1 D espués de esto sucedió que el copero y el panadero del rey de Egipto delinquieron contra su señor, el rey de Egipto,

And it cometh to pass, after these things -- the butler of the king of Egypt and the baker have sinned against their lord, against the king of Egypt;

2 y éste se enojó contra sus dos oficiales, es decir, contra el jefe de los coperos y el jefe de los panaderos,

and Pharaoh is wroth against his two eunuchs, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers,

3 y los puso en prisión, en la cárcel donde José estaba preso, es decir, en la casa del capitán de la guardia.

and giveth them in charge in the house of the chief of the executioners, unto the round-house, the place where Joseph a prisoner,

4 E l capitán de la guardia puso a José a cargo de ellos, y él les servía, y ellos estuvieron en la prisión muchos días.

and the chief of the executioners chargeth Joseph with them, and he serveth them; and they are days in charge.

5 A llí en la prisión, en una misma noche, tanto el copero como el panadero del rey de Egipto tuvieron cada uno un sueño, y cada sueño tenía su propio significado.

And they dream a dream both of them, each his dream in one night, each according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker whom the king of Egypt hath, who prisoners in the round-house.

6 C uando José vino a verlos por la mañana, los miró y notó que estaban tristes.

And Joseph cometh in unto them in the morning, and seeth them, and lo, they morose;

7 E ntonces les preguntó a esos oficiales del faraón, que estaban presos como él en la casa de su señor: «¿Por qué tienen hoy tan mal semblante?»

and he asketh Pharaoh's eunuchs who with him in charge in the house of his lord, saying, `Wherefore your faces sad to-day?'

8 E llos le dijeron: «Hemos tenido un sueño, y no hay quien lo interprete.» Y José les dijo: «¿Acaso no corresponde a Dios interpretar los sueños? Cuéntenmelo ahora.»

And they say unto him, `A dream we have dreamed, and there is no interpreter of it;' and Joseph saith unto them, `Are not interpretations with God? recount, I pray you, to me.'

9 E ntonces el jefe de los coperos le contó su sueño a José, y le dijo: «En mi sueño, veía yo una vid delante de mí;

And the chief of the butlers recounteth his dream to Joseph, and saith to him, `In my dream, then lo, a vine before me!

10 e n la vid había tres sarmientos. La vid parecía brotar y arrojar su flor, y las uvas de sus racimos maduraban.

and in the vine three branches, and it as it were flourishing; gone up hath its blossom, its clusters have ripened grapes;

11 Y o tenía en la mano la copa del faraón, y tomaba las uvas y las exprimía en la copa, y daba al faraón la copa en su mano.»

and Pharaoh's cup in my hand, and I take the grapes and press them into the cup of Pharaoh, and I give the cup into the hand of Pharaoh.'

12 J osé le dijo: «Ésta es la interpretación: los tres sarmientos son tres días.

And Joseph saith to him, `This its interpretation: the three branches are three days;

13 A l cabo de tres días el faraón te levantará la cabeza y te restituirá a tu puesto, y tú le darás la copa al faraón en la mano, como solías hacerlo cuando eras su copero.

yet, within three days doth Pharaoh lift up thy head, and hath put thee back on thy station, and thou hast given the cup of Pharaoh into his hand, according to the former custom when thou wast his butler.

14 A sí que acuérdate de mí cuando recibas ese beneficio. Yo te ruego que me trates con misericordia. Haz mención de mí ante el faraón, y sácame de esta prisión.

`Surely if thou hast remembered me with thee, when it is well with thee, and hast done (I pray thee) kindness with me, and hast made mention of me unto Pharaoh, then hast thou brought me out from this house,

15 P orque a mí me secuestraron de la tierra de los hebreos, y aquí no he hecho nada para que me hayan puesto en la cárcel.»

for I was really stolen from the land of the Hebrews; and here also have I done nothing that they have put me in the pit.'

16 A l ver el jefe de los panaderos que José había hecho una buena interpretación, le dijo: «También yo soñé que veía tres canastillos blancos sobre mi cabeza.

And the chief of the bakers seeth that he hath interpreted good, and he saith unto Joseph, `I also in a dream, and lo, three baskets of white bread on my head,

17 E n el canastillo más alto había toda clase de manjares y pasteles para el faraón, y las aves los comían del canastillo que estaba sobre mi cabeza.»

and in the uppermost basket of all of Pharaoh's food, work of a baker; and the birds are eating them out of the basket, from off my head.'

18 J osé respondió, y dijo: «Ésta es la interpretación: Los tres canastillos son tres días.

And Joseph answereth and saith, `This its interpretation: the three baskets are three days;

19 A l cabo de tres días el faraón te levantará la cabeza, y hará que te cuelguen en la horca, y las aves te arrancarán la carne para comérsela.»

yet, within three days doth Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and hath hanged thee on a tree, and the birds have eaten thy flesh from off thee.'

20 A l tercer día, que era el día del cumpleaños del faraón, éste ofreció un banquete para todos sus sirvientes; y en medio de sus servidores levantó la cabeza del jefe de los coperos y la cabeza del jefe de los panaderos.

And it cometh to pass, on the third day, Pharaoh's birthday, that he maketh a banquet to all his servants, and lifteth up the head of the chief of the butlers, and the head of the chief of the bakers among his servants,

21 A l jefe de los coperos lo hizo volver a su puesto, y éste daba al faraón la copa en su mano;

and he putteth back the chief of the butlers to his butlership, and he giveth the cup into the hand of Pharaoh;

22 p ero al jefe de los panaderos lo mandó a la horca, conforme a la interpretación que José les había hecho.

and the chief of the bakers he hath hanged, as Joseph hath interpreted to them;

23 P ero el jefe de los coperos, lejos de acordarse de José, se olvidó de él.

and the chief of the butlers hath not remembered Joseph, but forgetteth him.
