1 A sí que, los que somos fuertes debemos soportar las flaquezas de los débiles, en vez de hacer lo que nos agrada.

And we ought -- we who are strong -- to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves;

2 C ada uno de nosotros debe agradar a su prójimo en lo que es bueno, con el fin de edificarlo.

for let each one of us please the neighbor for good, unto edification,

3 P orque ni aun Cristo se agradó a sí mismo sino que, como está escrito: «Las ofensas de los que te insultaban cayeron sobre mí.»

for even the Christ did not please himself, but, according as it hath been written, `The reproaches of those reproaching Thee fell upon me;'

4 L as cosas que se escribieron antes, se escribieron para nuestra enseñanza, a fin de que tengamos esperanza por medio de la paciencia y la consolación de las Escrituras.

for, as many things as were written before, for our instruction were written before, that through the endurance, and the exhortation of the Writings, we might have the hope.

5 Q ue el Dios de la paciencia y de la consolación les conceda a ustedes un mismo sentir, según Cristo Jesús,

And may the God of the endurance, and of the exhortation, give to you to have the same mind toward one another, according to Christ Jesus;

6 p ara que todos juntos y a una sola voz glorifiquen al Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. El evangelio a los no judíos

that with one accord -- with one mouth -- ye may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ;

7 P or tanto, recíbanse unos a otros, como también Cristo nos recibió, para la gloria de Dios.

wherefore receive ye one another, according as also the Christ did receive us, to the glory of God.

8 P ues les digo que Cristo Jesús vino a ser siervo de los judíos para mostrar la verdad de Dios, para confirmar las promesas hechas a nuestros antepasados,

And I say Jesus Christ to have become a ministrant of circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises to the fathers,

9 y para que los que no son judíos glorifiquen a Dios por su misericordia, como está escrito: «Por tanto, yo te confesaré entre las naciones, Y cantaré salmos a tu nombre.»

and the nations for kindness to glorify God, according as it hath been written, `Because of this I will confess to Thee among nations, and to Thy name I will sing praise,'

10 Y en otra parte dice: «Alégrense, naciones, con su pueblo.»

and again it saith, `Rejoice ye nations, with His people;'

11 Y también dice: «Alaben al Señor todas las naciones, Y exáltenlo todos los pueblos.»

and again, `Praise the Lord, all ye nations; and laud Him, all ye peoples;'

12 Y otra vez dice Isaías: «Se alzará la raíz de Yesé; se levantará a gobernar a las naciones, las cuales pondrán en él su esperanza.»

and again, Isaiah saith, `There shall be the root of Jesse, and he who is rising to rule nations -- upon him shall nations hope;'

13 ¡ Que el Dios de la esperanza los llene de todo gozo y paz en la fe, para que rebosen de esperanza por el poder del Espíritu Santo!

and the God of the hope shall fill you with all joy and peace in the believing, for your abounding in the hope in power of the Holy Spirit.

14 E stoy seguro, hermanos míos, de que ustedes mismos están llenos de bondad y de todo conocimiento, de tal manera que pueden amonestarse unos a otros.

And I am persuaded, my brethren -- I myself also -- concerning you, that ye yourselves also are full of goodness, having been filled with all knowledge, able also one another to admonish;

15 P ero les he escrito con toda franqueza, como para hacerles recordar, por la gracia que Dios me ha dado,

and the more boldly I did write to you, brethren, in part, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me by God,

16 p ara ser ministro de Jesucristo a los no judíos y ministrarles el evangelio de Dios, para que ellos sean una ofrenda agradable a Dios, santificada por el Espíritu Santo.

for my being a servant of Jesus Christ to the nations, acting as priest in the good news of God, that the offering up of the nations may become acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

17 T engo, pues, de qué gloriarme en Cristo Jesús en lo que a Dios se refiere.

I have, then, a boasting in Christ Jesus, in the things pertaining to God,

18 P orque no me atrevería a contar sino lo que, de palabra y obra, Cristo ha hecho por medio de mí para la obediencia de los no judíos;

for I will not dare to speak anything of the things that Christ did not work through me, to obedience of nations, by word and deed,

19 y esto mediante poderosas señales y prodigios, en el poder del Espíritu de Dios, de tal manera que desde Jerusalén y por los alrededores hasta Ilírico, todo lo he llenado del evangelio de Cristo.

in power of signs and wonders, in power of the Spirit of God; so that I, from Jerusalem, and in a circle as far as Illyricum, have fully preached the good news of the Christ;

20 F ue así como me esforcé a predicar el evangelio, no donde Cristo ya hubiera sido anunciado, para no edificar sobre fundamento ajeno,

and so counting it honour to proclaim good news, not where Christ was named -- that upon another's foundation I might not build --

21 s ino, como está escrito: «Aquellos a quienes nunca les fue anunciado acerca de él, verán; Y los que nunca han oído de él, entenderán.» Pablo se propone ir a Roma

but according as it hath been written, `To whom it was not told concerning him, they shall see; and they who have not heard, shall understand.'

22 P or esto muchas veces no me ha sido posible ir a visitarlos;

Wherefore, also, I was hindered many times from coming unto you,

23 p ero como no me queda más tarea pendiente en estas regiones, y como desde hace muchos años deseo ir a verlos,

and now, no longer having place in these parts, and having a longing to come unto you for many years,

24 i ré a visitarlos ahora que vaya a España. Espero verlos cuando pase por allá, y que me ayuden a continuar con mi viaje, luego de haber disfrutado de su compañía.

when I may go on to Spain I will come unto you, for I hope in going through, to see you, and by you to be set forward thither, if of you first, in part, I shall be filled.

25 P ero ahora voy a Jerusalén para servir a los santos.

And, now, I go on to Jerusalem, ministering to the saints;

26 M acedonia y Acaya tuvieron a bien hacer una ofrenda para los pobres que hay entre los santos que están en Jerusalén,

for it pleased Macedonia and Achaia well to make a certain contribution for the poor of the saints who in Jerusalem;

27 p ues les pareció que era lo correcto, y se sienten en deuda con ellos. Porque si los que no son judíos han sido hechos partícipes de las bendiciones espirituales, deben también compartir las bendiciones materiales.

for it pleased well, and their debtors they are, for if in their spiritual things the nations did participate, they ought also, in the fleshly things, to minister to them.

28 A sí que, cuando esto haya concluido y yo les haya entregado este fruto, pasaré a visitarlos de camino a España,

This, then, having finished, and having sealed to them this fruit, I will return through you, to Spain;

29 y sé que, cuando los visite, llegaré con la abundante bendición del evangelio de Cristo.

and I have known that coming unto you -- in the fulness of the blessing of the good news of Christ I shall come.

30 P ero les ruego, hermanos, por nuestro Señor Jesucristo y por el amor del Espíritu, que me ayuden con sus oraciones a Dios por mí,

And I call upon you, brethren, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and through the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in the prayers for me unto God,

31 p ara que sea yo librado de los rebeldes que están en Judea, y que la ofrenda de mi servicio a los santos en Jerusalén sea agradable,

that I may be delivered from those not believing in Judea, and that my ministration, that for Jerusalem, may become acceptable to the saints;

32 p ara que, por la voluntad de Dios, llegue a ustedes gozoso y pueda descansar entre ustedes.

that in joy I may come unto you, through the will of God, and may be refreshed with you,

33 Q ue el Dios de paz sea con todos ustedes. Amén.

and the God of the peace with you all. Amen.
