1 L 'Eterno parlò ancora a Mosè, dicendo:

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

2 « Parla a tutta l'assemblea dei figli d'Israele e di' loro: Siate santi, perché io, l'Eterno, il vostro DIO, sono santo.

`Speak unto all the company of the sons of Israel, and thou hast said unto them, Ye are holy, for holy I, Jehovah, your God.

3 O gnuno di voi rispetti sua madre e suo padre e osservate i miei sabati. Io sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO.

`Each his mother and his father ye do fear, and My sabbaths ye do keep; I Jehovah your God.

4 N on rivolgetevi a idoli e non fatevi degli dèi di metallo fuso. Io sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO.

`Ye do not turn unto the idols, and a molten god ye do not make to yourselves; I Jehovah your God.

5 Q uando offrite un sacrificio di ringraziamento all'Eterno, l'offrirete in modo da essere graditi.

`And when ye sacrifice a sacrifice of peace-offerings to Jehovah, at your pleasure ye do sacrifice it;

6 L o si mangerà il giorno stesso che lo offrite e il giorno seguente; e se rimane qualcosa fino al terzo giorno, lo brucerete col fuoco.

in the day of your sacrificing it is eaten, and on the morrow, and that which is left unto the third day with fire is burnt,

7 S e si mangia alcuna parte di esso il terzo giorno è cosa abominevole; il sacrificio non sarà gradito.

and if it be really eaten on the third day, it an abomination, it is not pleasing,

8 C hiunque perciò ne mangia porterà la pena della sua iniquità, perché ha profanato ciò che è sacro all'Eterno; quel tale sarà sterminato di mezzo al suo popolo.

and he who is eating it his iniquity doth bear, for the holy thing of Jehovah he hath polluted, and that person hath been cut off from his people.

9 Q uando mieterete la messe della vostra terra, non mieterai fino ai margini del tuo campo e non raccoglierai le spighe lasciate indietro del tuo raccolto;

`And in your reaping the harvest of your land ye do not completely reap the corner of thy field, and the gleaning of thy harvest thou dost not gather,

10 e nella tua vigna non vi ripasserai, né raccoglierai i grappoli rimasti indietro della tua vigna; li lascerai per il povero e per il forestiero. Io sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO.

and thy vineyard thou dost not glean, even the omitted part of thy vineyard thou dost not gather, to the poor and to the sojourner thou dost leave them; I Jehovah your God.

11 N on ruberete, non mentirete e non ingannerete l'un l'altro.

`Ye do not steal, nor feign, nor lie one against his fellow.

12 N on giurerete il falso nel mio nome, né profanerai il nome del tuo DIO. Io sono l'Eterno.

`And ye do not swear by My name to falsehood, or thou hast polluted the name of thy God; I Jehovah.

13 N on opprimerai il tuo prossimo e non lo deruberai; il salario dell'operaio non rimanga presso di te fino al mattino seguente.

`Thou dost not oppress thy neighbour, nor take plunder; the wages of the hireling doth not remain with thee till morning.

14 N on maledirai il sordo e non metterai alcun inciampo davanti al cieco, ma temerai il tuo DIO. Io sono l'Eterno.

`Thou dost not revile the deaf; and before the blind thou dost not put a stumbling block; and thou hast been afraid of thy God; I Jehovah.

15 N on farete ingiustizia nel giudicare; non userai parzialità col povero né presterai onore alla persona del potente; ma giudicherai il tuo prossimo con giustizia.

`Ye do not do perversity in judgment; thou dost not lift up the face of the poor, nor honour the face of the great; in righteousness thou dost judge thy fellow.

16 N on andrai in giro calunniando fra il tuo popolo, né prenderai posizione contro la vita del tuo prossimo. Io sono l'Eterno.

`Thou dost not go slandering among thy people; thou dost not stand against the blood of thy neighbour; I Jehovah.

17 N on odierai il tuo fratello nel tuo cuore; riprendi pure il tuo prossimo, ma non tirarti addosso alcun peccato per causa sua.

`Thou dost not hate thy brother in thy heart; thou dost certainly reprove thy fellow, and not suffer sin on him.

18 N on farai vendetta e non serberai rancore contro i figli del tuo popolo, ma amerai il tuo prossimo come te stesso. Io sono l'Eterno.

`Thou dost not take vengeance, nor watch the sons of thy people; and thou hast had love to thy neighbour as thyself; I Jehovah.

19 O sserverete i miei statuti. Non accoppierai bestie di specie diverse; non seminerai il tuo campo con tipi diversi di seme, né indosserai alcun vestito tessuto con materiali diversi.

`My statutes ye do keep: thy cattle thou dost not cause to gender diverse kinds; thy field thou dost not sow with diverse kinds, and a garment of diverse kinds, shaatnez, doth not go up upon thee.

20 S e uno ha relazioni carnali con una donna che sia schiava promessa a un uomo, ma che non è stata riscattata e non ha ricevuto la libertà, saranno ambedue puniti, ma non saranno messi a morte, perché ella non era libera.

`And when a man lieth with a woman with seed of copulation, and she a maid-servant, betrothed to a man, and not really ransomed, or freedom hath not been given to her, an investigation there is; they are not put to death, for she not free.

21 L 'uomo porterà all'Eterno, all'ingresso della tenda di convegno, come sacrificio per la trasgressione, un montone;

`And he hath brought in his guilt-offering to Jehovah, unto the opening of the tent of meeting, a ram a guilt-offering,

22 c ol montone del sacrificio per la trasgressione il sacerdote farà per lui l'espiazione davanti all'Eterno per il peccato che egli ha commesso; e il peccato che ha commesso gli sarà perdonato.

and the priest hath made atonement for him with the ram of the guilt-offering before Jehovah, for his sin which he hath sinned, and it hath been forgiven him because of his sin which he hath sinned.

23 Q uando sarete entrati nel paese e avrete piantato ogni sorta di alberi da frutto, considererete i loro frutti come non circoncisi; per tre anni saranno per voi come non circoncisi; no si dovranno mangiare.

`And when ye come in unto the land, and have planted all of trees food, then ye have reckoned as uncircumcised its fruit, three years it is to you uncircumcised, it is not eaten,

24 M a il quarto anno tutti i loro frutti saranno santificati; saranno per la lode dell'Eterno.

and in the fourth year all its fruit is holy -- praises for Jehovah.

25 I l quinto anno mangerete i loro frutti, affinché il loro prodotto possa crescere. Io sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO.

And in the fifth year ye do eat its fruit -- to add to you its increase; I Jehovah your God.

26 N on mangerete nulla che contenga sangue. Non praticherete alcun genere di divinazione o di magia.

`Ye do not eat with the blood; ye do not enchant, nor observe clouds.

27 N on taglierete in tondo i capelli ai lati del capo, né spunterai gli orli della tua barba.

`Ye do not round the corner of your head, nor destroy the corner of thy beard.

28 N on farete incisioni nella vostra carne per un morto, né farete alcun tatuaggio su di voi. Io sono l'Eterno.

`And a cutting for the soul ye do not put in your flesh; and a writing, a cross-mark, ye do not put on you; I Jehovah.

29 N on contaminare la tua figlia, facendola divenire una prostituta, affinché il paese non si dia alla prostituzione e il paese non si riempia di scelleratezze.

`Thou dost not pollute thy daughter to cause her to go a-whoring, that the land go not a-whoring, and the land hath been full of wickedness.

30 O sserverete i miei sabati e porterete rispetto al mio santuario. Io sono l'Eterno.

`My sabbaths ye do keep, and My sanctuary ye do reverence; I Jehovah.

31 N on rivolgetevi ai medium e ai maghi; non consultateli, per non contaminarvi per mezzo loro. Io sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO.

`Ye do not turn unto those having familiar spirits; and unto wizards ye do not seek, for uncleanness by them; I Jehovah your God.

32 A lzati davanti al capo canuto, onora la persona del vecchio e temi il tuo DIO. Io sono l'Eterno.

`At the presence of grey hairs thou dost rise up, and thou hast honoured the presence of an old man, and hast been afraid of thy God; I Jehovah.

33 Q uando uno straniero risiede con voi nel vostro paese, non lo maltratterete.

`And when a sojourner sojourneth with thee in your land, thou dost not oppress him;

34 L o straniero che risiede fra voi, lo tratterete come colui che è nato fra voi; tu l'amerai come te stesso, poiché anche voi foste stranieri nel paese d'Egitto. Io sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO.

as a native among you is the sojourner to you who is sojourning with you, and thou hast had love to him as to thyself, for sojourners ye have been in the land of Egypt; I Jehovah your God.

35 N on farete ingiustizia nei giudizi con le misure di lunghezza, di peso e di capacità.

`Ye do not do perversity in judgment, in mete-yard, in weight, or in liquid measure;

36 A vrete bilance giuste, pesi giusti, efa giusto, hin giusto. Io sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO, che vi ho fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto.

righteous balances, righteous weights, a righteous ephah, and a righteous hin ye have; I Jehovah your God, who hath brought you out from the land of Egypt;

37 O sserverete dunque tutti i miei statuti e tutti i miei decreti e li metterete in pratica. Io sono l'Eterno».

and ye have observed all my statutes, and all my judgments, and have done them; I Jehovah.'
