is the calamity of Moab to come, And his affliction hath hasted exceedingly.

17 C ompadeceos de él todos los que estáis a su alrededor; y todos los que sabéis su nombre, decid: “¡Cómo se quebró la vara fuerte, el bastón hermoso!”

Bemoan for him, all ye round about him, And all knowing his name, say ye: How hath it been broken, the staff of strength, The rod of beauty.

18 D esciende de la gloria, siéntate en tierra seca, moradora hija de Dibón, porque el destructor de Moab ha subido contra ti, ha destruido tus fortalezas.

Come down from honour, sit in thirst, O inhabitant, daughter of Dibon, For a spoiler of Moab hath come up to thee, He hath destroyed thy fenced places.

19 P árate en el camino y mira, moradora de Aroer; pregunta a la que va huyendo, a la que escapó. Dile: “¿Qué ha sucedido?”

On the way stand, and watch, O inhabitant of Aroer, Ask the fugitive and escaped, Say, What hath happened?

20 S e avergonzó Moab, porque fue quebrantado. ¡Lamentaos a gritos! ¡Anunciad en el Arnón que Moab ha sido destruido!»

Put to shame hath been Moab, For it hath been broken down, Howl and cry, declare ye in Arnon, For spoiled is Moab,

21 V ino el juicio sobre la tierra de la llanura; sobre Holón, sobre Jahaza, sobre Mefaat,

And judgment hath come in unto the land of the plain -- unto Holon, And unto Jahazah, and on Mephaath,

22 s obre Dibón, sobre Nebo, sobre Bet-diblataim,

And on Dibon, and on Nebo, And on Beth-Diblathaim, and on Kirathaim,

23 s obre Quiriataim, sobre Bet-gamul, sobre Bet-meón,

And on Beth-Gamul, and on Beth-Meon,

24 s obre Queriot, sobre Bosra y sobre todas las ciudades de la tierra de Moab, las de lejos y las de cerca.

And on Kerioth, and on Bozrah, And on all cities of the land of Moab, The far off and the near.

25 J ehová dice: «Cortado es el poder de Moab y quebrantado su brazo.»

Cut down hath been the horn of Moab, And his arm hath been broken, An affirmation of Jehovah.

26 ¡ Embriagadlo, porque contra Jehová se engrandeció! ¡Revuélquese Moab sobre su vómito y sea, también él, motivo de escarnio!

Declare ye him drunk, For against Jehovah he made himself great And Moab hath stricken in his vomit, And he hath been for a derision -- even he.

27 ¿ Acaso Israel no fue para ti un motivo de escarnio, como si lo hubieran sorprendido entre ladrones? Porque tú, cuando de él hablabas, hacías gestos de burla.

And was not Israel the derision to thee? Among thieves was he found? For since thy words concerning him, Thou dost bemoan thyself.

28 ¡ Abandonad las ciudades y habitad entre peñascos, moradores de Moab! ¡Sed como la paloma que anida al borde del barranco!

Forsake cities, and dwell in a rock, Ye inhabitants of Moab, And be as a dove making a nest in the passages of a pit's mouth.

29 H emos oído de la soberbia de Moab, que es muy soberbio, arrogante, orgulloso, altivo y altanero de corazón.

We have heard of the arrogance of Moab, Exceeding proud! His haughtiness, and his arrogance, And his pride, and the height of his heart,

30 D ice Jehová: «Yo conozco su cólera, pero no tendrá efecto alguno. Sus jactancias de nada le aprovecharán.»

I -- I have known, an affirmation of Jehovah, His wrath, and not right, His devices -- not right they have done.

31 P or tanto, yo aullaré por Moab, por todo Moab clamaré, y gemiré por la gente de Kir-hares.

Therefore for Moab I howl, even for Moab -- all of it, I cry for men of Kir-Heres, it doth mourn,

32 C on llanto por Jazer lloraré por ti, vid de Sibma; tus sarmientos pasaron el mar, llegaron hasta el mar de Jazer. Sobre tu cosecha y sobre tu vendimia vino el destructor.

With the weeping of Jazer, I weep for thee, O vine of Sibmah, Thy branches have passed over a sea, Unto the sea of Jazer they have come, On thy summer fruits, and on thy harvest, A spoiler hath fallen.

33 L a alegría y el regocijo se han acabado en los campos fértiles de la tierra de Moab. De los lagares haré que falte el vino, y no habrá pisador que cante. No habrá más cantos de júbilo.

And removed hath been joy and gladness From the fruitful field, Even from the land of Moab, And wine from wine-presses I have caused to cease, Shouting doth not proceed, The shouting no shouting!

34 E l clamor de Hesbón llega hasta Eleale; hasta Jahaza dieron su voz; desde Zoar hasta Horonaim y Eglat-selesiyá, porque aun las aguas de Nimrim serán arruinadas.

Because of the cry of Heshbon unto Elealeh, Unto Jahaz they have given their voice, From Zoar unto Horonaim, A heifer of the third, For even waters of Nimrim become desolations.

35 D ice Jehová: «Exterminaré de Moab a quien sacrifique sobre los lugares altos y ofrezca incienso a sus dioses.»

And I have caused to cease to Moab, An affirmation of Jehovah, Him who is offering in a high place, And him who is making perfume to his god.

36 P or eso resuena mi corazón como flautas por causa de Moab, y asimismo resuena mi corazón a modo de flautas por los hombres de Kir-hares, porque se perdieron las riquezas que habían conseguido.

Therefore my heart for Moab as pipes doth sound, And my heart for men of Kir-Heres As pipes doth sound, Therefore the abundance he made did perish.

37 P orque toda cabeza está rapada y toda barba recortada; en toda mano hay cortaduras, y todos llevan ropa áspera.

For every head bald, and every beard diminished, On all hands cuttings, and on the loins -- sackcloth.

38 « Sobre todos los terrados de Moab, y en sus calles, todo será llanto, porque yo quebranté a Moab como a una vasija inútil», dice Jehová.

On all roofs of Moab, and in her broad-places, All of it -- lamentation, For I have broken Moab as a vessel in which there is no pleasure, An affirmation of Jehovah.

39 ¡ Lamentad! ¡Cómo ha sido quebrantado! ¡Cómo volvió la espalda Moab y fue avergonzado! Fue Moab objeto de escarnio y de horror para todos los que están en sus alrededores.

How hath it been broken down! they have howled, How hath Moab turned the neck ashamed, And Moab hath been for a derision. And for a terror to all round about her.

40 P orque así ha dicho Jehová: «Como un águila volará, desplegará sus alas contra Moab.

For thus said Jehovah: Lo, as an eagle he doth flee, And hath spread his wings unto Moab.

41 T omadas serán las ciudades y conquistadas las fortalezas. Aquel día, el corazón de los valientes de Moab será como el corazón de mujer en angustias,

Captured have been the cities, And the strongholds are caught, And the heart of the mighty of Moab Hath been in that day as the heart of a distressed woman.

42 y Moab será destruido hasta dejar de ser pueblo, porque se engrandeció contra Jehová.

And Moab hath been destroyed from a people, For against Jehovah he exerted himself.

43 M iedo, fosa y red contra ti, morador de Moab, dice Jehová.

Fear, and a snare, and a gin, for thee, O inhabitant of Moab -- an affirmation of Jehovah,

44 E l que huya del miedo caerá en la fosa, y el que salga de la fosa quedará atrapado en la red. Porque yo traeré sobre él, sobre Moab, el año de su castigo, dice Jehová.

Whoso is fleeing because of the fear falleth into the snare, And whoso is coming up from the snare is captured by the gin, For I bring in unto her -- unto Moab -- The year of their inspection, An affirmation of Jehovah.

45 » A la sombra de Hesbón se detuvieron sin fuerzas los que huían; mas salió fuego de Hesbón y una llama de en medio de Sehón, y quemó el rincón de Moab y la coronilla de los hijos revoltosos.

In the shadow of Heshbon stood powerless have fugitives, For fire hath gone forth from Heshbon, And a flame from within Sihon, And it consumeth the corner of Moab, And the crown of the sons of Shaon.

46 ¡ Ay de ti, Moab! ¡Pereció el pueblo de Quemos!, porque tus hijos fueron apresados, llevados en cautividad, y tus hijas fueron puestas en cautiverio.

Wo to thee, O Moab, Perished hath the people of Chemosh, For thy sons were taken with the captives, And thy daughters with the captivity.

47 P ero haré volver a los cautivos de Moab al final de los tiempos, dice Jehová.» Hasta aquí es el juicio de Moab.

And I have turned back the captivity of Moab, In the latter end of the days, An affirmation of Jehovah! Hitherto the judgment of Moab.
