1 G od takes His stand in the great meeting of His people. He judges among the rulers.

God presides in the great assembly. He judges among the gods.

2 H ow long will you rulers be wrong in how you judge? How long will you show favor to the sinful?

“How long will you judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked?” Selah.

3 D o the right thing for the weak and those without a father. Stand up for the rights of those who are suffering and in need.

“Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless. Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.

4 S ave the weak and those in need. Set them free from the hand of the sinful.

Rescue the weak and needy. Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.”

5 T hey know nothing; they understand nothing. They walk around in the dark. All that the earth is built upon is shaking.

They don’t know, neither do they understand. They walk back and forth in darkness. All the foundations of the earth are shaken.

6 I said, “You are gods. You are all sons of the Most High.

I said, “You are gods, all of you are sons of the Most High.

7 B ut you will die like men, and fall like one of the princes.”

Nevertheless you shall die like men, and fall like one of the rulers.”

8 R ise up, O God! Say who is guilty or not guilty upon the earth! For all the nations belong to You.

Arise, God, judge the earth, for you inherit all of the nations.
