1 S e acercaron a Jesús los fariseos y algunos de los escribas, que habían venido de Jerusalén;

And gathered together unto him are the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, having come from Jerusalem,

2 e stos, viendo a algunos de los discípulos de Jesús comer pan con manos impuras, esto es, no lavadas, los condenaban,

and having seen certain of his disciples with defiled hands -- that is, unwashed -- eating bread, they found fault;

3 ( pues los fariseos y todos los judíos, aferrándose a la tradición de los ancianos, si no se lavan muchas veces las manos, no comen.

for the Pharisees, and all the Jews, if they do not wash the hands to the wrist, do not eat, holding the tradition of the elders,

4 Y cuando regresan de la plaza, si no se lavan, no comen. Y otras muchas cosas hay que se aferran en guardar, como los lavamientos de los vasos de beber, de los jarros, de los utensilios de metal y de las camas.)

and, from the market-place, if they do not baptize themselves, they do not eat; and many other things there are that they received to hold, baptisms of cups, and pots, and brazen vessels, and couches.

5 L e preguntaron, pues, los fariseos y los escribas: —¿Por qué tus discípulos no andan conforme a la tradición de los ancianos, sino que comen pan con manos impuras?

Then question him do the Pharisees and the scribes, `Wherefore do thy disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but with unwashed hands do eat the bread?'

6 R espondiendo él, les dijo: —¡Hipócritas! Bien profetizó de vosotros Isaías, como está escrito: “Este pueblo de labios me honra, mas su corazón está lejos de mí,

and he answering said to them -- `Well did Isaiah prophesy concerning you, hypocrites, as it hath been written, This people with the lips doth honor Me, and their heart is far from Me;

7 p ues en vano me honran, enseñando como doctrinas, mandamientos de hombres”,

and in vain do they worship Me, teaching teachings, commands of men;

8 p orque, dejando el mandamiento de Dios, os aferráis a la tradición de los hombres: los lavamientos de los jarros y de los vasos de beber. Y hacéis otras muchas cosas semejantes.

for, having put away the command of God, ye hold the tradition of men, baptisms of pots and cups; and many other such like things ye do.'

9 L es decía también: —Bien invalidáis el mandamiento de Dios para guardar vuestra tradición,

And he said to them, `Well do ye put away the command of God that your tradition ye may keep;

10 p orque Moisés dijo: “Honra a tu padre y a tu madre” y “El que maldiga al padre o a la madre, muera irremisiblemente”,

for Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, He who is speaking evil of father or mother -- let him die the death;

11 p ero vosotros decís: “Basta que diga un hombre al padre o a la madre: ‘Es Corbán (que quiere decir: “Mi ofrenda a Dios”) todo aquello con que pudiera ayudarte’,”

and ye say, If a man may say to father or to mother, Korban (that is, a gift), whatever thou mayest be profited out of mine,

12 y no lo dejáis hacer más por su padre o por su madre,

and no more do ye suffer him to do anything for his father or for his mother,

13 i nvalidando la palabra de Dios con vuestra tradición que habéis transmitido. Y muchas cosas hacéis semejantes a éstas.

setting aside the word of God for your tradition that ye delivered; and many such like things ye do.'

14 L lamando a sí a toda la multitud, les dijo: —Oídme todos y entended:

And having called near all the multitude, he said to them, `Hearken to me, ye all, and understand;

15 N ada hay fuera del hombre que entre en él, que lo pueda contaminar; pero lo que sale de él, eso es lo que contamina al hombre.

there is nothing from without the man entering into him that is able to defile him, but the things coming out from him, those are the things defiling the man.

16 S i alguno tiene oídos para oír, oiga.

If any hath ears to hear -- let him hear.'

17 C uando se alejó de la multitud y entró en casa, le preguntaron sus discípulos sobre la parábola.

And when he entered into a house from the multitude, his disciples were questioning him about the simile,

18 É l les dijo: —¿También vosotros estáis así, sin entendimiento? ¿No entendéis que nada de fuera que entra en el hombre lo puede contaminar,

and he saith to them, `So also ye are without understanding! Do ye not perceive that nothing from without entering into the man is able to defile him?

19 p orque no entra en su corazón, sino en el vientre, y sale a la letrina? Esto decía, declarando limpios todos los alimentos.

because it doth not enter into his heart, but into the belly, and into the drain it doth go out, purifying all the meats.'

20 P ero decía que lo que sale del hombre, eso contamina al hombre,

And he said -- `That which is coming out from the man, that doth defile the man;

21 p orque de dentro, del corazón de los hombres, salen los malos pensamientos, los adulterios, las fornicaciones, los homicidios,

for from within, out of the heart of men, the evil reasonings do come forth, adulteries, whoredoms, murders,

22 l os hurtos, las avaricias, las maldades, el engaño, la lujuria, la envidia, la calumnia, el orgullo y la insensatez.

thefts, covetous desires, wickedness, deceit, arrogance, an evil eye, evil speaking, pride, foolishness;

23 T odas estas maldades salen de dentro y contaminan al hombre. La fe de la mujer sirofenicia

all these evils do come forth from within, and they defile the man.'

24 L evantándose de allí, se fue a la región de Tiro y de Sidón. Entró en una casa, y no quería que nadie lo supiera; pero no pudo esconderse.

And from thence having risen, he went away to the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and having entered into the house, he wished none to know, and he was not able to be hid,

25 U na mujer, cuya hija tenía un espíritu impuro, luego que oyó de él vino y se postró a sus pies.

for a woman having heard about him, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having come, fell at his feet, --

26 L a mujer era griega, sirofenicia de origen, y le rogaba que echara fuera de su hija al demonio.

and the woman was a Greek, a Syro-Phenician by nation -- and was asking him, that the demon he may cast forth out of her daughter.

27 P ero Jesús le dijo: —Deja primero que se sacien los hijos, porque no está bien tomar el pan de los hijos y echarlo a los perros.

And Jesus said to her, `Suffer first the children to be filled, for it is not good to take the children's bread, and to cast to the little dogs.'

28 R espondió ella y le dijo: —Sí, Señor; pero aun los perros, debajo de la mesa, comen de las migajas de los hijos.

And she answered and saith to him, `Yes, sir; for the little dogs also under the table do eat of the children's crumbs.'

29 E ntonces le dijo: —Por causa de esta palabra, vete; el demonio ha salido de tu hija.

And he said to her, `Because of this word go; the demon hath gone forth out of thy daughter;'

30 C uando la mujer llegó a su casa, halló a la hija acostada en la cama, y que el demonio había salido de ella. Jesús sana a un sordomudo

and having come away to her house, she found the demon gone forth, and the daughter laid upon the couch.

31 V olviendo a salir de la región de Tiro, vino por Sidón al Mar de Galilea, pasando por la región de Decápolis.

And again, having gone forth from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis,

32 L e trajeron un sordo y tartamudo, y le rogaron que pusiera la mano sobre él.

and they bring to him a deaf, stuttering man, and they call on him that he may put the hand on him.

33 E ntonces, apartándolo de la gente, le metió los dedos en los oídos, escupió y tocó su lengua.

And having taken him away from the multitude by himself, he put his fingers to his ears, and having spit, he touched his tongue,

34 L uego, levantando los ojos al cielo, gimió y le dijo: —¡Efata! (que quiere decir: “Sé abierto.”)

and having looked to the heaven, he sighed, and saith to him, `Ephphatha,' that is, `Be thou opened;'

35 A l momento fueron abiertos sus oídos, se desató la ligadura de su lengua y hablaba bien.

and immediately were his ears opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he was speaking plain.

36 Y les mandó que no lo dijeran a nadie; pero, cuanto más les mandaba, tanto más y más lo divulgaban.

And he charged them that they may tell no one, but the more he was charging them, the more abundantly they were proclaiming,

37 Y en gran manera se maravillaban, diciendo: —Bien lo ha hecho todo; hace a los sordos oír y a los mudos hablar.

and they were being beyond measure astonished, saying, `Well hath he done all things; both the deaf he doth make to hear, and the dumb to speak.'
