1 D espués de separarnos de ellos, zarpamos y fuimos con rumbo directo a Cos; al día siguiente, a Rodas, y de allí a Pátara.

And it came to pass, at our sailing, having been parted from them, having run direct, we came to Coos, and the succeeding to Rhodes, and thence to Patara,

2 Y hallando un barco que pasaba a Fenicia, nos embarcamos y zarpamos.

and having found a ship passing over to Phenicia, having gone on board, we sailed,

3 A l avistar Chipre, dejándola a mano izquierda, navegamos a Siria y llegamos a Tiro, porque el barco había de descargar allí.

and having discovered Cyprus, and having left it on the left, we were sailing to Syria, and did land at Tyre, for there was the ship discharging the lading.

4 H allamos a los discípulos y nos quedamos allí siete días; y ellos, por el Espíritu, decían a Pablo que no subiera a Jerusalén.

And having found out the disciples, we tarried there seven days, and they said to Paul, through the Spirit, not to go up to Jerusalem;

5 C umplidos aquellos días, salimos. Todos, con sus mujeres e hijos, nos acompañaron hasta las afueras de la ciudad, y puestos de rodillas en la playa, oramos.

but when it came that we completed the days, having gone forth, we went on, all bringing us on the way, with women and children, unto the outside of the city, and having bowed the knees upon the shore, we prayed,

6 Y abrazándonos los unos a los otros, subimos al barco y ellos se volvieron a sus casas.

and having embraced one another, we embarked in the ship, and they returned to their own friends.

7 N osotros completamos la navegación saliendo de Tiro y llegando a Tolemaida; saludamos a los hermanos, y nos quedamos con ellos un día.

And we, having finished the course, from Tyre came down to Ptolemais, and having saluted the brethren, we remained one day with them;

8 A l otro día, saliendo Pablo y los que con él estábamos, fuimos a Cesarea; entramos en casa de Felipe, el evangelista, que era uno de los siete, y nos hospedamos con él.

and on the morrow Paul and his company having gone forth, we came to Cesarea, and having entered into the house of Philip the evangelist -- who is of the seven -- we remained with him,

9 É ste tenía cuatro hijas doncellas que profetizaban.

and this one had four daughters, virgins, prophesying.

10 M ientras nosotros permanecíamos allí algunos días, descendió de Judea un profeta llamado Agabo,

And we remaining many more days, there came down a certain one from Judea, a prophet, by name Agabus,

11 q uien, viniendo a vernos, tomó el cinto de Pablo, se ató los pies y las manos y dijo: —Esto dice el Espíritu Santo: “Así atarán los judíos en Jerusalén al hombre de quien es este cinto, y lo entregarán en manos de los gentiles.”

and he having come unto us, and having taken up the girdle of Paul, having bound also his own hands and feet, said, `Thus saith the Holy Spirit, The man whose is this girdle -- so shall the Jews in Jerusalem bind, and they shall deliver up to the hands of nations.'

12 A l oír esto, le rogamos nosotros y los de aquel lugar que no subiera a Jerusalén.

And when we heard these things, we called upon -- both we, and those of that place -- not to go up to Jerusalem,

13 P ero Pablo respondió: —¿Qué hacéis llorando y quebrantándome el corazón?, pues yo estoy dispuesto no sólo a ser atado, sino también a morir en Jerusalén por el nombre del Señor Jesús.

and Paul answered, `What do ye -- weeping, and crushing mine heart? for I, not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem, am ready, for the name of the Lord Jesus;'

14 C omo no lo pudimos persuadir, desistimos, diciendo: —Hágase la voluntad del Señor.

and he not being persuaded, we were silent, saying, `The will of the Lord be done.'

15 D espués de esos días, hechos ya los preparativos, subimos a Jerusalén.

And after these days, having taken vessels, we were going up to Jerusalem,

16 Y vinieron también con nosotros algunos de los discípulos de Cesarea, trayendo consigo a uno llamado Mnasón, de Chipre, discípulo antiguo, con quien nos hospedaríamos. Arresto de Pablo en el Templo

and there went also of the disciples from Cesarea with us, bringing with them him with whom we may lodge, a certain Mnason of Cyprus, an aged disciple.

17 C uando llegamos a Jerusalén, los hermanos nos recibieron con gozo.

And we having come to Jerusalem, the brethren did gladly receive us,

18 A l día siguiente, Pablo entró con nosotros a ver a Jacobo, y se hallaban reunidos todos los ancianos;

and on the morrow Paul was going in with us unto James, all the elders also came,

19 a los cuales, después de haberlos saludado, les contó una por una las cosas que Dios había hecho entre los gentiles por su ministerio.

and having saluted them, he was declaring, one by one, each of the things God did among the nations through his ministration,

20 C uando ellos lo oyeron, glorificaron a Dios, y le dijeron: —Ya ves, hermano, cuántos millares de judíos hay que han creído; y todos son celosos por la Ley.

and they having heard, were glorifying the Lord. They said also to him, `Thou seest, brother, how many myriads there are of Jews who have believed, and all are zealous of the law,

21 P ero se les ha informado en cuanto a ti, que enseñas a todos los judíos que están entre los gentiles a apostatar de Moisés, diciéndoles que no circunciden a sus hijos ni observen las costumbres.

and they are instructed concerning thee, that apostacy from Moses thou dost teach to all Jews among the nations, saying -- Not to circumcise the children, nor after the customs to walk;

22 ¿ Qué hay, pues? La multitud se reunirá de cierto, porque oirán que has venido.

what then is it? certainly the multitude it behoveth to come together, for they will hear that thou hast come.

23 H az, pues, esto que te decimos: Hay entre nosotros cuatro hombres que tienen obligación de cumplir voto.

`This, therefore, do that we say to thee: We have four men having a vow on themselves,

24 T ómalos contigo, purifícate con ellos y paga sus gastos para que se rasuren la cabeza; y todos comprenderán que no hay nada de lo que se les informó acerca de ti, sino que tú también andas ordenadamente, guardando la Ley.

these having taken, be purified with them, and be at expence with them, that they may shave the head, and all may know that the things of which they have been instructed concerning thee are nothing, but thou dost walk -- thyself also -- the law keeping.

25 P ero en cuanto a los gentiles que han creído, nosotros les hemos escrito determinando que no guarden nada de esto; solamente que se abstengan de lo sacrificado a los ídolos, de sangre, de ahogado y de fornicación.

`And concerning those of the nations who have believed, we have written, having given judgment, that they observe no such thing, except to keep themselves both from idol-sacrifices, and blood, and a strangled thing, and whoredom.'

26 E ntonces Pablo tomó consigo a aquellos hombres, y al día siguiente, habiéndose purificado con ellos, entró en el Templo para anunciar el cumplimiento de los días de la purificación, cuando había de presentarse la ofrenda por cada uno de ellos.

Then Paul, having taken the men, on the following day, with them having purified himself, was entering into the temple, announcing the fulfilment of the days of the purification, till the offering was offered for each one of them.

27 P ero cuando estaban para cumplirse los siete días, unos judíos de Asia, al verlo en el Templo, alborotaron a toda la multitud y le echaron mano,

And, as the seven days were about to be fully ended, the Jews from Asia having beheld him in the temple, were stirring up all the multitude, and they laid hands upon him,

28 g ritando: —¡Israelitas, ayudad! Éste es el hombre que por todas partes enseña a todos contra el pueblo, la Ley y este lugar; y además de esto, ha metido a griegos en el Templo y ha profanado este santo lugar.

crying out, `Men, Israelites, help! this is the man who, against the people, and the law, and this place, all everywhere is teaching; and further, also, Greeks he brought into the temple, and hath defiled this holy place;'

29 D ecían esto porque antes habían visto con él en la ciudad a Trófimo, de Éfeso, a quien pensaban que Pablo había metido en el Templo.

for they had seen before Trophimus, the Ephesian, in the city with him, whom they were supposing that Paul brought into the temple.

30 T oda la ciudad se alborotó, y se agolpó el pueblo. Apoderándose de Pablo, lo arrastraron fuera del Templo, e inmediatamente cerraron las puertas.

All the city also was moved and there was a running together of the people, and having laid hold on Paul, they were drawing him out of the temple, and immediately were the doors shut,

31 I ntentaban ellos matarlo, cuando se le avisó al comandante de la compañía que toda la ciudad de Jerusalén estaba alborotada.

and they seeking to kill him, a rumour came to the chief captain of the band that all Jerusalem hath been thrown into confusion,

32 É ste, inmediatamente tomó soldados y centuriones y corrió a ellos. Cuando ellos vieron al comandante y a los soldados, dejaron de golpear a Pablo.

who, at once, having taken soldiers and centurions, ran down upon them, and they having seen the chief captain and the soldiers, did leave off beating Paul.

33 E ntonces, llegando el comandante, lo prendió y lo mandó atar con dos cadenas, y preguntó quién era y qué había hecho.

Then the chief captain, having come nigh, took him, and commanded to be bound with two chains, and was inquiring who he may be, and what it is he hath been doing,

34 P ero, entre la multitud, unos gritaban una cosa y otros otra; y como no podía entender nada de cierto a causa del alboroto, lo mandó llevar a la fortaleza.

and some were crying out one thing, and some another, among the multitude, and not being able to know the certainty because of the tumult, he commanded him to be carried to the castle,

35 A l llegar a las gradas, aconteció que era llevado en peso por los soldados a causa de la violencia de la multitud,

and when he came upon the steps, it happened he was borne by the soldiers, because of the violence of the multitude,

36 p orque la muchedumbre del pueblo venía detrás, gritando: —¡Muera! Defensa de Pablo ante el pueblo

for the crowd of the people was following after, crying, `Away with him.'

37 C uando estaban a punto de meterlo en la fortaleza, Pablo dijo al comandante: —¿Se me permite decirte algo? Y él dijo: —¿Sabes griego?

And Paul being about to be led into the castle, saith to the chief captain, `Is it permitted to me to say anything unto thee?' and he said, `Greek dost thou know?

38 ¿ No eres tú aquel egipcio que levantó una sedición antes de estos días y sacó al desierto los cuatro mil sicarios?

art not thou, then, the Egyptian who before these days made an uprising, and did lead into the desert the four thousand men of the assassins?'

39 E ntonces dijo Pablo: —Yo de cierto soy hombre judío de Tarso, ciudadano de una ciudad no insignificante de Cilicia; pero te ruego que me permitas hablar al pueblo.

And Paul said, `I, indeed, am a man, a Jew, of Tarsus of Cilicia, of no mean city a citizen; and I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.'

40 C uando él se lo permitió, Pablo, de pie en las gradas, hizo señal con la mano al pueblo. Se hizo un gran silencio, y comenzó a hablar en lengua hebrea, diciendo:

And he having given him leave, Paul having stood upon the stairs, did beckon with the hand to the people, and there having been a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew dialect, saying:
