1 E n el año duodécimo de Acaz, rey de Judá, Oseas hijo de Ela comenzó a reinar en Samaria sobre Israel. Reinó nueve años,

In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah reigned hath Hoshea son of Elah in Samaria, over Israel -- nine years,

2 e hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, aunque no como los reyes de Israel que habían sido antes de él.

and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, only, not as the kings of Israel who were before him;

3 S almanasar, rey de los asirios, subió contra Oseas, quien fue hecho su siervo y le pagaba tributo.

against him came up Shalmaneser king of Asshur, and Hoshea is to him a servant, and doth render to him a present.

4 P ero el rey de Asiria descubrió que Oseas conspiraba, pues había enviado embajadores a So, rey de Egipto, y no pagó tributo al rey de Asiria, como lo hacía cada año, por lo que el rey de Asiria lo detuvo y lo encerró en la casa de la cárcel.

And the king of Asshur findeth in Hoshea a conspiracy, in that he hath sent messengers unto So king of Egypt, and hath not caused a present to go up to the king of Asshur, as year by year, and the king of Asshur restraineth him, and bindeth him in a house of restraint.

5 L uego el rey de Asiria invadió todo el país y sitió a Samaria, y estuvo sobre ella tres años.

And the king of Asshur goeth up into all the land, and he goeth up to Samaria, and layeth siege against it three years;

6 E n el año nueve de Oseas, el rey de Asiria tomó Samaria y llevó a Israel cautivo a Asiria. Los estableció en Halah, en Habor junto al río Gozán, y en las ciudades de los medos.

in the ninth year of Hoshea hath the king of Asshur captured Samaria, and removeth Israel to Asshur, and causeth them to dwell in Halah, and in Habor, the river Gozan, and the cities of the Medes.

7 E sto sucedió porque los hijos de Israel pecaron contra Jehová, su Dios, que los sacó de la tierra de Egipto, de bajo la mano del faraón, rey de Egipto. Adoraron a dioses ajenos

And it cometh to pass, because the sons of Israel have sinned against Jehovah their God -- who bringeth them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt -- and fear other gods,

8 y anduvieron en los estatutos de las naciones que Jehová había expulsado de delante de los hijos de Israel, así como en los estatutos que hicieron los reyes de Israel.

and walk in the statutes of the nations that Jehovah dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel, and of the kings of Israel that they made;

9 L os hijos de Israel hicieron secretamente cosas impropias contra Jehová, su Dios: se edificaron lugares altos en todas las ciudades, desde las torres de las atalayas hasta las ciudades fortificadas,

and the sons of Israel do covertly things that not right against Jehovah their God, and build for them high places in all their cities, from a tower of the watchers unto the fenced city,

10 y levantaron estatuas e imágenes de Asera en todo collado alto y debajo de todo árbol frondoso.

and set up for them standing-pillars and shrines on every high height, and under every green tree,

11 Q uemaron incienso en todos los lugares altos, a la manera de las naciones que Jehová había traspuesto de delante de ellos, e hicieron cosas muy malas para provocar a ira a Jehová.

and make perfume there in all high places, like the nations that Jehovah removed from their presence, and do evil things to provoke Jehovah,

12 S ervían además a los ídolos, acerca de los cuales Jehová les había dicho: «Vosotros no habéis de hacer tal cosa.»

and serve the idols, of which Jehovah said to them, `Ye do not do this thing;'

13 J ehová amonestó entonces a Israel y a Judá por medio de todos los profetas y de todos los videntes diciendo: «Volveos de vuestros malos caminos y guardad mis mandamientos y mis ordenanzas, conforme a todas las leyes que yo prescribí a vuestros padres y que os he enviado por medio de mis siervos los profetas.»

And Jehovah testifieth against Israel, and against Judah, by the hand of every prophet, and every seer, saying, `Turn back from your evil ways, and keep My commands, My statutes, according to all the law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent unto you by the hand of My servants the prophets;'

14 P ero ellos no obedecieron, sino que se obstinaron tanto como sus padres, los cuales no creyeron en Jehová, su Dios.

and they have not hearkened, and harden their neck, like the neck of their fathers, who did not remain stedfast in Jehovah their God,

15 D esecharon sus estatutos, el pacto que él había hecho con sus padres y los testimonios que él les había prescrito, siguiendo en pos de vanidades y haciéndose vanos ellos mismos, por imitar a las naciones que estaban alrededor de ellos, aunque Jehová les había mandado que no obraran como ellas.

and reject His statutes and His covenant that He made with their fathers, and His testimonies that He testified against them, and go after the vain thing, and become vain, and after the nations that are round about them, of whom Jehovah commanded them not to do like them;

16 D ejaron todos los mandamientos de Jehová, su Dios; se hicieron imágenes fundidas de dos becerros, y también imágenes de Asera; adoraron a todo el ejército de los cielos y sirvieron a Baal;

And they forsake all the commands of Jehovah their God, and make to them a molten image -- two calves, and make a shrine, and bow themselves to all the host of the heavens, and serve Baal,

17 h icieron pasar a sus hijos y a sus hijas por el fuego, se dieron a adivinaciones y agüeros, y se entregaron a hacer lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, provocando su ira.

and cause their sons and their daughters to pass over through fire, and divine divinations, and use enchantments, and sell themselves to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, to provoke Him;

18 P or lo tanto, Jehová se enfureció tanto contra Israel, que los quitó de delante de su rostro, y sólo quedó la tribu de Judá.

That Jehovah sheweth himself very angry against Israel, and turneth them aside from His presence; none hath been left, only the tribe of Judah by itself.

19 P ero ni aun Judá guardó los mandamientos de Jehová, su Dios, sino que anduvieron en las costumbres que Israel había establecido.

Also Judah hath not kept the commands of Jehovah their God, and they walk in the statutes of Israel that they had made.

20 E ntonces desechó Jehová a toda la descendencia de Israel, los afligió y los entregó en manos de saqueadores, hasta echarlos de su presencia.

And Jehovah kicketh against all the seed of Israel, and afflicteth them, and giveth them into the hand of spoilers, till that He hath cast them out of His presence,

21 C uando separó a Israel de la casa de David y ellos hicieron rey a Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, Jeroboam apartó a Israel del camino de Jehová y les hizo cometer un gran pecado.

for He hath rent Israel from the house of David, and they make Jeroboam son of Nebat king, and Jeroboam driveth Israel from after Jehovah, and hath caused them to sin a great sin,

22 L os hijos de Israel anduvieron en todos los pecados que cometió Jeroboam y no se apartaron de ellos,

and the sons of Israel walk in all the sins of Jeroboam that he did, they have not turned aside therefrom,

23 h asta que Jehová apartó a Israel de su presencia, como lo había anunciado por medio de todos los profetas, sus siervos. Así Israel fue llevado cautivo de su tierra a Asiria, hasta el día de hoy. Repoblación de Samaria

till that Jehovah hath turned Israel aside from His presence, as He spake by the hand of all His servants the prophets, and Israel is removed from off its land to Asshur, unto this day.

24 E l rey de Asiria llevó gente de Babilonia, de Cuta, de Ava, de Hamat y de Sefarvaim, y la puso en las ciudades de Samaria, en lugar de los hijos de Israel. Así ocuparon Samaria y habitaron en sus ciudades.

And the king of Asshur bringeth in from Babylon and from Cutha, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and Sepharvaim, and causeth to dwell in the cities of Samaria instead of the sons of Israel, and they possess Samaria, and dwell in its cities;

25 P ero aconteció al principio, cuando comenzaron a habitar allí, que como no temían a Jehová, él envió contra ellos leones que los mataban.

and it cometh to pass, at the commencement of their dwelling there, they have not feared Jehovah, and Jehovah doth send among them the lions, and they are destroying among them.

26 E ntonces dijeron al rey de Asiria: «Las gentes que tú trasladaste y pusiste en las ciudades de Samaria no conocen la ley del Dios de aquella tierra, y él ha echado en medio de ellos leones que los matan, porque no conocen la ley del Dios de la tierra.»

And they speak to the king of Asshur, saying, `The nations that thou hast removed, and dost place in the cities of Samaria, have not known the custom of the God of the land, and He sendeth among them the lions, and lo, they are destroying them, as they do not know the custom of the God of the land.'

27 Y el rey de Asiria ordenó: «Llevad allá a alguno de los sacerdotes que trajisteis de ese lugar, que vaya y habite allí y les enseñe la ley del Dios del país.»

And the king of Asshur commandeth, saying, `Cause to go thither one of the priests whom ye removed thence, and they go and dwell there, and he doth teach them the custom of the God of the land.'

28 E ntonces uno de los sacerdotes que se habían llevado cautivo de Samaria, fue y habitó en Bet-el, y les enseñó cómo habían de temer a Jehová.

And one of the priests whom they removed from Samaria cometh in, and dwelleth in Beth-El, and he is teaching them how they do fear Jehovah,

29 P ero cada nación se hizo sus dioses en la ciudad donde habitaba, y los pusieron en los templos de los lugares altos que habían construido los de Samaria.

and they are making each nation its gods, and place in the houses of the high places that the Samaritans have made, each nation in their cities where they are dwelling.

30 L os de Babilonia hicieron a Sucot-benot, los de Cuta hicieron a Nergal, y los de Hamat hicieron a Asima.

And the men of Babylon have made Succoth-Benoth, and the men of Cuth have made Nergal, and the men of Hamath have made Ashima,

31 L os aveos hicieron a Nibhaz y a Tartac, y los de Sefarvaim quemaban sus hijos en el fuego para adorar a Adramelec y a Anamelec, dioses de Sefarvaim.

and the Avites have made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites are burning their sons with fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, gods of Sepharvim.

32 T emían además a Jehová, e hicieron del bajo pueblo sacerdotes para los lugares altos, los cuales sacrificaban para ellos en los templos de los lugares altos.

And they are fearing Jehovah, and make to themselves from their extremities priests of high places, and they are acting for them in the house of the high places.

33 A unque temían a Jehová, honraban a sus dioses, según la costumbre de las naciones de donde habían sido trasladados.

Jehovah they are fearing, and their gods they are serving, according to the custom of the nations whence they removed them.

34 T odavía hoy hacen como antes: no temen a Jehová ni guardan sus estatutos ni sus ordenanzas, ni hacen según la ley y los mandamientos que prescribió Jehová a los hijos de Jacob, al cual puso el nombre de Israel.

Unto this day they are doing according to the former customs -- they are not fearing Jehovah, and are not doing according to their statutes, and according to their ordinances, and according to the law, and according to the command, that Jehovah commanded the sons of Jacob whose name He made Israel,

35 C uando Jehová hizo un pacto con ellos, les mandó: «No temeréis a otros dioses ni los adoraréis, ni los serviréis, ni les haréis sacrificios.

and Jehovah maketh with them a covenant, and chargeth them, saying, `Ye do not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them,

36 S ólo a Jehová, que os sacó de tierra de Egipto con gran poder y brazo extendido, a este temeréis, a este adoraréis y a éste haréis sacrificio.

but Jehovah who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a stretched-out arm, Him ye do fear, and to Him ye bow yourselves, and to Him ye do sacrifice;

37 L os estatutos, derechos, ley y mandamientos que os dio por escrito cuidaréis siempre de ponerlos por obra, y no temeréis a dioses ajenos.

and the statutes, and the judgments, and the law, and the command, that He wrote for you, ye observe to do all the days, and ye do not fear other gods;

38 N o olvidaréis el pacto que hice con vosotros ni temeréis a dioses ajenos,

and the covenant that I have made with you ye do not forget, and ye do not fear other gods;

39 s ino temed a Jehová, vuestro Dios, y él os librará de manos de todos vuestros enemigos.»

but Jehovah your God ye do fear, and He doth deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies;'

40 P ero ellos no escucharon, sino que hicieron según su costumbre antigua.

and they have not hearkened, but according to their former custom they are doing,

41 A sí, aquellas gentes temieron a Jehová y al mismo tiempo sirvieron a sus ídolos. También sus hijos y sus nietos, tal como hicieron sus padres, así hacen hasta hoy.

and these nations are fearing Jehovah, and their graven images they have served, both their sons and their sons' sons; as their fathers did, they are doing unto this day.
