1 O r c'era un uomo nella regione montuosa di Efraim, che si chiamava Mikah.

And there is a man of the hill-country of Ephraim, and his name Micah,

2 E gli disse a sua madre: «I millecento sicli d'argento che ti sono stati presi e riguardo ai quali hai pronunziato una maledizione, che ho udito con le mie stesse orecchie, ecco, li ho io; quel denaro l'avevo preso io». Sua madre disse: «Benedetto sia mio figlio dall'Eterno!».

and he saith to his mother, `The eleven hundred silverlings which have been taken of thine, and thou hast sworn, and also spoken in mine ears; lo, the silver with me, I have taken it;' and his mother saith, `Blessed my son of Jehovah.'

3 C osì egli restituirà a sua madre i millecento sicli d'argento, e sua madre disse: «lo consacro interamente di mano mia quest'argento all'Eterno per mio figlio, per fame un'immagine scolpita e un'immagine di getto; perciò ora te lo rendo».

And he giveth back the eleven hundred silverlings to his mother, and his mother saith, `I had certainly sanctified the silver to Jehovah, from my hand, for my son, to make a graven image, and a molten image; and now, I give it back to thee.'

4 D opo che egli ebbe restituito l'argento a sua madre, sua madre prese duecento sicli d'argento e li diede al fonditore, il quale ne fece un'immagine scolpita e un'immagine di metallo fuso; ed esse furono poste nella casa di Mikah.

And he giveth back the money to his mother, and his mother taketh two hundred silverlings, and giveth them to a refiner, and he maketh them a graven image, and a molten image, and it is in the house of Micah.

5 C osì quest'uomo, Mikah, ebbe una casa di dèi; fece un efod e una casa di idoli e consacrò uno dei suoi figli che gli fece da sacerdote.

As to the man Micah, he hath a house of gods, and he maketh an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrateth the hand of one of his sons, and he is to him for a priest;

6 I n quel tempo non c'era re in Israele; ognuno faceva ciò che sembrava giusto ai suoi occhi.

in those days there is no king in Israel, each that which is right in his own eyes doth.

7 O r c'era un giovane di Betlemme di Giuda, della famiglia di Giuda il quale era un Levita e risiedeva in quel luogo come forestiero.

And there is a young man of Beth-Lehem-Judah, of the family of Judah, and he a Levite, and he a sojourner there.

8 Q uest'uomo partì dalla città di Betlemme di Giuda, per stabilirsi ovunque potesse trovare un posto; cammin facendo giunse nella regione montuosa di Efraim, alla casa di Mikah.

And the man goeth out of the city, out of Beth-Lehem-Judah, to sojourn where he doth find, and cometh to the hill-country of Ephraim, unto the house of Micah, to work his way.

9 M ikah gli chiese: «Da dove vieni?». Quello gli rispose: «Sono un Levita di Betlemme di Giuda e sto cercando un luogo dove possa stabilirmi».

And Micah saith to him, `Whence comest thou?' and he saith unto him, `A Levite I, of Beth-Lehem-Judah, and I am going to sojourn where I do find.'

10 M ikah gli disse: «Rimani con me, e sii per me padre e sacerdote; ti darò dieci sicli d'argento all'anno, un corredo di vestiti e il vitto». Allora il Levita entrò.

And Micah saith to him, `Dwell with me, and be to me for a father and for a priest, and I give to thee ten silverlings for the days, and a suit of garments, and thy sustenance;' and the Levite goeth.

11 C osì il Levita acconsentì a stare con quell'uomo, che trattò il giovane come uno dei suoi figli.

And the Levite is willing to dwell with the man, and the young man is to him as one of his sons.

12 M ikah consacrò il Levita; il giovane gli fece da sacerdote e si stabilì in casa di Mikah.

And Micah consecrateth the hand of the Levite, and the young man is to him for a priest, and he is in the house of Micah,

13 P oi Mikah disse: «Ora so che l'Eterno mi farà del bene, perché ho un Levita che mi fa da sacerdote».

and Micah saith, `Now I have known that Jehovah doth good to me, for the Levite hath been to me for a priest.'
