1 L 'Eterno visitò Sara come aveva detto; e l'Eterno fece a Sara come aveva promesso.

And Jehovah hath looked after Sarah as He hath said, and Jehovah doth to Sarah as He hath spoken;

2 E Sara concepì e partorì un figlio ad Abrahamo nella sua vecchiaia, al tempo stabilito, che DIO gli aveva detto.

and Sarah conceiveth, and beareth a son to Abraham, to his old age, at the appointed time that God hath spoken of with him;

3 E Abrahamo pose nome Isacco al figlio che gli era nato, e che Sara gli aveva partorito.

and Abraham calleth the name of his son who is born to him, whom Sarah hath born to him -- Isaac;

4 P oi Abrahamo circoncise suo figlio Isacco all'età di otto giorni, come DIO gli aveva comandato.

and Abraham circumciseth Isaac his son, a son of eight days, as God hath commanded him.

5 O ra Abrahamo aveva cento anni, quando gli nacque suo figlio Isacco.

And Abraham a son of a hundred years in Isaac his son being born to him,

6 E Sara disse: «DIO mi ha dato di che ridere; chiunque lo udrà riderà con me».

and Sarah saith, `God hath made laughter for me; every one who is hearing laugheth for me.'

7 E disse pure: «Chi avrebbe mai detto ad Abrahamo che Sara allatterebbe figli? Poiché io gli ho partorito un figlio nella sua vecchiaia».

She saith also, `Who hath said to Abraham, Sarah hath suckled sons, that I have born a son for his old age?'

8 I l bambino dunque crebbe e fu svezzato; e nel giorno che Isacco fu svezzato Abrahamo fece un gran convito.

And the lad groweth, and is weaned, and Abraham maketh a great banquet in the day of Isaac's being weaned;

9 O ra Sara vide che il figlio partorito ad Abrahamo da Agar, l'egiziana, rideva.

and Sarah seeth the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she hath borne to Abraham, mocking,

10 A llora ella disse ad Abrahamo: «Scaccia questa serva e suo figlio, perché il figlio di questa serva non dev'essere erede con mio figlio, con Isacco».

and she saith to Abraham, `Cast out this handmaid and her son; for the son of this handmaid hath no possession with my son -- with Isaac.'

11 L a cosa dispiacque grandemente ad Abrahamo, a motivo di suo figlio.

And the thing is very wrong in the eyes of Abraham, for his son's sake;

12 M a DIO disse ad Abrahamo: «Non essere addolorato a motivo del ragazzo e della tua serva; dà ascolto a tutto quello che Sara ti dice, perché uscirà da Isacco la discendenza che porterà il tuo nome.

and God saith unto Abraham, `Let it not be wrong in thine eyes because of the youth, and because of thy handmaid: all that Sarah saith unto thee -- hearken to her voice, for in Isaac is a seed called to thee.

13 M a anche del figlio di questa serva io farò una nazione, perché è tua discendenza».

As to the son of the handmaid also, for a nation I set him, because he thy seed.'

14 A brahamo si levò al mattino presto, prese del pane e un otre d'acqua e li diede ad Agar; mise tutto sulle sue spalle e la mandò via assieme al fanciullo. Così ella partì e andò errando per il deserto di Beer-Sceba.

And Abraham riseth early in the morning, and taketh bread, and a bottle of water, and giveth unto Hagar (placing on her shoulder), also the lad, and sendeth her out; and she goeth on, and goeth astray in the wilderness of Beer-Sheba;

15 Q uando l'acqua dell'otre finì, ella mise il fanciullo sotto un cespuglio.

and the water is consumed from the bottle, and she placeth the lad under one of the shrubs.

16 E andò a sedersi di fronte a lui, alla distanza di un tiro d'arco, perché diceva: «Non voglio vedere il fanciullo morire!». Così ella si sedette di fronte a lui e alzò la voce e pianse.

And she goeth and sitteth by herself over-against, afar off, about a bow-shot, for she said, `Let me not look on the death of the lad;' and she sitteth over-against, and lifteth up her voice, and weepeth.

17 E DIO udì la voce del ragazzo; e l'angelo di DIO chiamò Agar dal cielo e le disse: «Che hai, Agar? Non temere, perché DIO ha udito la voce del ragazzo là dove si trova.

And God heareth the voice of the youth; and the messenger of God calleth unto Hagar from the heavens, and saith to her, `What to thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath hearkened unto the voice of the youth where he;

18 L evati, solleva il ragazzo e tienilo forte con la tua mano, perché io farò di lui una grande nazione».

rise, lift up the youth, and lay hold on him with thy hand, for for a great nation I set him.'

19 A llora DIO le aperse gli occhi ed ella vide un pozzo d'acqua; così andò a riempire d'acqua l'otre e diede da bere al ragazzo.

And God openeth her eyes, and she seeth a well of water, and she goeth and filleth the bottle water, and causeth the youth to drink;

20 E DIO fu col ragazzo; ed egli crebbe, abitò nel deserto e divenne un tiratore d'arco.

and God is with the youth, and he groweth, and dwelleth in the wilderness, and is an archer;

21 E gli abitò nel deserto di Paran e sua madre gli prese una moglie dal paese d'Egitto.

and he dwelleth in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother taketh for him a wife from the land of Egypt.

22 I n quel tempo Abimelek, assieme a Pikol, capo del suo esercito, parlò ad Abrahamo, dicendo: «DIO è con te in tutto quello che fai;

And it cometh to pass at that time that Abimelech speaketh -- Phichol also, head of his host -- unto Abraham, saying, `God with thee in all that thou art doing;

23 O ra dunque giurami qui nel nome i Dio, che tu non ingannerai né me né i miei figli né i miei nipoti, ma che userai verso di me e verso il paese dove hai soggiornato come forestiero la stessa benevolenza che io ho usato verso di te».

and now, swear to me by God here: thou dost not lie to me, or to my continuator, or to my successor; according to the kindness which I have done with thee thou dost with me, and with the land in which thou hast sojourned.'

24 A brahamo rispose: «Lo giuro»

And Abraham saith, `I -- I do swear.'

25 P oi Abrahamo rimproverò Abimelek a motivo di un pozzo d'acqua, di cui i servi di Abimelek si erano impadroniti.

And Abraham reasoned with Abimelech concerning the matter of a well of water which Abimelech's servants have taken violently away,

26 A bimelek disse: «io non so chi abbia fatto questo; tu stesso non me lo hai fatto sapere e io non ne ho sentito parlare che oggi».

and Abimelech saith, `I have not known who hath done this thing, and even thou didst not declare to me, and I also, I have not heard save to-day.'

27 A llora Abrahamo prese pecore e buoi e li diede ad Abimelek; e i due fecero alleanza.

And Abraham taketh sheep and oxen, and giveth to Abimelech, and they make, both of them, a covenant;

28 P oi Abrahamo mise da parte sette agnelle del gregge.

and Abraham setteth seven Lambs of the flock by themselves.

29 E Abimelek disse ad Abrahamo: «Che vogliono dire queste sette agnelle che tu hai messo da parte?».

And Abimelech saith unto Abraham, `What they -- these seven lambs which thou hast set by themselves?'

30 A brahamo rispose: «Tu accetterai dalla mia mano queste sette agnelle, perché ciò mi serva da testimonianza che io ho scavato questo pozzo».

And he saith, `For -- the seven lambs thou dost accept from my hand, so that it becometh a witness for me that I have digged this well;'

31 P erciò egli chiamò quel luogo Beer-Sceba, perché là avevano fatto ambedue giuramento.

therefore hath he called that place `Beer-Sheba,' for there have both of them sworn.

32 C osì fecero alleanza a Beer-Sceba. Poi Abimelek e Pikol, capo del suo esercito, si alzarono e se ne tornarono nel paese dei Filistei.

And they make a covenant in Beer-Sheba, and Abimelech riseth -- Phichol also, head of his host -- and they turn back unto the land of the Philistines;

33 P oi Abrahamo piantò un tamarisco a Beer-Sceba e là invocò il nome dell'Eterno, il Dio d'eternità.

and planteth a tamarask in Beer-Sheba, and preacheth there in the name of Jehovah, God age-during;

34 A brahamo soggiornò come forestiero molto tempo nel paese dei Filistei.

and Abraham sojourneth in the land of the Philistines many days.
