1 H appy is the man who does not walk in the way sinful men tell him to, or stand in the path of sinners, or sit with those who laugh at the truth.
O the happiness of that one, who Hath not walked in the counsel of the wicked. And in the way of sinners hath not stood, And in the seat of scorners hath not sat;
2 B ut he finds joy in the Law of the Lord and thinks about His Law day and night.
But -- in the law of Jehovah his delight, And in His law he doth meditate by day and by night:
3 T his man is like a tree planted by rivers of water, which gives its fruit at the right time and its leaf never dries up. Whatever he does will work out well for him.
And he hath been as a tree, Planted by rivulets of water, That giveth its fruit in its season, And its leaf doth not wither, And all that he doth he causeth to prosper.
4 S inful men are not like this. They are like straw blown away by the wind.
Not so the wicked: But -- as chaff that wind driveth away!
5 S o the sinful will not stand. They will be told they are guilty and have to suffer for it. Sinners will not stand with those who are right with God.
Therefore the wicked rise not in judgment, Nor sinners in the company of the righteous,
6 F or the Lord knows the way of those who are right with Him. But the way of the sinful will be lost from God forever.
For Jehovah is knowing the way of the righteous, And the way of the wicked is lost!
