1 ( Ein Psalmlied Davids.) Gott, es ist mein rechter Ernst; ich will singen und dichten, meine Ehre auch.

A Song, a Psalm of David. Prepared is my heart, O God, I sing, yea, I sing praise, also my honour.

2 W ohlauf, Psalter und Harfe! Ich will in der Frühe auf sein.

Awake, psaltery and harp, I awake the dawn.

3 I ch will dir danken, HERR, unter den Völkern; ich will dir lobsingen unter den Leuten.

I thank Thee among peoples, O Jehovah, And I praise Thee among the nations.

4 D enn deine Gnade reicht, soweit der Himmel ist, und deine Wahrheit, soweit die Wolken gehen.

For great above the heavens Thy kindness, And unto the clouds Thy truth.

5 E rhebe dich, Gott, über den Himmel, und deine Ehre über alle Lande.

Be Thou exalted above the heavens, O God, And above all the earth Thy honour.

6 A uf daß deine lieben Freunde erledigt werden, hilf mit deiner Rechten und erhöre mich!

That Thy beloved ones may be delivered, Save Thy right hand, and answer us.

7 G ott redete in seinem Heiligtum, des bin ich froh, und will Sichem teilen und das Tal Sukkoth abmessen.

God hath spoken in His holiness: I exult, I apportion Shechem, And the valley of Succoth I measure,

8 G ilead ist mein, Manasse ist auch mein, und Ephraim ist die Macht meines Hauptes, Juda ist mein Zepter,

Mine Gilead, mine Manasseh, And Ephraim the strength of my head, Judah my lawgiver,

9 M oab ist mein Waschbecken, ich will meinen Schuh über Edom strecken, über die Philister will ich jauchzen.

Moab a pot for my washing, Upon Edom I cast my shoe, Over Philistia I shout habitually.

10 W er will mich führen in eine feste Stadt? Wer wird mich leiten bis nach Edom?

Who doth bring me in to the fenced city? Who hath led me unto Edom?

11 W irst du es nicht tun, Gott, der du uns verstößest und ziehest nicht aus, Gott, mit unserm Heer?

Hast not Thou, O God, cast us off? And Thou goest not out, O God, with our hosts!

12 S chaffe uns Beistand in der Not; denn Menschenhilfe ist nichts nütze.

Give to us help from adversity, And vain is the salvation of man.

13 M it Gott wollen wir Taten tun; er wird unsre Feinde untertreten.

In God we do mightily, And He doth tread down our adversaries!
