1 Q uesti sono gli uomini che vennero da Davide a Tsiklag, quando egli si teneva lontano dalla presenza di Saul, figlio di Kish; essi erano parte dei prodi che l'aiutarono in guerra;

And these those coming in unto David to Ziklag, while shut up because of Saul son of Kish, and they among the mighty ones, helping the battle,

2 e rano armati d'arco e potevano usare tanto la mano destra che la sinistra per lanciare sassi e tirare frecce con l'arco; erano della tribú di Beniamino, fratelli di Saul.

armed with bow, right and left handed, with stones, and with arrows, with bows, of the brethren of Saul, of Benjamin.

3 I l capo era Ahiezer, poi Joas, figli di Scemaah, di Ghiberah, Jeziel e Pelet, figli di Azmaveth; Berakahe Jehu di Anathoth;

The head Ahiezer, and Joash, sons of Shemaab the Gibeathite, and Jeziel, and Pelet, sons of Azmaveth, and Berachah, and Jehu the Antothite,

4 I shmaiah di Gabaon, valoroso fra i trenta e capo dei trenta; Geremia, Jahaziel, Johanan, Jozabad di Ghedera

and Ishmaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty one among the thirty, and over the thirty, and Jeremiah, and Jahaziel, and Johanan, and Josabad the Gederathite.

5 E luzai, Jerimoth, Bealiah, Scemariah Scefatiah di Haruf;

8 F ra i Gaditi alcuni uomini scelsero di unirsi a Davide nella fortezza del deserto; erano uomini forti e valorosi, addestrati alla guerra, abili nel maneggiare scudo e lancia; le loro facce erano come le facce dei leoni e sui monti erano veloci come gazzelle.

And of the Gadite there have been separated unto David, to the fortress, to the wilderness, mighty of valour, men of the host for battle, setting in array target and buckler, and their faces the face of the lion, and as roes on the mountains for speed:

9 E zer era il capo, Obadiah il secondo Eliab il terzo.

Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth,

13 G eremia il decimo, Makbannai l'undicesimo.

Jeremiah the tenth, Machbannai the eleventh.

14 Q uesti Gaditi erano capi dell'esercito; il piú piccolo ne comandava cento, il piú grande mille.

These of the sons of Gad, heads of the host, one of a hundred the least, and the greatest, of a thousand;

15 Q uesti sono coloro che passarono il Giordano nel primo mese quando era straripato su tutti gli argini, e misero in fuga tutti gli abitanti delle valli, a est e a ovest.

these they who have passed over the Jordan in the first month, -- and it is full over all its banks -- and cause all the valley to flee to the east and to the west.

16 A nche alcuni dei figli di Beniamino e di Giuda andarono da Davide nella fortezza.

And there come of the sons of Benjamin and Judah unto the stronghold to David,

17 D avide uscí loro incontro e, prendendo la parola, disse: «Se siete venuti da me con intenzioni pacifiche per aiutarmi, sono disposto a unirmi a voi, ma se è per tradirmi e consegnarmi ai miei avversari, benché io non abbia commesso alcuna violenza, il DIO dei nostri padri veda e punisca».

and David goeth out before them, and answereth and saith to them, `If for peace ye have come in unto me, to help me, I have a heart to unite with you; and if to betray me to mine adversaries -- without violence in my hands -- the God of our fathers doth see and reprove.'

18 A llora lo Spirito investí Amasai, capo dei trenta, che esclamò: «Noi siamo tuoi, Davide; siamo con te, figlio di Isai! Pace, pace a te e pace a chi ti aiuta, perché il tuo DIO ti aiuta». Allora Davide li accolse e li fece capi di schiere.

And the Spirit hath clothed Amasai, head of the captains: `To thee, O David, and with thee, O son of Jesse -- peace! peace to thee, and peace to thy helper, for thy God hath helped thee;' and David receiveth them, and putteth them among the heads of the troop.

19 A nche da Manasse alcuni passarono a Davide, quando questi andò con i Filistei a combattere contro Saul; ma essi non furono di alcun aiuto ai Filistei, perché i principi dei Filistei, dopo essersi consultati, rimandarono Davide, dicendo: «Egli passerebbe dalla parte del suo signore Saul a prezzo delle nostre teste».

And of Manasseh there have fallen unto David in his coming with the Philistines against Israel to battle -- and they helped them not, for by counsel the princes of the Philistines sent him away, saying, `With our heads he doth fall unto his master Saul.' --

20 M entre andava a Tsiklag, quelli di Manasse che passarono a lui furono Adnah, Jozbad, Jediael, Mikael; Jozabad, Elihu, Tsillethai, capi di migliaia che appartenevano a Manasse.

In his going unto Ziglag there have fallen unto him of Manasseh, Adnah, and Jozabad, and Jediael, and Michael, and Jozabad, and Elihu, and Zillthai, heads of the thousands that of Manasseh;

21 C ostoro aiutarono Davide contro le bande dei razziatori perché erano tutti uomini forti e valorosi e divennero capi nell'esercito.

and they have helped with David over the troop, for mighty of valour all of them, and they are captains in the host,

22 A quel tempo, infatti, ogni giorno alcuni venivano da Davide per aiutarlo finché si formò un grande esercito come l'esercito di DIO.

for at that time, day by day, they come in unto David to help him, till it is a great camp, like a camp of God.

23 Q uesto è il numero dei capi armati per la guerra, che si recarono da Davide a Hebron a per trasferire a lui il regno di Saul, secondo la parola dell'Eterno.

And these the numbers of the head, of the armed men of the host; they have come in unto David to Hebron to turn round the kingdom of Saul unto him, according to the mouth of Jehovah.

24 I figli di Giuda, che portavano scudo e lancia erano seimilaottocento, armati per la guerra.

The sons of Judah, bearing target and spear, six thousand and eight hundred, armed ones of the host.

25 D ei figli di Simeone, uomini forti e valorosi in guerra, settemilacento.

Of the sons of Simeon, mighty ones of valour for the host, seven thousand and a hundred.

26 D ei figli di Levi, quattromilaseicento;

Of the sons of Levi four thousand and six hundred;

27 i noltre Jehoiada, principe della famiglia di Aaronne, e con lui tremilasettecento uomini,

and Jehoiada the leader of the Aaronite, and with him three thousand and seven hundred,

28 e Tsadok, giovane forte e valoroso, con ventidue capi della sua casa paterna.

and Zadok, a young man, mighty of valour, and of the house of his father twenty and two heads.

29 D ei figli di Beniamino, fratelli di Saul, tremila (perché la maggior parte di essi fino allora era rimasta fedele alla casa di Saul).

And of the sons of Benjamin, brethren of Saul, three thousand, and hitherto their greater part are keeping the charge of the house of Saul.

30 D ei figli di Efraim, ventimilaottocento, uomini forti e valorosi, uomini famosi, secondo le loro case paterne.

And of the sons of Ephraim twenty thousand and eight hundred, mighty of valour, men of name, according to the house of their fathers.

31 D ella mezza tribú di Manasse, diciottomila, che furono scelti individualmente per andare a proclamare re Davide.

And of the half of the tribe of Manasseh eighteen thousand, who have been defined by name, to come in to cause David to reign.

32 D ei figli di Issacar, che avevano intendimento dei tempi e sapevano quindi ciò che Israele doveva fare: duecento capi e tutti i loro fratelli ai loro ordini.

And of the sons of Issachar, having understanding for the times, to know what Israel should do; their heads two hundred, and all their brethren at their command.

33 D i Zabulon, cinquantamila, che andavano a combattere, abili a disporsi in ordine di battaglia con tutte le armi da guerra e capaci di tenere la propria posizione con cuore fermo.

Of Zebulun, going forth to the host, arranging battle with all instruments of battle, fifty thousand, and keeping rank without a double heart.

34 D i Neftali, mille capi, e con essi trentasettemila uomini con scudo e lancia.

And of Naphtali, a thousand heads, and with them, with target and spear, thirty and seven thousand.

35 D ei Daniti, abili a disporsi In ordine di battaglia, ventottomilaseicento.

And of the Danite, arranging battle, twenty and eight thousand and six hundred.

36 D i Ascer, quarantamila, che andavano a combattere e abili a disporsi in ordine di battaglia.

And of Asher, going forth to the host, to arrange battle, forty thousand.

37 D all'altra parte del Giordano, dei Rubeniti, dei Gaditi e della mezza tribú di Manasse, centoventimila, forniti di tutte le armi da guerra per combattere.

And from beyond the Jordan, of the Reubenite, and of the Gadite, and of the half of the tribe of Manasseh, with all instruments of the host for battle, a hundred and twenty thousand.

38 T utti questi uomini di guerra, capaci di tenere la propria posizione con cuore fermo, vennero a Hebron, per proclamare Davide re sopra tutto Israele; anche tutto il resto d'Israele era unanime per fare re Davide.

All these men of war, keeping rank -- with a perfect heart they have come to Hebron, to cause David to reign over all Israel, and also all the rest of Israel of one heart, to cause David to reign,

39 E ssi rimasero là tre giorni con Davide mangiando e bevendo, perché i loro fratelli avevano provveduto viveri per loro.

and they are there, with David, three days, eating and drinking, for their brethren have prepared for them.

40 A nche i loro vicini e persino da Issacar, da Zabulon e da Neftali portavano viveri su asini, su cammelli, su muli e su buoi, grandi provviste di farina, schiacciate di fichi secchi e di uva passa, vino, olio, buoi e pecore in abbondanza; perchè c'era gioia in Israele.

And also those near unto them, unto Issachar, and Zebulun, and Naphtali, are bringing in bread on asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen -- food of fine flour, fig-cakes and grape-cakes, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and sheep, in abundance, for joy in Israel.
