1 T hen I looked and saw something like a sapphire stone in the open space that was over the cherubim’s heads. It looked like a throne above them.

Then I looked, and see, in the expanse that was over the head of the cherubim there appeared above them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.

2 A nd the Lord said to the man dressed in linen, “Go in between the wheels under the cherubim. Fill your hands with coals of fire from between the cherubim and throw them over the city.” And as I watched, he went in.

He spoke to the man clothed in linen, and said, Go in between the whirling wheels, even under the cherub, and fill both your hands with coals of fire from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city. He went in as I watched.

3 N ow the cherubim were standing on the right side of the house of the Lord when the man went in. And the cloud filled the open space inside.

Now the cherubim stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court.

4 T hen the shining-greatness of the Lord went up from above the cherubim to the door of the Lord’s house. The house of the Lord was filled with the cloud. And the open space was filled with the bright and shining-greatness of the Lord.

Yahweh’s glory mounted up from the cherub, and stood over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of Yahweh’s glory.

5 T he sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard as far as the outside open space. It was like the voice of God All-powerful when He speaks.

The sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of God Almighty when he speaks.

6 W hen He told the man dressed in linen, “Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubim,” the man went in and stood beside a wheel.

It came to pass, when he commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, Take fire from between the whirling wheels, from between the cherubim, that he went in, and stood beside a wheel.

7 T hen one of the cherubim put out his hand to the fire which was among them. He took some and put it into the hands of the one dressed in linen, who took it and went out.

The cherub stretched out his hand from between the cherubim to the fire that was between the cherubim, and took of it, and put it into the hands of him who was clothed in linen, who took it and went out.

8 ( The cherubim had what looked like a man’s hands under their wings.)

There appeared in the cherubim the form of a man’s hand under their wings.

9 T hen I looked and saw four wheels beside the cherubim, one wheel beside each cherub. The wheels looked like they were made of shining chrysolite stone.

I looked, and behold, four wheels beside the cherubim, one wheel beside one cherub, and another wheel beside another cherub; and the appearance of the wheels was like a beryl stone.

10 A ll four of them looked the same. Each looked like they had one wheel inside another wheel.

As for their appearance, the four of them had one likeness, like a wheel within a wheel.

11 W hen they moved, they went in any of their four ways without turning as they went, but followed the way the head was facing without turning as they went.

When they went, they went in their four directions: they didn’t turn as they went, but to the place where the head looked they followed it; they didn’t turn as they went.

12 A nd their whole body, their backs, their hands, their wings, and the wheels were full of eyes all around, the wheels belonging to all four of them.

Their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes all around, even the wheels that the four of them had.

13 T he wheels were called in my hearing, “the turning wheels.”

As for the wheels, they were called in my hearing, the whirling wheels.

14 E ach one of the cherubim had four faces. The first face was the face of a cherub. The second face was the face of a man. The third was the face of a lion. And the fourth was the face of an eagle.

Every one had four faces: the first face was the face of the cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third face the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

15 T hen the cherubim rose up. They were the living beings that I saw by the Chebar River.

The cherubim mounted up: this is the living creature that I saw by the river Chebar.

16 N ow when the cherubim moved, the wheels went beside them. And when the cherubim lifted up their wings to rise from the ground, the wheels did not leave their side.

When the cherubim went, the wheels went beside them; and when the cherubim lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the wheels also didn’t turn from beside them.

17 W hen the cherubim stood still, the wheels stood still. When they rose up, the wheels rose with them. For the spirit of the living beings was in them.

When they stood, these stood; and when they mounted up, these mounted up with them: for the spirit of the living creature was in them.

18 T hen the shining-greatness of the Lord left the door of the Lord’s house and stood over the cherubim.

Yahweh’s glory went out from over the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubim.

19 W hen the cherubim left, they lifted their wings and rose up from the earth in front of my eyes, with the wheels beside them. And they stood still at the door of the east gate of the Lord’s house. The shining-greatness of the God of Israel was over them.

The cherubim lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight when they went out, and the wheels beside them: and they stood at the door of the east gate of Yahweh’s house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.

20 T hese are the living beings that I saw under the God of Israel by the Chebar River, so I knew that they were cherubim.

This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river Chebar; and I knew that they were cherubim.

21 E ach one had four faces and four wings, and under their wings were what looked like human hands.

Every one had four faces, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings.

22 T heir faces looked the same as those I had seen by the Chebar River. Each one went straight ahead.

As for the likeness of their faces, they were the faces which I saw by the river Chebar, their appearances and themselves; they went every one straight forward.
