1 M anasse aveva dodici anni quando iniziò a regnare, e regnò cinquantacinque anni a Gerusalemme. Sua madre si chiamava Heftsibah.

A son of twelve years Manasseh in his reigning, and fifty and five years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother Hephzi-Bah;

2 E gli fece ciò che è male agli occhi dell'Eterno, secondo le abominazioni delle nazioni che l'Eterno aveva scacciato davanti ai figli d'Israele.

and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, according to the abominations of the nations that Jehovah dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel,

3 E gli ricostruí gli alti luoghi che Ezechia suo padre aveva distrutto, eresse altari a Baal, fece un'Ascerah come aveva fatto Achab, re d'Israele; e adorò tutto l'esercito del cielo e lo serví.

and he turneth and buildeth the high places that Hezekiah his father destroyed, and raiseth altars for Baal, and maketh a shrine, as did Ahab king of Israel, and boweth himself to all the host of the heavens, and serveth them.

4 I noltre eresse altari nella casa dell'Eterno, riguardo alla quale l'Eterno aveva detto: «In Gerusalemme porrò il mio nome».

And he hath built altars in the house of Jehovah, of which Jehovah said, `In Jerusalem I put My name.'

5 E resse altari a tutto l'esercito del cielo nei due cortili della casa dell'Eterno.

And he buildeth altars to all the host of the heavens in the two courts of the house of Jehovah;

6 F ece anche passare per il fuoco a suo figlio, praticò la magia e la divinazione e consultò i medium e i maghi. Si diede completamente a fare ciò che è male agli occhi dell'Eterno, provocandolo ad ira.

and he hath caused his son to pass through fire, and observed clouds, and used enchantment, and dealt with a familiar spirit and wizards; he hath multiplied to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah -- to provoke to anger.

7 M ise addirittura un'immagine scolpita di Ascerah, che aveva fatto, nel tempio, di cui l'Eterno aveva detto a Davide e a Salomone suo figlio: «In questo tempio e a Gerusalemme, che ho scelto fra tutte le tribú d'Israele, porrò il mio nome per sempre;

And he setteth the graven image of the shrine that he made in the house of which Jehovah said unto David and unto Solomon his son, `In this house, and in Jerusalem, that I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I put My name -- to the age;

8 e non farò piú errare il piede d'Israele lontano dal paese che ho dato ai loro padri, purché essi abbiano cura di mettere in pratica tutto ciò che ho loro comandato e tutta la legge che il mio servo Mosè ha loro prescritto».

and I do not add to cause the foot of Israel to move from the ground that I gave to their fathers, only, if they observe to do according to all that I commanded them, and to all the law that My servant Moses commanded them.'

9 M a essi non ascoltarono, e Manasse li indusse a fare peggio delle nazioni che l'Eterno aveva distrutto davanti ai figli d'Israele.

And they have not hearkened, and Manasseh causeth them to err, to do the evil thing above the nations that Jehovah destroyed from the presence of the sons of Israel.

10 A llora l'Eterno parlò per mezzo dei suoi servi, i profeti, dicendo:

And Jehovah speaketh by the hand of his servants the prophets, saying,

11 « Poiché Manasse, re di Giuda, ha commesso queste abominazioni (ha fatto maggior male di tutto quello fatto dagli Amorei, che furono prima di lui, e mediante i suoi idoli ha pure fatto peccare Giuda),

`Because that Manasseh king of Judah hath done these abominations -- he hath done evil above all that the Amorites have done who before him, and causeth also Judah to sin by his idols;

12 c osí dice l'Eterno, il DIO d'Israele: "Ecco, io faccio venire su Gerusalemme e su Giuda una tale sciagura, che chiunque ne sentirà parlare ne avrà entrambe le orecchie rintronate.

therefore thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Lo, I am bringing in evil on Jerusalem and Judah, that whoever heareth of it, tingle do his two ears.

13 S tenderò su Gerusalemme la cordicella di misurazione di Samaria e il piombino della casa di Achab, e ripulirò Gerusalemme come si ripulisce un piatto che, una volta ripulito, lo si capovolge.

And I have stretched out over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab, and wiped Jerusalem as one wipeth the dish -- he hath wiped, and hath turned on its face.

14 C osí abbandonerò il residuo della mia eredità e li darò nelle mani dei loro nemici, ed essi diventeranno preda e bottino di tutti i loro nemici,

`And I have left the remnant of Mine inheritance, and given them into the hand of their enemies, and they have been for a prey and for a spoil to all their enemies,

15 p erché hanno fatto ciò che è male ai miei occhi e mi hanno provocato ad ira dal giorno che i loro padri uscirono dall'Egitto fino ad oggi"».

because that they have done the evil thing in Mine eyes, and are provoking Me to anger from the day that their fathers came out of Egypt, even unto this day.'

16 M anasse versò pure moltissimo sangue innocente, fino a riempire Gerusalemme da una estremità all'altra, oltre al suo peccato di far peccare Giuda, facendo ciò che è male agli occhi dell'Eterno.

And also, innocent blood hath Manasseh shed very much, till that he hath filled Jerusalem -- mouth to mouth; apart from his sin that he hath caused Judah to sin, to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah.

17 I l resto delle gesta di Manasse, tutto ciò che fece e i peccati che commise, non è scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda?

And the rest of the matters of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he sinned, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?

18 C osí Manasse si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto nel giardino del suo palazzo, nel giardino di Uzza. Al suo posto regnò suo figlio Amon.

And Manasseh lieth with his fathers, and is buried in the garden of his house, in the garden of Uzza, and reign doth Amon his son in his stead.

19 A mon aveva ventidue anni quando iniziò a regnare, e regnò due anni a Gerusalemme. Sua madre si chiamava Meshullemeth, figlia di Haruts di Jotbah.

A son of twenty and two years Amon in his reigning, and two years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother Meshullemeth daughter of Haruz of Jotbah,

20 E gli fece ciò che è male agli occhi dell'Eterno, come aveva fatto suo padre Manasse.

and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, as did Manasseh his father,

21 S eguí interamente la via seguita da suo padre, serví gli idoli che aveva servito suo padre e li adorò.

and walketh in all the way that his father walked in, and serveth the idols that his father served, and boweth himself to them,

22 A bbandonò l'Eterno, il DIO dei suoi padri, e non camminò nella via dell'Eterno.

and forsaketh Jehovah, God of his fathers, and hath not walked in the way of Jehovah.

23 O ra i servi di Amon ordirono una congiura contro di lui e uccisero il re nel suo palazzo.

And the servants of Amon conspire against him, and put the king to death in his own house,

24 M a il popolo del paese mise a morte tutti quelli che avevano congiurato contro il re Amon e, al suo posto, fece re suo figlio Giosia.

and the people of the land smite all those conspiring against king Amon, and the people of the land cause Josiah his son to reign in his stead.

25 I l resto delle gesta compiute da Amon non è scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda?

And the rest of the matters of Amon that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?

26 E gli fu sepolto nel suo sepolcro, nel giardino di Uzza. Al suo posto regnò suo figlio Giosia.

and burieth him in his burying-place in the garden of Uzza, and reign doth Josiah his son in his stead.
