1 N el decimo anno, il decimo mese, il dodicesimo giorno del mese, la parola dell'Eterno mi fu rivolta, dicendo:

In the tenth year, in the tenth, in the twelfth of the month, hath a word of Jehovah been unto me, saying,

2 « Figlio d'uomo, volgi la tua faccia contro il Faraone re d'Egitto e profetizza contro di lui e contro tutto l'Egitto,

`Son of man, set thy face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy concerning him, and concerning Egypt -- all of it.

3 P arla e di Cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Ecco, io sono contro di te, o Faraone, re d'Egitto, grande dragone, che giaci in mezzo ai tuoi fiumi, che hai detto: Il mio fiume è mio e l'ho fatto io stesso

Speak, and thou hast said: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt! The great dragon that is crouching in the midst of his floods, Who hath said, My flood my own, And I -- I have made it myself.

4 I o metterò uncini nelle tue mascelle e farò sí che i pesci dei tuoi fiumi si attacchino alle tue squame; ti farò quindi uscire di mezzo ai tuoi fiumi e tutti i pesci dei tuoi fiumi si attaccheranno alle tue squame.

And I have put hooks in thy jaws, And I have caused the fish of thy floods to cleave to thy scales, And I have caused thee to come up from the midst of thy floods, And every fish of thy floods to thy scales doth cleave.

5 T i getterò nel deserto, te e tutti i pesci dei tuoi fiumi, e cadrai in aperta campagna, non sarai né radunato né raccolto ti darò in pasto alle bestie della terra e agli uccelli del cielo.

And I have left thee in the wilderness, Thou and every fish of thy floods, On the face of the field thou dost fall, Thou art not gathered nor assembled, To the beast of the earth and to the fowl of the heavens I have given thee for food.

6 A llora tutti gli abitanti dell'Egitto riconosceranno che io sono l'Eterno, perché sono stati per la casa d'Israele un sostegno di canna.

And known have all inhabitants of Egypt That I Jehovah, Because of their being a staff of reed to the house of Israel.

7 Q uando ti hanno afferrato per la mano, ti sei rotto e hai lacerato loro tutta la spalla; quando si sono appoggiati su di te, ti sei spezzato e hai fatto loro vacillare tutti i lombi».

In their taking hold of thee by thy hand, -- thou art crushed, And hast rent to them all the shoulder, And in their leaning on thee thou art broken, And hast caused all their thighs to stand.

8 P erciò cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: «Ecco, io farò venire sopra di te la spada e distruggerò di mezzo a te uomini e bestie;

Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I am bringing in against thee a sword, And have cut off from thee man and beast.

9 c osí il paese d'Egitto diventerà una desolazione e un deserto, e riconosceranno che io sono l'Eterno, perché egli ha detto: Il fiume è mio e l'ho fatto io stesso

And the land of Egypt hath been for a desolation and a waste, And they have known that I Jehovah. Because he said: The flood mine, and I made.

10 P erciò ecco, io sono contro di te e contro il tuo fiume; ridurrò il paese d'Egitto in un completo deserto e desolazione da Migdol a Syeneh, fino ai confini con l'Etiopia,

Therefore, lo, I against thee, and against thy floods, And have given the land of Egypt for wastes, A waste, a desolation, from Migdol to Syene, And unto the border of Cush.

11 N on vi passerà alcun piede d'uomo né vi passerà alcun piede di bestia, e non sarà piú abitato per quarant'anni.

Not pass over into it doth a foot of man, Yea, the foot of beast doth not pass into it, Nor is it inhabited forty years.

12 R enderò il paese d'Egitto una desolazione in mezzo a paesi desolati, e le sue città saranno una desolazione per quarant'anni, in mezzo a città devastate; disperderò gli Egiziani fra le nazioni a e li disseminerò per vari paesi».

And I have made the land of Egypt a desolation, In the midst of desolate lands, And its cities, in the midst of waste cities, Are a desolation forty years, And I have scattered the Egyptians among nations, And I have dispersed them through lands.

13 T uttavia cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: «Al termine dei quarant'anni io radunerò gli Egiziani dai popoli in mezzo ai quali erano stati dispersi.

But thus said the Lord Jehovah: At the end of forty years I gather the Egyptians Out of the peoples whither they have been scattered,

14 R icondurrò a casa dalla cattività gli Egiziani e li farò ritornare nel paese di Pathros, nel loro paese nativo, e là saranno un umile regno.

And I have turned back the captivity of Egypt, And I have brought them back the land of Pathros, to the land of their birth, And they have been there a low kingdom.

15 S arà il piú umile dei regni e non si innalzerà piú sopra le nazioni, li ridurrò a pochi, perché non dominino piú sulle nazioni.

Of the kingdoms it is lowest, And it lifteth not up itself any more above the nations, And I have made them few, So as not to rule among nations.

16 E sso non sarà piú fonte di fiducia per la casa d'Israele, ma ricorderà loro la colpa di quando si rivolgevano a loro per aiuto. Allora riconosceranno che io sono il Signore, l'Eterno».

And it is no more to the house of Israel for a confidence, Bringing iniquity to remembrance, By their turning after them, And they have known that I the Lord Jehovah.'

17 N el ventisettesimo anno, il primo mese, il primo giorno del mese, avvenne che la parola dell'Eterno mi fu rivolta, dicendo:

And it cometh to pass, in the twenty and seventh year, in the first, in the first of the month, hath a word of Jehovah been unto me, saying:

18 « Figlio d'uomo, Nebukadnetsar, re di Babilonia, ha fatto fare al suo esercito un duro servizio contro Tiro ogni testa è divenuta calva e ogni spalla scorticata; ma né lui né il suo esercito hanno ricavato da Tiro alcun compenso per la fatica sostenuta contro di essa».

`Son of man, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, Hath caused his force to serve a great service against Tyre, Every head bald -- every shoulder peeled, And reward he had none, nor his force, out of Tyre, For the service that he served against it.

19 P erciò cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: «Ecco. io do a Nebukadnetsar, re di Babilonia, il paese d'Egitto; egli asporterà le sue ricchezze, ne porterà via le spoglie e lo saccheggerà; e questo sarà il compenso per il suo esercito.

Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah, Lo, I am giving to Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon the land of Egypt, And he hath taken away its store, And hath taken its spoil, and taken its prey, And it hath been a reward to his force.

20 P er la fatica da lui compiuta contro di essa io gli do il paese d'Egitto, perché hanno lavorato per me», dice il Signore, l'Eterno.

His wage for which he laboured I have given to him, The land of Egypt -- in that they wrought for Me, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

21 « In quel giorno io farò risorgere la potenza della casa d'Israele e aprirò la tua bocca in mezzo a loro. Allora essi riconosceranno che io sono l'Eterno».

In that day I cause to shoot up a horn to the house of Israel, And to thee I give an opening of the mouth in their midst, And they have known that I Jehovah!'
