1 ¡ Aleluya! ¡Alabad a Jehová, porque él es bueno, porque para siempre es su misericordia!

Praise ye Jah, give thanks to Jehovah, For good, for to the age, His kindness.

2 ¿ Quién expresará las poderosas obras de Jehová? ¿Quién contará sus alabanzas?

Who doth utter the mighty acts of Jehovah? Soundeth all His praise?

3 ¡ Bienaventurados los que guardan el derecho, los que hacen justicia en todo tiempo!

O the happiness of those keeping judgment, Doing righteousness at all times.

4 A cuérdate de mí, Jehová, según tu benevolencia para con tu pueblo; visítame con tu salvación,

Remember me, O Jehovah, With the favour of Thy people, Look after me in Thy salvation.

5 p ara que yo vea el bien de tus escogidos, para que me goce en la alegría de tu nación y me gloríe con tu heredad.

To look on the good of Thy chosen ones, To rejoice in the joy of Thy nation, To boast myself with Thine inheritance.

6 P ecamos nosotros, como nuestros padres; hicimos maldad, cometimos impiedad.

We have sinned with our fathers, We have done perversely, we have done wickedly.

7 N uestros padres, en Egipto, no entendieron tus maravillas; no se acordaron de la muchedumbre de tus misericordias, sino que se rebelaron junto al mar, el Mar Rojo.

Our fathers in Egypt, Have not considered wisely Thy wonders, They have not remembered The abundance of Thy kind acts, And provoke by the sea, at the sea of Suph.

8 P ero él los salvó por amor de su nombre, para hacer notorio su poder.

And He saveth them for His name's sake, To make known His might,

9 R eprendió al Mar Rojo y lo secó, y los hizo ir por el abismo como por un desierto.

And rebuketh the sea of Suph, and it is dried up, And causeth them to go Through depths as a wilderness.

10 L os salvó de manos del enemigo, y los rescató de manos del adversario.

And He saveth them from the hand Of him who is hating, And redeemeth them from the hand of the enemy.

11 C ubrieron las aguas a sus enemigos; ¡no quedó ni uno de ellos!

And waters cover their adversaries, One of them hath not been left.

12 E ntonces creyeron a sus palabras y cantaron su alabanza.

And they believe in His words, they sing His praise,

13 B ien pronto olvidaron sus obras; no esperaron su consejo.

They have hasted -- forgotten His works, They have not waited for His counsel.

14 S e entregaron a un deseo desordenado en el desierto y tentaron a Dios en la soledad.

And they lust greatly in a wilderness, And try God in a desert.

15 É l les dio lo que pidieron, pero envió mortandad sobre ellos.

And He giveth to them their request, And sendeth leanness into their soul.

16 T uvieron envidia de Moisés en el campamento, y contra Aarón, el santo de Jehová.

And they are envious of Moses in the camp, Of Aaron, Jehovah's holy one.

17 E ntonces se abrió la tierra y se tragó a Datán, y cubrió la compañía de Abiram.

Earth openeth, and swalloweth up Dathan, And covereth over the company of Abiram.

18 Y se encendió fuego contra su grupo; ¡la llama quemó a los impíos!

And fire burneth among their company, A flame setteth on fire the wicked.

19 H icieron un becerro en Horeb, se postraron ante una imagen de fundición.

They make a calf in Horeb, And bow themselves to a molten image,

20 A sí cambiaron su gloria por la imagen de un buey que come hierba.

And change their Honour Into the form of an ox eating herbs.

21 O lvidaron al Dios de su salvación, que había hecho grandezas en Egipto,

They have forgotten God their saviour, The doer of great things in Egypt,

22 m aravillas en la tierra de Cam, cosas formidables en el Mar Rojo.

Of wonderful things in the land of Ham, Of fearful things by the sea of Suph.

23 Y los habría destruido de no haberse interpuesto Moisés, su escogido, delante de él, a fin de apartar su indignación para que no los destruyera.

And He saith to destroy them, Unless Moses, His chosen one, Had stood in the breach before Him, To turn back His wrath from destroying.

24 P ero aborrecieron la tierra deseable, no creyeron a su palabra,

And they kick against the desirable land, They have not given credence to His word.

25 a ntes, murmuraron en sus tiendas y no oyeron la voz de Jehová.

And they murmur in their tents, They have not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah.

26 P or tanto, alzó su mano contra ellos para abatirlos en el desierto,

And He lifteth up His hand to them, To cause them to fall in a wilderness,

27 y humillar a su pueblo entre las naciones y esparcirlos por las tierras.

And to cause their seed to fall among nations, And to scatter them through lands.

28 S e unieron asimismo a Baal-peor y comieron los sacrificios a los dioses muertos.

And they are coupled to Baal-Peor, And eat the sacrifices of the dead,

29 P rovocaron la ira de Dios con sus obras y se desarrolló la mortandad entre ellos.

And they provoke to anger by their actions, And a plague breaketh forth upon them,

30 E ntonces se levantó Finees e hizo juicio, y se detuvo la plaga.

And Phinehas standeth, and executeth judgment, And the plague is restrained,

31 Y le fue contado por justicia de generación en generación y para siempre.

And it is reckoned to him to righteousness, To all generations -- unto the age.

32 T ambién lo irritaron en las aguas de Meriba; le fue mal a Moisés por causa de ellos,

And they cause wrath by the waters of Meribah, And it is evil to Moses for their sakes,

33 p orque hicieron rebelar a su espíritu y habló precipitadamente con sus labios.

For they have provoked his spirit, And he speaketh wrongfully with his lips.

34 N o destruyeron a los pueblos que Jehová les dijo;

They have not destroyed the peoples, As Jehovah had said to them,

35 a l contrario, se mezclaron con las naciones, aprendieron sus obras

And mix themselves among nations, and learn their works,

36 y sirvieron a sus ídolos, los cuales fueron causa de su ruina.

And serve their idols, And they are to them for a snare.

37 S acrificaron sus hijos y sus hijas a los demonios,

And they sacrifice their sons And their daughters to destroyers,

38 y derramaron la sangre inocente, la sangre de sus hijos y de sus hijas, a quienes ofrecieron en sacrificio a los ídolos de Canaán; y la tierra fue contaminada con sangre.

And they shed innocent blood -- Blood of their sons and of their daughters, Whom they have sacrificed to idols of Canaan, And the land is profaned with blood.

39 S e contaminaron así con sus obras y se prostituyeron con sus hechos.

And they are defiled with their works, And commit whoredom in their habitual doings.

40 P or tanto, se encendió contra su pueblo el furor de Jehová, y abominó su heredad;

And the anger of Jehovah Is kindled against His people, And He doth abominate His inheritance.

41 l os entregó en poder de las naciones y se enseñorearon de ellos los que los detestaban.

And giveth them into the hand of nations, And those hating them rule over them,

42 S us enemigos los oprimieron y fueron quebrantados debajo de su mano.

And their enemies oppress them, And they are humbled under their hand.

43 M uchas veces los libró, pero ellos se rebelaron contra su consejo y fueron humillados por su maldad.

Many times He doth deliver them, And they rebel in their counsel, And they are brought low in their iniquity.

44 C on todo, él miraba cuando estaban en angustia, y oía su clamor;

And He looketh on their distress When He heareth their cry,

45 s e acordaba de su pacto con ellos y se compadecía conforme a la muchedumbre de su misericordia.

And remembereth for them His covenant, And is comforted, According to the abundance of His kindness.

46 H izo asimismo que tuvieran de ellos misericordia todos los que los tenían cautivos.

And He appointeth them for mercies Before all their captors.

47 S álvanos, Jehová, Dios nuestro, y recógenos de entre las naciones, para que alabemos tu santo nombre, para que nos gloriemos en tus alabanzas.

Save us, O Jehovah our God, and gather us from the nations, To give thanks to Thy holy name, To glory in Thy praise.

48 ¡ Bendito Jehová, Dios de Israel, desde la eternidad y hasta la eternidad! Diga todo el pueblo: «¡Amén!» «¡Aleluya!»

Blessed Jehovah, God of Israel, From the age even unto the age. And all the people said, `Amen, praise Jah!'
