1 « Non vi farete idoli, non vi erigerete immagini scolpite o alcuna stele e non collocherete nel vostro paese alcuna pietra ornata di figure, per prostrarvi davanti ad essa; poiché io sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO.

`Ye do not make to yourselves idols; and graven image or standing image ye do not set up to yourselves; and a stone of imagery ye do not put in your land, to bow yourselves to it; for I Jehovah your God.

2 O sserverete i miei sabati e porterete rispetto al mio santuario. Io sono l'Eterno.

`My sabbaths ye do keep, and My sanctuary ye do reverence; I Jehovah.

3 S e vi comportate secondo i miei statuti osservate i miei comandamenti, e li mettete in pratica,

`If in My statutes ye walk, and My commands ye keep, and have done them,

4 i o vi darò le piogge nella loro stagione la terra darà i suoi prodotti e gli alberi della campagna daranno i loro frutti.

then I have given your rains in their season, and the land hath given her produce, and the tree of the field doth give its fruit;

5 L a trebbiatura durerà fino alla vendemmia e la vendemmia durerà fino alla semina; mangerete a sazietà il vostro pane e abiterete al sicuro nel vostro paese.

and reached to you hath the threshing, the gathering, and the gathering doth reach the sowing-; and ye have eaten your bread to satiety, and have dwelt confidently in your land.

6 I o farò regnare la pace nel paese; vi coricherete e nessuno vi spaventerà; farò sparire dal paese le bestie cattive e la spada non passerà per il vostro paese.

`And I have given peace in the land, and ye have lain down, and there is none causing trembling; and I have caused evil beasts to cease out of the land, and the sword doth not pass over into your land.

7 V oi inseguirete i vostri nemici, ed essi cadranno davanti a voi trafitti dalla spada.

`And ye have pursued your enemies, and they have fallen before you by the sword;

8 C inque di voi ne inseguiranno cento, cento di voi ne inseguiranno diecimila, e i vostri nemici cadranno davanti a voi trafitti dalla spada.

and five of you have pursued a hundred, and a hundred of you do pursue a myriad; and your enemies have fallen before you by the sword.

9 I o mi volgerò verso di voi, vi renderò fecondi e vi moltiplicherò, e confermerò il mio patto con voi.

`And I have turned unto you, and have made you fruitful, and have multiplied you, and have established My covenant with you;

10 V oi mangerete del vecchio raccolto, conservato a lungo e sgombrerete il vecchio per far posto al nuovo.

and ye have eaten old, and the old because of the new ye bring out.

11 l o stabilirò la mia dimora in mezzo a voi e non vi rigetterò.

`And I have given My tabernacle in your midst, and My soul doth not loathe you;

12 C amminerò tra di voi e sarò il vostro DIO, e voi sarete il mio popolo.

and I have walked habitually in your midst, and have become your God, and ye -- ye are become My people;

13 l o sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO, che vi ho fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto, perché non foste più loro schiavi; ho spezzato il vostro giogo e vi ho fatto camminare la testa alta.

I Jehovah your God, who have brought you out of the land of the Egyptians, from being their servants; and I break the bars of your yoke, and cause you to go erect.

14 M a se non mi date ascolto e se non mettete in pratica tutti questi comandamenti,

`And if ye do not hearken to Me, and do not all these commands;

15 S e disprezzate i miei statuti e l'anima vostra rigetta i miei decreti, non mettendo in pratica tutti i miei comandamenti e rompendo il mio patto,

and if at My statutes ye kick, and if My judgments your soul loathe, so as not to do all My commands -- to your breaking My covenant --

16 a mia volta, farò questo a voi: manderò contro di voi il terrore, la consunzione e la febbre, che vi consumerà gli occhi e farà languire la vostra vita; e seminerete invano la vostra semente, perché la mangeranno i vostri nemici.

I also do this to you, and I have appointed over you trouble, the consumption, and the burning fever, consuming eyes, and causing pain of soul; and your seed in vain ye have sowed, and your enemies have eaten it;

17 V olgerò la mia faccia contro di voi e voi sarete sconfitti dai vostri nemici; quei che vi odiano vi domineranno, e vi darete alla fuga senza che alcuno vi insegua.

and I have set My face against you, and ye have been smitten before your enemies; and those hating you have ruled over you, and ye have fled, and there is none pursuing you.

18 E se neppure dopo questo mi darete ascolto, io vi castigherò sette volte di più per i vostri peccati.

`And if unto these ye hearken not to Me, -- then I have added to chastise you seven times for your sins;

19 S pezzerò l'orgoglio della vostra forza, renderò il vostro cielo come ferro e la vostra terra come rame.

and I have broken the pride of your strength, and have made your heavens as iron, and your earth as brass;

20 L a vostra forza si consumerà invano, perché la vostra terra non darà più i suoi prodotti, e gli alberi della campagna non daranno più i loro frutti.

and consumed hath been your strength in vain, and your land doth not give her produce, and the tree of the land doth not give its fruit.

21 E se vi comportate come miei nemici e non volete darmi ascolto io vi colpirò sette volte di più con piaghe secondo i vostri peccati.

`And if ye walk with Me opposition, and are not willing to hearken to Me, then I have added to you a plague seven times, according to your sins,

22 M anderò contro di voi le fiere della campagna, che rapiranno i vostri figli, stermineranno il vostro bestiame, vi ridurranno a pochi e renderanno le vostre strade deserte.

and sent against you the beast of the field, and it hath bereaved you; and I have cut off your cattle, and have made you few, and your ways have been desolate.

23 E se nonostante queste cose non vi correggete per tornare a me, ma con la vostra condotta

`And if by these ye are not instructed by Me, and have walked with Me opposition,

24 v i comportate come miei nemici, anch'io diventerò nemico vostro, e vi colpirò sette volte di più per i vostri peccati.

then I have walked -- I also -- with you in opposition, and have smitten you, even I, seven times for your sins;

25 E farò venire contro di voi la spada che eseguirà la vendetta del mio patto; voi vi raccoglierete nelle vostre città, ma io manderò in mezzo a voi la peste e sarete dati in mano al nemico.

and I have brought in on you a sword, executing the vengeance of a covenant; and ye have been gathered unto your cities, and I have sent pestilence into your midst, and ye have been given into the hand of an enemy.

26 Q uando vi toglierò il sostentamento del pane, dieci donne cuoceranno il vostro pane in uno stesso forno e razioneranno il vostro pane, distribuendolo a peso; voi mangerete, ma non vi sazierete.

`In My breaking to you the staff of bread, then ten women have baked your bread in one oven, and have given back your bread by weight; and ye have eaten, and are not satisfied.

27 E se nonostante tutto questo non mi darete ascolto, ma vi comporterete da miei nemici,

`And if for this ye hearken not to Me, and have walked with Me in opposition,

28 a nch'io diventerò vostro nemico pieno d'ira e vi castigherò sette volte di più per i vostri peccati.

then I have walked with you in the fury of opposition, and have chastised you, even I, seven times for your sins.

29 M angerete la carne dei vostri figli e mangerete la carne delle vostre figlie.

`And ye have eaten the flesh of your sons; even flesh of your daughters ye do eat.

30 I o distruggerò i vostri alti luoghi, abbatterò i vostri idoli e getterò i vostri cadaveri sulle sagome senza vita dei vostri idoli; e vi detesterò.

And I have destroyed your high places, and cut down your images, and have put your carcases on the carcases of your idols, and My soul hath loathed you;

31 R idurrò le vostre città in deserti, devasterò i vostri luoghi sacri e non aspirerò più l'odore soave dei vostri profumi.

and I have made your cities a waste, and have made desolate your sanctuaries, and I smell not at your sweet fragrances;

32 D evasterò il paese; e i vostri nemici che vi abiteranno rimarranno sbalorditi.

and I have made desolate the land, and your enemies, who are dwelling in it, have been astonished at it.

33 D isperderò voi fra le nazioni e trarrò fuori la spada contro di voi; il vostro paese sarà desolato e le vostre città saranno deserte.

And you I scatter among nations, and have drawn out after you a sword, and your land hath been a desolation, and your cities are a waste.

34 A llora la terra godrà i suoi sabati per tutto il tempo in cui rimarrà desolata e voi sarete nel paese dei vostri nemici; così la terra si riposerà e godrà i suoi sabati.

`Then doth the land enjoy its sabbaths -- all the days of the desolation, and ye in the land of your enemies -- then doth the land rest, and hath enjoyed its sabbaths;

35 P er tutto il tempo che rimarrà desolata avrà il riposo che non ebbe nei vostri sabati, quando voi l'abitavate.

all the days of the desolation it resteth that which it hath not rested in your sabbaths in your dwelling on it.

36 A quelli di voi che scamperanno infonderò nel cuore sgomento nel paese dei loro nemici: il fruscìo di una foglia agitata li metterà in fuga; fuggiranno come si fugge davanti alla spada e cadranno senza che alcuno li insegua.

`And those who are left of you -- I have also brought a faintness into their heart in the lands of their enemies, and the sound of a leaf driven away hath pursued them, and they have fled -- flight from a sword -- and they have fallen, and there is none pursuing.

37 I nciamperanno l'uno nell'altro, come davanti alla spada, senza che alcuno li insegua; e non potrete resistere davanti ai vostri nemici.

And they have stumbled one on another, as from the face of a sword, and there is none pursuing, and ye have no standing before your enemies,

38 P erirete fra le nazioni e il paese dei vostri nemici vi divorerà.

and ye have perished among the nations, and the land of your enemies hath consumed you.

39 I superstiti tra di voi si struggeranno a motivo della loro iniquità nel paese dei loro nemici; e si struggeranno pure a motivo delle iniquità dei loro padri.

`And those who are left of you -- they consume away in their iniquity, in the lands of your enemies; and also in the iniquities of their fathers, with them they consume away.

40 M a se confesseranno la loro iniquità e l'iniquità dei loro padri, nelle trasgressioni che commisero contro di me e anche per essersi comportati come miei nemici,

`And -- they have confessed their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, in their trespass which they have trespassed against Me, and also, that they have walked with Me, in opposition,

41 d a indurmi ad essere loro nemico e a portarli nel paese dei loro nemici; se il loro cuore incirconciso si umilierà e accetteranno la punizione della loro iniquità,

also I walk to them in opposition, and have brought them into the land of their enemies -- or then their uncircumcised heart is humbled, and then they accept the punishment of their iniquity, --

42 a llora io mi ricorderò del mio patto con Giacobbe, mi ricorderò del mio patto con Isacco e del mio patto con Abrahamo e mi ricorderò del paese;

then I have remembered My covenant Jacob, and also My covenant Isaac, and also My covenant Abraham I remember, and the land I remember.

43 P oiché il paese sarà abbandonato da loro e godrà i suoi sabati, mentre rimarrà desolato senza di loro; così essi accetteranno la punizione della loro iniquità per aver disprezzato i miei decreti e aver avuto in avversione i miei statuti.

`And -- the land is left of them, and doth enjoy its sabbaths, in the desolation without them, and they accept the punishment of their iniquity, because, even because, against My judgments they have kicked, and My statutes hath their soul loathed,

44 N onostante tutto questo, quando saranno nel paese dei loro nemici, io non li disprezzerò e non li detesterò fino al punto di annientarli del tutto e di rompere il mio patto con loro; poiché io sono l'Eterno, il loro DIO;

and also even this, in their being in the land of their enemies, I have not rejected them, nor have I loathed them, to consume them, to break My covenant with them; for I Jehovah their God; --

45 m a per loro amore mi ricorderò del patto stabilito con i loro antenati, che feci uscire dal paese d'Egitto sotto gli occhi delle nazioni, per essere il loro DIO. Io sono l'Eterno».

then I have remembered for them the covenant of the ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt before the eyes of the nations to become their God; I Jehovah.'

46 T ali sono gli statuti, i decreti e le leggi che l'Eterno stabilì fra sé e i figli d'Israele, sul monte Sinai, per mezzo di Mosè.

These the statutes, and the judgments, and the laws, which Jehovah hath given between Him and the sons of Israel, in mount Sinai, by the hand of Moses.
