1 T he Lord said to Moses,
And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
2 “ Tell Aaron and his sons to be careful with the holy gifts that the people of Israel set apart for Me. So they will not sin against My holy name. I am the Lord.
`Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and they are separated from the holy things of the sons of Israel, and they pollute not My holy name in what they are hallowing to Me; I Jehovah.
3 S ay to them, ‘If any one of all your children comes near the holy gifts that the people of Israel set apart for the Lord, while he is unclean, he will be cut off from My holy place. I am the Lord.
`Say unto them, To your generations, any man who draweth near, out of all your seed, unto the holy things which the sons of Israel do sanctify to Jehovah, and his uncleanness on him -- even that person hath been cut off from before Me; I Jehovah.
4 N one of the children of Aaron who has a bad skin disease or something flowing from his body may eat of the holy gifts until he is clean. If one touches anything that is unclean because of a dead body, or has had his seed come from his sex part,
`Any man of the seed of Aaron, and is leprous or hath an issue -- of the holy things he doth not eat till that he is clean; and he who is coming against any uncleanness of a person, or a man whose seed of copulation goeth out from him,
5 o r touches anything that is unclean that moves on the ground, or touches any man who makes him unclean, for whatever reason,
or a man who cometh against any teeming thing which is unclean to him, or against a man who is unclean to him, even any of his uncleanness --
6 t he man who touches any such thing will be unclean until evening. He must not eat of the holy gifts unless he has washed his body in water.
the person who cometh against it -- hath even been unclean till the evening, and doth not eat of the holy things, but hath bathed his flesh with water,
7 W hen the sun has gone down, he will be clean. After that he may eat of the holy gifts, for they are his food.
and the sun hath gone in, and he hath been clean, and afterwards he doth eat of the holy things, for it his food;
8 H e should not eat an animal that dies of itself or is killed by wild animals. He will be unclean if he does. I am the Lord.
a carcase or torn thing he doth not eat, for uncleanness thereby; I Jehovah.
9 T he religious leaders must obey My Law, so they will not be sinful because of it and die because they sin against My Law. I am the Lord Who makes them holy.
`And they have kept My charge, and bear no sin for it, that they have died for it when they pollute it; I Jehovah sanctifying them.
10 ‘ But no one who is not a religious leader may eat the holy gift. One who is visiting the religious leader or working for him must not eat of the holy gift.
`And no stranger doth eat of the holy thing; a settler of a priest and an hireling doth not eat of the holy thing;
11 B ut a person whom the religious leader buys to work for him with his own money may eat of it. And those who are born in his house may eat of his food.
and when a priest buyeth a person, the purchase of his money, he doth eat of it, also one born in his house; they do eat of his bread.
12 I f a religious leader’s daughter is married to a man who is not a religious leader, she must not eat of the holy gifts.
`And a priest's daughter, when she is a strange man's, -- she, of the heave-offering of the holy things doth not eat;
13 B ut if a religious leader’s daughter loses her husband by death or divorce, and has no child and returns to her father’s house as when she was young, she may eat of her father’s food. But no stranger may eat of it.
and a priest's daughter, when she is a widow, or cast out, and hath no seed, and hath turned back unto the house of her father, as her youth, of her father's bread she doth eat; but no stranger doth eat of it.
14 I f a man eats a holy gift by mistake, he must add a fifth of its worth to it and give the holy gift to the religious leader.
`And when a man doth eat of a holy thing through ignorance, then he hath added its fifth part to it, and hath given to the priest, with the holy thing;
15 T he religious leaders must not make the holy gifts unclean that the people of Israel give to the Lord.
and they do not pollute the holy things of the sons of Israel -- that which they lift up to Jehovah,
16 T his would bring sin upon them when they eat their holy gifts. For I am the Lord Who makes them holy.’” Gifts That Are Not Good Enough
nor have caused them to bear the iniquity of the guilt-offering in their eating their holy things; for I Jehovah, sanctifying them.'
17 T hen the Lord said to Moses,
And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
18 “ Say to Aaron and to his sons and to all the people of Israel, ‘When any man of the house of Israel or of the strangers in Israel gives his gift for a burnt gift to the Lord, to pay a promise or as a free-will gift
`Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and unto all the sons of Israel, and thou hast said unto them, Any man of the house of Israel, or of the sojourners in Israel, who bringeth near his offering, of all his vows, or of all his willing offerings which they bring near to Jehovah for a burnt-offering;
19 t o please the Lord, it must be a male that is perfect from the cattle, sheep or goats.
at your pleasure a perfect one, a male of the herd, of the sheep or of the goats;
20 D o not give anything that is not perfect, for you will not please the Lord.
nothing in which blemish do ye bring near, for it is not for a pleasing thing for you.
21 W hen a man gives a peace gift to the Lord to keep a special promise or for a free-will gift from the cattle or the flock, it must be perfect to be received. It must have nothing wrong with it.
`And when a man bringeth near a sacrifice of peace-offerings to Jehovah, to complete a vow, or for a willing-offering, of the herd or of the flock, it is perfect for a pleasing thing: no blemish is in it;
22 Y ou must not give to the Lord or make a gift by fire on the altar to the Lord any animals that are blind or broken or hurt or have a flowing sore or a skin disease.
blind, or broken, or maimed, or having a wen, or scurvy, or scabbed -- ye do not bring these near to Jehovah, and a fire-offering ye do not make of them on the altar to Jehovah.
23 Y ou may give for a free-will gift a bull or lamb which has some part too long or too short. But it will not be received if it is to pay a promise.
`As to an ox or a sheep enlarged or dwarfed -- a willing-offering ye do make it, but for a vow it is not pleasing.
24 D o not give to the Lord any animal with its sex parts hurt or crushed or torn or cut. Do not give such animals on the altar in your land.
As to a bruised, or beaten, or enlarged, or cut thing -- ye do not bring near to Jehovah; even in your land ye do not do it.
25 A nd do not receive such animals from a man from another land to give as the food of your God. For they are unclean. They are not perfect. They will not be received from you.’”
And from the hand of a son of a stranger ye do not bring near the bread of your God, of any of these, for their corruption in them; blemish in them; they are not pleasing for you.'
26 T he Lord said to Moses,
And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
27 “ When a bull or sheep or goat is born, it must stay seven days with its mother. After that it will be received as a gift by fire to the Lord.
`When ox or lamb or goat is born, and it hath been seven days under its dam, then from the eighth day and henceforth, it is pleasing for an offering, a fire-offering to Jehovah;
28 B ut do not kill a cow or female sheep and her young on the same day.
but an ox or sheep -- it and its young one, ye do not slaughter in one day.
29 W hen you give thanks to the Lord by giving a gift in worship, give it the right way so you will be received.
`And when ye sacrifice a sacrifice of thanksgiving to Jehovah, at your pleasure ye do sacrifice,
30 I t must be eaten on the same day. Do not leave any of it until morning. I am the Lord.
on that day it is eaten, ye do not leave of it till morning; I Jehovah;
31 “ So keep My Laws and obey them. I am the Lord.
and ye have kept my commands, and have done them; I Jehovah;
32 D o not sin against My holy name. I will be honored among the people of Israel. I am the Lord Who makes you holy.
and ye do not pollute My holy name, and I have been hallowed in the midst of the sons of Israel; I Jehovah, sanctifying you,
33 I brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God. I am the Lord.”
who am bringing you up out of the land of Egypt, to become your God; I Jehovah.'
