1 A la vuelta de un año, y mientras David estaba en Jerusalén, Joab llevó a campaña al ejército en pleno y fue y sitió la ciudad de Rabá y la conquistó, destruyendo por completo la tierra de los amonitas. Esto sucedió en los días en que los reyes acostumbran salir a la guerra.

And it cometh to pass, at the time of the turn of the year -- at the time of the going out of the messengers -- that Joab leadeth out the force of the host, and destroyeth the land of the sons of Ammon, and cometh in and beseigeth Rabbah -- David is abiding in Jerusalem -- and Joab smiteth Rabbah, and breaketh it down.

2 D avid le quitó al rey de Rabá la corona de oro, la cual pesaba treinta y tres kilos y estaba adornada de piedras preciosas, y con ella fue coronado David. Además de esto, David sacó de la ciudad cuantioso botín de guerra,

And David taketh the crown of their king from off his head, and findeth it weight a talent of gold, and in it a precious stone, and it is on the head of David: and spoil of the city he hath brought out very much,

3 y sacó también a la gente que estaba en ella y la puso a trabajar con sierras, trillos de hierro y hachas. Esto mismo lo hizo David con todas las ciudades amonitas, y después de eso David volvió a Jerusalén con todo su ejército. Los hombres de David matan a los gigantes

and the people who in it he hath brought out, and setteth to the saw, and to cutting instruments of iron, and to axes; and thus doth David to all cities of the sons of Ammon, and David turneth back, and all the people, to Jerusalem.

4 D espués de esto se desató en Guézer la guerra contra los filisteos. Sibecay el husatita mató a Sipay, que descendía de los gigantes, y los filisteos fueron derrotados.

And it cometh to pass, after this, that there remaineth war in Gezer with the Philistines, then hath Sibbechai the Hushathite smitten Sippai, of the children of the giant, and they are humbled.

5 P ero hubo otra guerra contra los filisteos, y Eljanán hijo de Yaír mató a Lamí, que era hermano de Goliat de Gat, el que blandía una lanza parecida al rodillo de un telar.

And there is again war with the Philistines, and Elhanan son of Jair smiteth Lahmi, brother of Goliath the Gittite, the wood of whose spear like a beam of weavers.

6 Y se desató en Gat una guerra más, en la que participó un guerrero de gran estatura, el cual tenía seis dedos en cada mano y en cada pie, es decir, un total de veinticuatro dedos. Éste era descendiente de los gigantes,

And there is again war in Gath, and there is a man of measure, and his fingers and his toes six and six, twenty and four, and also, he hath been born to the giant.

7 y se puso a insultar a los israelitas, pero Jonatán hijo de Simea, hermano de David, lo mató.

And he reproacheth Israel, and smite him doth Jonathan son of Shimea, brother of David.

8 É stos fueron los descendientes de los gigantes de Gat, que perdieron la vida a manos de David y de sus siervos.

These were born to the giant in Gath, and they fall by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
