To the Overseer. -- A Song, a Psalm. Shout ye to God, all the earth.
2 S ing out the honor of His name! Make His praise great!
Praise ye the honour of His name, Make ye honourable His praise.
3 S ay to God, “How Your great works make those who hate You afraid! They will have to obey You because of Your great power.
Say to God, `How fearful Thy works, By the abundance of Thy strength, Thine enemies feign obedience to Thee.
4 A ll the earth will worship You and sing praises to You. They will sing praises to Your name.”
All the earth do bow to Thee, They sing praise to Thee, they praise Thy name.' Selah.
5 C ome and see what God has done. There is much fear because of His great works toward the children of men.
Come ye, and see the works of God, Fearful acts toward the sons of men.
6 H e changed the sea into dry land. They passed through the river on foot. There we were full of joy in Him.
He hath turned a sea to dry land, Through a river they pass over on foot, There do we rejoice in Him.
7 H e rules forever by His power. His eyes keep watch over the nations. Do not let those who do not obey You honor themselves.
Ruling by His might to the age, His eyes among the nations do watch, The refractory exalt not themselves. Selah.
8 G ive honor and thanks to God, O people, and let all hear how great He is!
Bless, ye peoples, our God, And sound the voice of His praise,
9 H e keeps us alive, and does not let our feet go out from under us.
Who hath placed our soul in life, And suffered not our feet to be moved.
10 F or You have tested us, O God. You have made us pure like silver is made pure.
For Thou hast tried us, O God, Thou hast refined us as the refining of silver.
11 Y ou brought us into the net. And You laid a heavy load on our back.
Thou hast brought us into a net, Thou hast placed pressure on our loins.
12 Y ou made men travel over our heads. We went through fire and through water. But You brought us out into a place where we have much more than we need.
Thou hast caused man to ride at our head. We have entered into fire and into water, And Thou bringest us out to a watered place.
13 I will come into Your house with burnt gifts. I will give You what I promised,
I enter Thy house with burnt-offerings, I complete to Thee my vows,
14 p romises made by my lips and spoken by my mouth when I was in trouble.
For opened were my lips, And my mouth spake in my distress:
15 I will give You burnt gifts of fat animals with the smoke of rams. I will give You bulls with male goats.
`Burnt-offerings of fatlings I offer to Thee, With perfume of rams, I prepare a bullock with he-goats.' Selah.
16 C ome and hear, all who fear God, and I will tell you what He has done for me.
Come, hear, all ye who fear God, And I recount what he did for my soul.
17 I cried to Him with my mouth and praised Him with my tongue.
Unto Him my mouth I have called, And exaltation under my tongue.
18 T he Lord will not hear me if I hold on to sin in my heart.
Iniquity, if I have seen in my heart, The Lord doth not hear.
19 B ut it is sure that God has heard. He has listened to the voice of my prayer.
But God hath heard, He hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
20 H onor and thanks be to God! He has not turned away from my prayer or held His loving-kindness from me.
Blessed God, Who hath not turned aside my prayer, And His loving-kindness, from me!
