1 L 'Eterno parlò a Mosè, dicendo:

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

2 « Consacrami ogni primogenito, quello che apre il grembo tra i figli d'Israele, tanto di uomini che di animali; esso mi appartiene».

`Sanctify to Me every first-born, opening any womb among the sons of Israel, among man and among beast; it Mine.'

3 Q uindi Mosè disse a popolo: «Ricordatevi di questo giorno, ne quale siete usciti dall'Egitto, dalla casa di schiavitú; poiché l'Eterno vi ha fatto uscire da questo luogo con mano potente; non si mangerà pane lievitato.

And Moses saith unto the people, `Remember this day which ye have gone out from Egypt, from the house of servants, for by strength of hand hath Jehovah brought you out from this, and any thing fermented is not eaten;

4 V oi uscite oggi, nel mese di Abib.

To-day ye are going out, in the month of Abib.

5 Q uando dunque l'Eterno ti avrà fatto entrare nel paese dei Cananei, degli Hittei, degli Amorei, degli Hivvei e dei Gebusei che ha giurato ai tuoi padri di darti, paese dove scorre latte e miele, osserverai questo rito in questo mese.

`And it hath been, when Jehovah bringeth thee in unto the land of the Canaanite, and of the Hittite, and of the Amorite, and of the Hivite, and of the Jebusite, which He hath sworn to thy fathers to give to thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou hast done this service in this month.

6 P er sette giorni mangerai pane senza lievito; e il settimo giorno si farà una festa all'Eterno.

`Seven days thou dost eat unleavened things, and in the seventh day a feast to Jehovah;

7 S i mangerà pane senza lievito per sette giorni; e non si vedrà pane lievitato presso di te, né si vedrà lievito presso di te, entro tutti i tuoi confini.

unleavened things are eaten the seven days, and any thing fermented is not seen with thee; yea, leaven is not seen with thee in all thy border.

8 I n quel giorno tu spiegherai la cosa a tuo figlio, dicendo: "Si fa così a motivo di quello che l'Eterno fece per me quando uscii dall'Egitto".

`And thou hast declared to thy son in that day, saying, ` because of what Jehovah did to me, in my going out from Egypt,

9 E sarà per te come un segno sulla tua mano e come un ricordo fra i tuoi occhi, affinché la legge dell'Eterno sia nella tua bocca; poiché l'Eterno ti ha fatto uscire dall'Egitto con mano potente.

and it hath been to thee for a sign on thy hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, so that the law of Jehovah is in thy mouth, for by a strong hand hath Jehovah brought thee out from Egypt;

10 O sserva dunque questa prescrizione nel tempo stabilito, di anno in anno.

and thou hast kept this statute at its appointed season from days to days.

11 Q uando l'Eterno ti avrà fatto entrare nel paese dei Cananei, come giurò a te e ai tuoi padri, e te lo avrà dato,

`And it hath been, when Jehovah bringeth thee in unto the land of the Canaanite, as He hath sworn to thee and to thy fathers, and hath given it to thee,

12 c onsacrerai all'Eterno tutti quelli che aprono il grembo e ogni primo parto del bestiame che ti appartiene: i maschi apparterranno all'Eterno.

that thou hast caused every one opening a womb to pass over to Jehovah, and every firstling -- the increase of beasts which thou hast: the males Jehovah's.

13 M a riscatterai ogni primo parto dell'asino con un agnello; se però non lo vuoi riscattare, gli spezzerai il collo; così riscatterai ogni primogenito dell'uomo fra i tuoi figli.

`And every firstling of an ass thou dost ransom with a lamb, and if thou dost not ransom, then thou hast beheaded it: and every first-born of man among thy sons thou dost ransom.

14 Q uando in avvenire tuo figlio ti interrogherà dicendo: "Che significa questo?", gli risponderai: "L'Eterno ci fece uscire dall'Egitto, dalla casa di schiavitú, con mano potente;

`And it hath been, when thy son asketh thee hereafter, saying, What this? that thou hast said unto him, By strength of hand hath Jehovah brought us out from Egypt, from a house of servants;

15 e avvenne che, quando il Faraone si ostinò a non lasciarci andare, l'Eterno uccise tutti i primogeniti ne paese d'Egitto tanto i primogeniti degli uomini che i primogeniti degli animali. Per questo io sacrifico all'Eterno tutti i maschi che aprono il grembo, ma riscatto ogni primogenito dei miei figli".

yea, it cometh to pass, when Pharaoh hath been pained to send us away, that Jehovah doth slay every first-born in the land of Egypt, from the first-born of man even unto the first-born of beast; therefore I am sacrificing to Jehovah all opening a womb who males, and every first-born of my sons I ransom;

16 C iò sarà come un segno sulla tua mano e come un frontale fra i tuoi occhi, poiché l'Eterno ci ha fatto uscire dall'Egitto con mano potente».

and it hath been for a token on thy hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes, for by strength of hand hath Jehovah brought us out of Egypt.'

17 Q uando il Faraone lasciò andare il popolo DIO non lo condusse per la via del paese dei Filistei, benché fosse la più breve poiché DIO disse: «Perché il popolo non si penta quando vedrà la guerra e non ritorni in Egitto».

And it cometh to pass in Pharaoh's sending the people away, that God hath not led them the way of the land of the Philistines, for it near; for God said, `Lest the people repent in their seeing war, and have turned back towards Egypt;'

18 M a DIO fece fare al popolo un giro, per la via del deserto, verso il Mar Rosso. E i figli d'Israele salirono armati dal paese d'Egitto.

and God turneth round the people the way of the wilderness of the Red Sea, and by fifties have the sons of Israel gone up from the land of Egypt.

19 M osè prese con sé le ossa di Giuseppe, perché questi aveva espressamente fatto giurare i figli d'Israele, dicendo: «Certamente DIO vi visterà; allora trasportate di qui le mie ossa con voi».

And Moses taketh the bones of Joseph with him, for he certainly caused the sons of Israel to swear, saying, `God doth certainly inspect you, and ye have brought up my bones from this with you.'

20 C osì essi partirono da Sukkoth e si accamparono a Etham, ai margini del deserto.

And they journey from Succoth, and encamp in Etham at the extremity of the wilderness,

21 E l'Eterno andava davanti a loro, di giorno in una colonna di nuvola per guidarli nella via, e di notte in una colonna di Fuoco per Far loro luce, affinché potessero camminare giorno e notte.

and Jehovah is going before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them in the way, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give light to them, to go by day and by night;

22 L a colona di nuvola non si ritirava mai davanti al popolo di giorno, né la colonna di fuoco di notte.

He removeth not the pillar of the cloud by day, and the pillar of the fire by night, before the people.
