1 W hy do you take pride in wrong-doing, O powerful man? The loving-kindness of God lasts all day long.

To the Overseer. -- An instruction, by David, in the coming in of Doeg the Edomite, and he declareth to Saul, and saith to him, `David came in unto the house of Ahimelech.' What, boasteth thou in evil, O mighty one? The kindness of God all the day.

2 Y our tongue makes plans to destroy like a sharp knife, you who lie.

Mischiefs doth thy tongue devise, Like a sharp razor, working deceit.

3 Y ou love what is bad more than what is good, and you speak lies more than you speak the truth.

Thou hast loved evil rather than good, Lying, than speaking righteousness. Selah.

4 Y ou love all words that destroy, O lying tongue.

Thou hast loved all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.

5 B ut God will destroy you forever. He will pick you up and pull you away from your tent. He will pull up your roots from the land of the living.

Also -- God doth break thee down for ever, Taketh thee, and pulleth thee out of the tent, And He hath uprooted thee Out of the land of the living. Selah.

6 A nd those who are right will see and be afraid. They will laugh at him, saying,

And the righteous see, And fear, and laugh at him.

7 Look, the man who would not make God his safe place, but trusted in his many riches and was strong in his sinful desire.”

`Lo, the man who maketh not God his strong place, And trusteth in the abundance of his riches, He is strong in his mischiefs.'

8 B ut I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the loving-kindness of God forever and ever.

And I, as a green olive in the house of God, I have trusted in the kindness of God, To the age and for ever,

9 I will give You thanks forever because of what You have done. And I will hope in Your name, for it is good to be where those who belong to You are.

I thank Thee to the age, because Thou hast done, And I wait Thy name for good before Thy saints!
