1 L ord, You have been the place of comfort for all people of all time.

A Prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, a habitation Thou -- Thou hast been, To us -- in generation and generation,

2 B efore the mountains were born, before You gave birth to the earth and the world, forever and ever, You are God.

Before mountains were brought forth, And Thou dost form the earth and the world, Even from age unto age Thou God.

3 Y ou change man into dust again, and say, “Return, O children of men.”

Thou turnest man unto a bruised thing, And sayest, Turn back, ye sons of men.

4 F or a thousand years in Your eyes are like yesterday when it passes by, or like the hours of the night.

For a thousand years in Thine eyes as yesterday, For it passeth on, yea, a watch by night.

5 Y ou carry men away as with a flood. They fall asleep. In the morning they are like the new grass that grows.

Thou hast inundated them, they are asleep, In the morning as grass he changeth.

6 I t grows well in the morning, but dries up and dies by evening.

In the morning it flourisheth, and hath changed, At evening it is cut down, and hath withered.

7 F or we are burned up by Your anger. By Your anger we are troubled and afraid.

For we were consumed in Thine anger, And in Thy fury we have been troubled.

8 Y ou have set our wrong-doing before You, our secret sins in the light of Your face.

Thou hast set our iniquities before Thee, Our hidden things at the light of Thy face,

9 F or all our days pass away in Your anger. We finish our years with a quiet cry.

For all our days pined away in Thy wrath, We consumed our years as a meditation.

10 T he days of our life are seventy years, or eighty if we have the strength. Yet the best of them are only hard work and sorrow. For they are soon gone and we fly away.

Days of our years, in them seventy years, And if, by reason of might, eighty years, Yet their enlargement labour and vanity, For it hath been cut off hastily, and we fly away.

11 W ho understands the power of Your anger? Your anger is as great as the fear that we should have for You.

Who knoweth the power of Thine anger? And according to Thy fear -- Thy wrath?

12 T each us to understand how many days we have. Then we will have a heart of wisdom to give You.

To number our days aright let know, And we bring the heart to wisdom.

13 R eturn, O Lord. How long will it be? Have pity upon those who work for You.

Turn back, O Jehovah, till when? And repent concerning Thy servants.

14 F ill us in the morning with Your loving-kindness. Let us sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Satisfy us at morn Thy kindness, And we sing and rejoice all our days.

15 M ake us glad for as many days as You have made us suffer, and for the years we have seen trouble.

Cause us to rejoice according to the days Wherein Thou hast afflicted us, The years we have seen evil.

16 L et Your work be shown to Your servants. And let Your wonderful greatness be shown to their children.

Let Thy work appear unto Thy servants, And Thine honour on their sons.

17 L et the favor of the Lord our God be upon us. And make the work of our hands stand strong. Yes, make the work of our hands stand strong.

And let the pleasantness of Jehovah our God be upon us, And the work of our hands establish on us, Yea, the work of our hands establish it!
