1 J esus went out of the house of God. One of His followers said to Him, “Teacher, look at the big stones and these great buildings!”
And as he is going forth out of the temple, one of his disciples saith to him, `Teacher, see! what stones! and what buildings!'
2 J esus said, “Do you see these great buildings? All these stones will be thrown down. Not one will be left standing on another.” Jesus Teaches on the Mount Of Olives
and Jesus answering said to him, `Seest thou these great buildings? there may not be left a stone upon a stone, that may not be thrown down.'
3 J esus sat down on the Mount of Olives at a place where He could see the house of God. Peter and James and John and Andrew came to Him. They asked without anyone else hearing,
And as he is sitting at the mount of the Olives, over-against the temple, Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, were questioning him by himself,
4 “ Tell us when this will be. What are we to look for when these things are to happen?” What to Look for Before Jesus Returns
`Tell us when these things shall be? and what the sign when all these may be about to be fulfilled?'
5 J esus began to say to them, “Be careful that no one leads you the wrong way.
And Jesus answering them, began to say, `Take heed lest any one may lead you astray,
6 M any people will come using My name. They will say, ‘I am Christ.’ They will turn many to the wrong way.
for many shall come in my name, saying -- I am, and many they shall lead astray;
7 W hen you hear of wars and much talk about wars, do not be surprised. These things have to happen. But the end is not yet.
and when ye may hear of wars and reports of wars, be not troubled, for these behove to be, but the end not yet;
8 N ations will have wars with other nations. Countries will fight against countries. The earth will shake and break apart in different places. There will be no food for people. There will be much trouble. These things are the beginning of much sorrow and pain. It Will Be Hard for Those Who Believe
for nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles; beginnings of sorrows these.
9 “ Watch out for yourselves. They will take you to the courts. In the places of worship they will beat you. You will be taken in front of rulers and in front of kings because of Me. You will be there to tell them about Me.
`And take ye heed to yourselves, for they shall deliver you up to sanhedrims, and to synagogues, ye shall be beaten, and before governors and kings ye shall be set for my sake, for a testimony to them;
10 T he Good News must first be preached to all the nations.
and to all the nations it behoveth first that the good news be proclaimed.
11 “ When you are put into their hands, do not be afraid of what you are to say or how you are to say it. Whatever is given to you to say at that time, say it. It will not be you who speaks, but the Holy Spirit.
`And when they may lead you, delivering up, be not anxious beforehand what ye may speak, nor premeditate, but whatever may be given to you in that hour, that speak ye, for it is not ye who are speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
12 A brother will hand over a brother to death. A father will hand over his son. Children will turn against their parents and have them put to death.
`And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and father child, and children shall rise up against parents, and shall put them to death,
13 Y ou will be hated by all people because of Me. But he who stays true to the end will be saved. Days of Trouble and Pain and Sorrow
and ye shall be hated by all because of my name, but he who hath endured to the end -- he shall be saved.
14 “ You will see a very sinful man-made god standing in the house of God where it has no right to stand. Then those in the country of Judea should run to the mountains. It was spoken of by the early preacher Daniel. The one who reads this should understand.
`And when ye may see the abomination of the desolation, that was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (whoever is reading let him understand), then those in Judea, let them flee to the mountains;
15 H e that is on the top of the house should not take the time to get anything out of his house.
and he upon the house-top, let him not come down to the house, nor come in to take anything out of his house;
16 H e that is in the field should not go back to get his coat.
and he who is in the field, let him not turn to the things behind, to take up his garment.
17 I t will be hard for women who will soon be mothers. It will be hard for those feeding babies in those days!
`And wo to those with child, and to those giving suck, in those days;
18 P ray that it will not be during the winter.
and pray ye that your flight may not be in winter,
19 I n those days there will be much trouble and pain and sorrow. It has never been this bad from the beginning of time and never will be again.
for those days shall be tribulation, such as hath not been from the beginning of the creation that God created, till now, and may not be;
20 I f the Lord had not made those days short, no life would have been saved. Because of God’s people whom He has chosen, He made the days short. The False Religious Teachers
and if the Lord did not shorten the days, no flesh had been saved; but because of the chosen, whom He did choose to Himself, He did shorten the days.
21 “ If anyone says to you, ‘See! Here is the Christ,’ or, ‘There He is!’ do not believe it.
`And then, if any may say to you, Lo, here the Christ, or, Lo, there, ye may not believe;
22 S ome will come who will say they are Christ. False preachers will come. These people will do special things for people to see. They will do surprising things, so that if it can be, God’s people will be led to believe something wrong.
for there shall rise false Christs and false prophets, and they shall give signs and wonders, to seduce, if possible, also the chosen;
23 S ee! I have told you about these things before they happen. Jesus Will Come Again in His Greatness
and ye, take heed; lo, I have foretold you all things.
24 “ After those days of much trouble and pain and sorrow are over, the sun will get dark. The moon will not give light.
`But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
25 T he stars will fall from the sky. The powers in the heavens will be shaken.
and the stars of the heaven shall be falling, and the powers that are in the heavens shall be shaken.
26 T hen they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and shining-greatness.
`And then they shall see the Son of Man coming in clouds with much power and glory,
27 H e will send His angels. They will gather together God’s people from the four winds. They will come from one end of the earth to the other end of heaven. The Picture-Story of the Fig Tree
and then he shall send his messengers, and gather together his chosen from the four winds, from the end of the earth unto the end of heaven.
28 “ Now learn something from the fig tree. When the branch begins to grow and puts out its leaves, you know summer is near.
`And from the fig-tree learn ye the simile: when the branch may already become tender, and may put forth the leaves, ye know that nigh is the summer;
29 I n the same way, when you see all these things happen, you know the Son of Man is near. He is even at the door.
so ye, also, when these ye may see coming to pass, ye know that it is nigh, at the doors.
30 F or sure, I tell you, the people of this day will not pass away before all these things have happened.
Verily I say to you, that this generation may not pass away till all these things may come to pass;
31 “ Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will not pass away.
the heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
32 B ut no one knows the day or the hour. No! Not even the angels in heaven know. The Son does not know. Only the Father knows.
`And concerning that day and the hour no one hath known -- not even the messengers who are in the heaven, not even the Son -- except the Father.
33 “ Be careful! Watch and pray. You do not know when it will happen.
Take heed, watch and pray, for ye have not known when the time is;
34 T he coming of the Son of Man is as a man who went from his house to a far country. He gave each one of his servants some work to do. He told the one standing at the door to watch.
as a man who is gone abroad, having left his house, and given to his servants the authority, and to each one his work, did command also the porter that he may watch;
35 I n the same way, you are to watch also! You do not know when the Owner of the house will be coming. It may be in the evening or in the night or when the sun comes up or in the morning.
watch ye, therefore, for ye have not known when the lord of the house doth come, at even, or at midnight, or at cock-crowing, or at the morning;
36 H e may come when you are not looking for Him and find you sleeping.
lest, having come suddenly, he may find you sleeping;
37 W hat I say to you, I say to all. Watch!”
and what I say to you, I say to all, Watch.'
