1 T he Lord said to Moses,

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

2 Say to all the people of Israel, ‘Be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.

`Speak unto all the company of the sons of Israel, and thou hast said unto them, Ye are holy, for holy I, Jehovah, your God.

3 E very one of you must have respect for his mother and his father. And keep My Days of Rest. I am the Lord your God.

`Each his mother and his father ye do fear, and My sabbaths ye do keep; I Jehovah your God.

4 D o not turn to false gods or make gods for yourselves. I am the Lord your God.

`Ye do not turn unto the idols, and a molten god ye do not make to yourselves; I Jehovah your God.

5 When you give the Lord a peace gift, give it so you will be pleasing Him.

`And when ye sacrifice a sacrifice of peace-offerings to Jehovah, at your pleasure ye do sacrifice it;

6 I t will be eaten the same day you give it, and the next day. But what is left until the third day will be burned with fire.

in the day of your sacrificing it is eaten, and on the morrow, and that which is left unto the third day with fire is burnt,

7 I f it is eaten at all on the third day, it is a sin. It will not be received.

and if it be really eaten on the third day, it an abomination, it is not pleasing,

8 E very one who eats it will carry his guilt. For he has made the holy thing of the Lord sinful. That person will not be among God’s people.

and he who is eating it his iniquity doth bear, for the holy thing of Jehovah he hath polluted, and that person hath been cut off from his people.

9 When you pick the food of your land at gathering time, do not pick all the way to the corners of your field. And do not gather the food left on the ground there after you have picked.

`And in your reaping the harvest of your land ye do not completely reap the corner of thy field, and the gleaning of thy harvest thou dost not gather,

10 D o not gather what is left among your vines, or gather the grapes that have fallen. Leave them for those in need and for the stranger. I am the Lord your God.

and thy vineyard thou dost not glean, even the omitted part of thy vineyard thou dost not gather, to the poor and to the sojourner thou dost leave them; I Jehovah your God.

11 Do not steal. Be honest in what you do. Do not lie to one another.

`Ye do not steal, nor feign, nor lie one against his fellow.

12 D o not lie when you make a promise in My name, and so put the name of your God to shame. I am the Lord.

`And ye do not swear by My name to falsehood, or thou hast polluted the name of thy God; I Jehovah.

13 Do not make it hard for your neighbor or rob him. You should not keep the pay of a man who works for you until the next morning.

`Thou dost not oppress thy neighbour, nor take plunder; the wages of the hireling doth not remain with thee till morning.

14 D o not say bad things against a man who cannot hear. Do not put something in the way of a man who cannot see. But fear your God. I am the Lord.

`Thou dost not revile the deaf; and before the blind thou dost not put a stumbling block; and thou hast been afraid of thy God; I Jehovah.

15 Be fair in how you judge. Do not show favor to the poor or to the great. Be fair in how you judge your neighbor.

`Ye do not do perversity in judgment; thou dost not lift up the face of the poor, nor honour the face of the great; in righteousness thou dost judge thy fellow.

16 D o not go around saying things that hurt your people. Do not do things against the life of your neighbor. I am the Lord.

`Thou dost not go slandering among thy people; thou dost not stand against the blood of thy neighbour; I Jehovah.

17 In your heart do not hate someone from your own country. You may speak sharp words to your neighbor, but do not sin because of him.

`Thou dost not hate thy brother in thy heart; thou dost certainly reprove thy fellow, and not suffer sin on him.

18 D o not hurt someone who has hurt you. Do not keep on hating the sons of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.

`Thou dost not take vengeance, nor watch the sons of thy people; and thou hast had love to thy neighbour as thyself; I Jehovah.

19 Keep My Laws. Do not let your cattle have young by a different kind. Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. Do not wear clothing made of two kinds of cloth.

`My statutes ye do keep: thy cattle thou dost not cause to gender diverse kinds; thy field thou dost not sow with diverse kinds, and a garment of diverse kinds, shaatnez, doth not go up upon thee.

20 I f a man lies with a woman who is a servant, promised to another man, but has not been paid for or made free, they must be punished. But they will not be put to death, because she was not free.

`And when a man lieth with a woman with seed of copulation, and she a maid-servant, betrothed to a man, and not really ransomed, or freedom hath not been given to her, an investigation there is; they are not put to death, for she not free.

21 H e will bring his guilt gift to the Lord at the door of the meeting tent. A ram will be used for the guilt gift before the Lord.

`And he hath brought in his guilt-offering to Jehovah, unto the opening of the tent of meeting, a ram a guilt-offering,

22 W ith it the religious leader will go through the worship of washing to take away the man’s sin, and he will be forgiven for the sin he has done.

and the priest hath made atonement for him with the ram of the guilt-offering before Jehovah, for his sin which he hath sinned, and it hath been forgiven him because of his sin which he hath sinned.

23 When you come into the land and plant all kinds of trees for food, think of their fruit as being something you should not touch. You should not touch it for three years. It must not be eaten.

`And when ye come in unto the land, and have planted all of trees food, then ye have reckoned as uncircumcised its fruit, three years it is to you uncircumcised, it is not eaten,

24 B ut in the fourth year all their fruit will be holy, a gift of praise to the Lord.

and in the fourth year all its fruit is holy -- praises for Jehovah.

25 I n the fifth year you may eat of their fruit, so they may give more food for you. I am the Lord your God.

And in the fifth year ye do eat its fruit -- to add to you its increase; I Jehovah your God.

26 Do not eat anything with the blood in it. Do not tell the future or do witchcraft.

`Ye do not eat with the blood; ye do not enchant, nor observe clouds.

27 D o not cut the hair on the side of your head or face.

`Ye do not round the corner of your head, nor destroy the corner of thy beard.

28 D o not make any cuts on your body for the dead. Do not burn any pictures that will stay on your body. I am the Lord.

`And a cutting for the soul ye do not put in your flesh; and a writing, a cross-mark, ye do not put on you; I Jehovah.

29 Do not put your daughter to shame by making her sell the use of her body. Or the land will become full of shame and sin.

`Thou dost not pollute thy daughter to cause her to go a-whoring, that the land go not a-whoring, and the land hath been full of wickedness.

30 K eep My Days of Rest and honor My holy place. I am the Lord.

`My sabbaths ye do keep, and My sanctuary ye do reverence; I Jehovah.

31 Do not ask what you should do from those who speak with bad spirits or talk to the dead. Do not find them or you will be unclean. I am the Lord your God.

`Ye do not turn unto those having familiar spirits; and unto wizards ye do not seek, for uncleanness by them; I Jehovah your God.

32 Show respect to the person with white hair. Honor an older person and you will honor your God. I am the Lord.

`At the presence of grey hairs thou dost rise up, and thou hast honoured the presence of an old man, and hast been afraid of thy God; I Jehovah.

33 If a stranger lives with you in your land, do not do wrong to him.

`And when a sojourner sojourneth with thee in your land, thou dost not oppress him;

34 Y ou should act toward the stranger who lives among you as you would toward one born among you. Love him as you love yourself. For you were strangers in the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.

as a native among you is the sojourner to you who is sojourning with you, and thou hast had love to him as to thyself, for sojourners ye have been in the land of Egypt; I Jehovah your God.

35 Do not lie about the weight or price of anything.

`Ye do not do perversity in judgment, in mete-yard, in weight, or in liquid measure;

36 A lways tell the truth about it. I am the Lord your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt.

righteous balances, righteous weights, a righteous ephah, and a righteous hin ye have; I Jehovah your God, who hath brought you out from the land of Egypt;

37 K eep all My Laws and do all that I tell you. I am the Lord.’”

and ye have observed all my statutes, and all my judgments, and have done them; I Jehovah.'
