1 A braham took another wife whose name was Keturah.

And Abraham addeth and taketh a wife, and her name Keturah;

2 S he gave birth to his sons, Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah.

and she beareth to him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.

3 J okshan became the father of Sheba and Dedan. The sons of Dedan were Asshurim, Letushim, and Leummim.

And Jokshan hath begotten Sheba and Dedan; and the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim;

4 T he sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the sons of Keturah.

and the sons of Midian Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abidah, and Eldaah: all these sons of Keturah.

5 A braham gave all he had to Isaac.

And Abraham giveth all that he hath to Isaac;

6 B ut while he was still living, Abraham gave gifts to the sons of the women he kept who acted as his wives. And he sent them to the land of the East, away from his son Isaac.

and to the sons of the concubines whom Abraham hath, Abraham hath given gifts, and sendeth them away from Isaac his son (in his being yet alive) eastward, unto the east country.

7 A braham lived 175 years.

And these the days of the years of the life of Abraham, which he lived, a hundred and seventy and five years;

8 T hen Abraham breathed his last and died, after living a long and full life of many good years, and was buried with his people.

and Abraham expireth, and dieth in a good old age, aged and satisfied, and is gathered unto his people.

9 H is sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the grave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, east of Mamre.

And Isaac and Ishmael his sons bury him at the cave of Machpelah, at the field of Ephron, son of Zoar the Hittite, which before Mamre --

10 T his was the field that Abraham bought from the sons of Heth. Abraham was buried there with his wife Sarah.

the field which Abraham bought from the sons of Heth -- there hath Abraham been buried, and Sarah his wife.

11 A fter the death of Abraham, God brought good to his son Isaac. And Isaac lived at Beerlahairoi.

And it cometh to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blesseth Isaac his son; and Isaac dwelleth by the Well of the Living One, my Beholder.

12 T hese are the children and their children’s children of Abraham’s son Ishmael, who was born to Abraham and Hagar, who was Sarah’s woman servant.

And these births of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, hath borne to Abraham;

13 T hese are the names of the sons of Ishmael, the names of the first-born to the last: Nebaioth, Ishmael’s first-born, then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

and these the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their births: first-born of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,

14 M ishma, Dumah, Massa,

and Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,

15 H adad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah.

Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:

16 T hese are the sons of Ishmael and these are their names, by their towns and by their groups of tents, twelve rulers and their families.

these are sons of Ishmael, and these their names, by their villages, and by their towers; twelve princes according to their peoples.

17 I shmael lived 137 years. Then he breathed his last and died, and was buried with his people.

And these the years of the life of Ishmael, a hundred and thirty and seven years; and he expireth, and dieth, and is gathered unto his people;

18 H is people lived from Havilah as far as Shur, east of Egypt on the way toward Assyria. He lived away from all his brothers. The Birth of Esau and Jacob

and they tabernacle from Havilah unto Shur, which before Egypt, in going towards Asshur; in the presence of all his brethren hath he fallen.

19 T hese are the children and their children’s children of Abraham’s son Isaac. Abraham was the father of Isaac.

And these births of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham hath begotten Isaac;

20 I saac was forty years old when he married Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Paddan-aram, and the sister of Laban the Syrian.

and Isaac is a son of forty years in his taking Rebekah, daughter of Bethuel the Aramaean, from Padan-Aram, sister of Laban the Aramaean, to him for a wife.

21 I saac prayed to the Lord for his wife, because she could not give birth and the Lord answered him. Rebekah was able to give birth.

And Isaac maketh entreaty to Jehovah before his wife, for she barren: and Jehovah is entreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceiveth,

22 B ut the babies within her fought together. And she said, “If this is so, why am I like this?” She went to ask the Lord why.

and the children struggle together within her, and she saith, `If right -- why I thus?' and she goeth to seek Jehovah.

23 T he Lord said to her, “Two nations are within you. Two peoples will be divided from your body. One will be stronger than the other. And the older will serve the younger.”

And Jehovah saith to her, `Two nations in thy womb, and two peoples from thy bowels are parted; and the people than the people is stronger; and the elder doth serve the younger.'

24 W hen the day came for her to give birth, there were two babies to be born.

And her days to bear are fulfilled, and lo, twins in her womb;

25 T he first to come out was red and he had hair all over his body. They gave him the name of Esau.

and the first cometh out all red as a hairy robe, and they call his name Esau;

26 T hen the brother was born. His hand was holding Esau’s heel. So he was given the name of Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah gave birth to them. Esau Sells His Birth-Right

and afterwards hath his brother come out, and his hand is taking hold on Esau's heel, and one calleth his name Jacob; and Isaac a son of sixty years in her bearing them.

27 W hen the boys grew older, Esau became a good hunter, a man of the field. But Jacob was a man of peace, living in tents.

And the youths grew, and Esau is a man acquainted hunting, a man of the field; and Jacob a plain man, inhabiting tents;

28 I saac showed favor to Esau, because he liked to eat the meat of the animals Esau killed. But Rebekah showed favor to Jacob.

and Isaac loveth Esau, for hunting in his mouth; and Rebekah is loving Jacob.

29 A s Jacob was getting food ready one day, Esau came in from the field and was very hungry.

And Jacob boileth pottage, and Esau cometh in from the field, and he weary;

30 E sau said to Jacob, “Let me eat some of that red meat, for I am very hungry.” That is why his name was called Edom.

and Esau saith unto Jacob, `Let me eat, I pray thee, some of this red red thing, for I weary;' therefore hath called his name Edom;

31 B ut Jacob said, “First, sell me your birth-right.”

and Jacob saith, `Sell to-day thy birthright to me.'

32 E sau said, “See, I am about to die. So what good is my birth-right to me?”

And Esau saith, `Lo, I am going to die, and what is this to me -- birthright?'

33 J acob said, “First give me your promise.” So Esau promised, and sold his birth-right to Jacob.

and Jacob saith, `Swear to me to-day:' and he sweareth to him, and selleth his birthright to Jacob;

34 T hen Jacob gave Esau bread and vegetables, and Esau ate and drank. Then Esau stood up and went on his way. So Esau hated his birth-right.

and Jacob hath given to Esau bread and pottage of lentiles, and he eateth, and drinketh, and riseth, and goeth; and Esau despiseth the birthright.
