1 W e give thanks to You, O God. We give thanks that Your name is near. Men tell about the great things You have done.
To the Overseer. -- `Destroy not.' -- A Psalm of Asaph. -- A Song. We have given thanks to Thee, O God, We have given thanks, and near Thy name, They have recounted Thy wonders.
2 Y ou say, “When the right time has come, I will be right and fair in deciding who is guilty or not.
When I receive an appointment, I -- I do judge uprightly.
3 W hen the earth and all its people shake, it is I Who will hold it together.
Melted is the earth and all its inhabitants, I -- I have pondered its pillars. Selah.
4 I said to the proud, ‘Do not speak with pride.’ And I said to the sinful, ‘Do not lift up the horn.
I have said to the boastful, `Be not boastful,' And to the wicked, `Raise not up a horn.'
5 D o not lift your horn up high. Do not speak in your pride.’”
Raise not up on high your horn, (Ye speak with a stiff neck.)
6 F or honor does not come from the east or the west or from the desert.
For not from the east, or from the west, Nor from the wilderness -- elevation.
7 B ut God is the One Who decides. He puts down one and brings respect to another.
But God judge, This He maketh low -- and this He lifteth up.
8 F or there is a cup in the Lord’s hand. It is full of strong wine that is well mixed. He pours out from it, and all the sinful people of the earth must drink all of it.
For a cup in the hand of Jehovah, And the wine hath foamed, It is full of mixture, and He poureth out of it, Only its dregs wring out, and drink, Do all the wicked of the earth,
9 B ut as for me, I will tell of it forever. I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
And I -- I declare to the age, I sing praise to the God of Jacob.
10 H e will cut off all the horns of the sinful. But the horns of those who are right with God will be lifted up.
And all horns of the wicked I cut off, Exalted are the horns of the righteous!
