1 T he Lord said to Moses,
Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
2 “ Tell Aaron and his sons to be careful with the holy gifts that the people of Israel set apart for Me. So they will not sin against My holy name. I am the Lord.
“Tell Aaron and his sons to separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, which they make holy to me, and that they not profane my holy name. I am Yahweh.
3 S ay to them, ‘If any one of all your children comes near the holy gifts that the people of Israel set apart for the Lord, while he is unclean, he will be cut off from My holy place. I am the Lord.
“Tell them, ‘If anyone of all your offspring throughout your generations approaches the holy things, which the children of Israel make holy to Yahweh, having his uncleanness on him, that soul shall be cut off from before me. I am Yahweh.
4 N one of the children of Aaron who has a bad skin disease or something flowing from his body may eat of the holy gifts until he is clean. If one touches anything that is unclean because of a dead body, or has had his seed come from his sex part,
“‘Whoever of the offspring of Aaron is a leper or has an issue; he shall not eat of the holy things, until he is clean. Whoever touches anything that is unclean by the dead, or a man whose offspring goes from him;
5 o r touches anything that is unclean that moves on the ground, or touches any man who makes him unclean, for whatever reason,
or whoever touches any creeping thing, whereby he may be made unclean, or a man of whom he may take uncleanness, whatever uncleanness he has;
6 t he man who touches any such thing will be unclean until evening. He must not eat of the holy gifts unless he has washed his body in water.
the person that touches any such shall be unclean until the evening, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he bathe his body in water.
7 W hen the sun has gone down, he will be clean. After that he may eat of the holy gifts, for they are his food.
When the sun is down, he shall be clean; and afterward he shall eat of the holy things, because it is his bread.
8 H e should not eat an animal that dies of itself or is killed by wild animals. He will be unclean if he does. I am the Lord.
That which dies of itself, or is torn by animals, he shall not eat, defiling himself by it. I am Yahweh.
9 T he religious leaders must obey My Law, so they will not be sinful because of it and die because they sin against My Law. I am the Lord Who makes them holy.
“‘They shall therefore follow my requirements, lest they bear sin for it, and die therein, if they profane it. I am Yahweh who sanctifies them.
10 ‘ But no one who is not a religious leader may eat the holy gift. One who is visiting the religious leader or working for him must not eat of the holy gift.
“‘No stranger shall eat of the holy thing: a foreigner living with the priests, or a hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing.
11 B ut a person whom the religious leader buys to work for him with his own money may eat of it. And those who are born in his house may eat of his food.
But if a priest buys a slave, purchased by his money, he shall eat of it; and such as are born in his house, they shall eat of his bread.
12 I f a religious leader’s daughter is married to a man who is not a religious leader, she must not eat of the holy gifts.
If a priest’s daughter is married to an outsider, she shall not eat of the heave offering of the holy things.
13 B ut if a religious leader’s daughter loses her husband by death or divorce, and has no child and returns to her father’s house as when she was young, she may eat of her father’s food. But no stranger may eat of it.
But if a priest’s daughter is a widow, or divorced, and has no child, and has returned to her father’s house, as in her youth, she may eat of her father’s bread: but no stranger shall eat any of it.
14 I f a man eats a holy gift by mistake, he must add a fifth of its worth to it and give the holy gift to the religious leader.
“‘If a man eats something holy unwittingly, then he shall add the fifth part of its value to it, and shall give the holy thing to the priest.
15 T he religious leaders must not make the holy gifts unclean that the people of Israel give to the Lord.
The priests shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel, which they offer to Yahweh,
16 T his would bring sin upon them when they eat their holy gifts. For I am the Lord Who makes them holy.’” Gifts That Are Not Good Enough
and so cause them to bear the iniquity that brings guilt, when they eat their holy things; for I am Yahweh who sanctifies them.’”
17 T hen the Lord said to Moses,
Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
18 “ Say to Aaron and to his sons and to all the people of Israel, ‘When any man of the house of Israel or of the strangers in Israel gives his gift for a burnt gift to the Lord, to pay a promise or as a free-will gift
“Speak to Aaron, and to his sons, and to all the children of Israel, and say to them, ‘Whoever is of the house of Israel, or of the foreigners in Israel, who offers his offering, whether it is any of their vows, or any of their freewill offerings, which they offer to Yahweh for a burnt offering;
19 t o please the Lord, it must be a male that is perfect from the cattle, sheep or goats.
that you may be accepted, you shall offer a male without defect, of the bulls, of the sheep, or of the goats.
20 D o not give anything that is not perfect, for you will not please the Lord.
But whatever has a defect, that you shall not offer; for it shall not be acceptable for you.
21 W hen a man gives a peace gift to the Lord to keep a special promise or for a free-will gift from the cattle or the flock, it must be perfect to be received. It must have nothing wrong with it.
Whoever offers a sacrifice of peace offerings to Yahweh to accomplish a vow, or for a freewill offering, of the herd or of the flock, it shall be perfect to be accepted. It shall have no defect.
22 Y ou must not give to the Lord or make a gift by fire on the altar to the Lord any animals that are blind or broken or hurt or have a flowing sore or a skin disease.
Blind, injured, maimed, having a wart, festering, or having a running sore: you shall not offer these to Yahweh, nor make an offering by fire of them on the altar to Yahweh.
23 Y ou may give for a free-will gift a bull or lamb which has some part too long or too short. But it will not be received if it is to pay a promise.
Either a bull or a lamb that has any deformity or lacking in his parts, that you may offer for a freewill offering; but for a vow it shall not be accepted.
24 D o not give to the Lord any animal with its sex parts hurt or crushed or torn or cut. Do not give such animals on the altar in your land.
You must not offer to Yahweh that which has its testicles bruised, crushed, broken, or cut. You must not do this in your land.
25 A nd do not receive such animals from a man from another land to give as the food of your God. For they are unclean. They are not perfect. They will not be received from you.’”
You must not offer the bread of your God from the hand of a foreigner as any of these; because their corruption is in them. There is a defect in them. They shall not be accepted for you.’”
26 T he Lord said to Moses,
Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
27 “ When a bull or sheep or goat is born, it must stay seven days with its mother. After that it will be received as a gift by fire to the Lord.
“When a bull, or a sheep, or a goat, is born, then it shall remain seven days with its mother; and from the eighth day and thenceforth it shall be accepted for the offering of an offering made by fire to Yahweh.
28 B ut do not kill a cow or female sheep and her young on the same day.
Whether it is a cow or ewe, you shall not kill it and its young both in one day.
29 W hen you give thanks to the Lord by giving a gift in worship, give it the right way so you will be received.
“When you sacrifice a sacrifice of thanksgiving to Yahweh, you shall sacrifice it so that you may be accepted.
30 I t must be eaten on the same day. Do not leave any of it until morning. I am the Lord.
It shall be eaten on the same day; you shall leave none of it until the morning. I am Yahweh.
31 “ So keep My Laws and obey them. I am the Lord.
“Therefore you shall keep my commandments, and do them. I am Yahweh.
32 D o not sin against My holy name. I will be honored among the people of Israel. I am the Lord Who makes you holy.
You shall not profane my holy name, but I will be made holy among the children of Israel. I am Yahweh who makes you holy,
33 I brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God. I am the Lord.”
