1 U nd Mose ging hin und redete diese Worte mit dem ganzen Israel

And Moses goeth and speaketh these words unto all Israel,

2 u nd sprach zu ihnen: Ich bin heute hundertundzwanzig Jahre alt; ich kann nicht mehr aus noch ein gehen; dazu hat der HERR zu mir gesagt: Du sollst nicht über diesen Jordan gehen.

and he saith unto them, `A son of a hundred and twenty years I to-day; I am not able any more to go out and to come in, and Jehovah hath said unto me, Thou dost not pass over this Jordan,

3 D er HERR, dein Gott, wird selber vor dir her gehen; er wird selber diese Völker vor dir her vertilgen, daß du ihr Land einnehmest. Josua, der soll vor dir hinübergehen, wie der HERR geredet hat.

`Jehovah thy God He is passing over before thee, He doth destroy these nations from before thee, and thou hast possessed them; Joshua -- he is passing over before thee as Jehovah hath spoken,

4 U nd der HERR wird ihnen tun, wie er getan hat Sihon und Og, den Königen der Amoriter, und ihrem Lande, welche er vertilgt hat.

and Jehovah hath done to them as he hath done to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorite, and to their land, whom He destroyed.

5 W enn sie nun der HERR vor euch dahingeben wird, so sollt ihr ihnen tun nach allem Gebot, das ich euch geboten habe.

And Jehovah hath given them before your face, and ye have done to them according to all the command which I have commanded you;

6 S eid getrost und unverzagt, fürchtet euch nicht und laßt euch nicht vor ihnen grauen; denn der HERR, dein Gott, wird selber mit dir wandeln und wird die Hand nicht abtun noch dich verlassen.

be strong and courageous, fear not, nor be terrified because of them, for Jehovah thy God He who is going with thee; He doth not fail thee nor forsake thee.'

7 U nd Mose rief zu Josua und sprach zu ihm vor den Augen des ganzen Israel: Sei getrost und unverzagt; denn du wirst dies Volk in das Land bringen, das der HERR ihren Vätern geschworen hat ihnen zu geben, und du wirst es unter sie austeilen.

And Moses calleth for Joshua, and saith unto him before the eyes of all Israel, `Be strong and courageous, for thou -- thou dost go in with this people unto the land which Jehovah hath sworn to their fathers to give to them, and thou -- thou dost cause them to inherit it;

8 D er HERR aber, der selber vor euch her geht, der wird mit dir sein und wird die Hand nicht abtun noch dich verlassen. Fürchte dich nicht und erschrick nicht.

and Jehovah He who is going before thee, He himself is with thee; He doth not fail thee nor forsake thee; fear not, nor be affrighted.'

9 U nd Mose schrieb dies Gesetz und gab's den Priestern, den Kindern Levi, die die Lade des Bundes trugen, und allen Ältesten Israels

And Moses writeth this law, and giveth it unto the priests (sons of Levi, those bearing the ark of the covenant of Jehovah), and unto all the elders of Israel,

10 u nd gebot ihnen und sprach: Je nach sieben Jahren, zur Zeit des Erlaßjahrs, am Fest der Laubhütten,

and Moses commandeth them, saying, `At the end of seven years, in the appointed time, the year of release, in the feast of booths,

11 w enn das ganze Israel kommt, zu erscheinen vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, an dem Ort, den er erwählen wird, sollst du dieses Gesetz vor dem ganzen Israel ausrufen lassen vor ihren Ohren,

in the coming in of all Israel to see the face of Jehovah in the place which He chooseth, thou dost proclaim this law before all Israel, in their ears.

12 n ämlich vor der Versammlung des Volks (der Männer, Weiber und Kinder und deines Fremdlings, der in deinem Tor ist), auf daß sie es hören und lernen den HERRN, euren Gott, fürchten und es zu halten, daß sie tun alle Worte dieses Gesetzes,

`Assemble the people, the men, and the women, and the infants, and thy sojourner who within thy gates, so that they hear, and so that they learn, and have feared Jehovah your God, and observed to do all the words of this law;

13 u nd daß ihre Kinder, die es nicht wissen, es auch hören und lernen den HERRN, euren Gott, fürchten alle Tage, die ihr in dem Lande lebt, darein ihr gehet über den Jordan, es einzunehmen.

and their sons, who have not known, do hear, and have learned to fear Jehovah your God all the days which ye are living on the ground whither ye are passing over the Jordan to possess it.'

14 U nd der HERR sprach zu Mose: Siehe, deine Zeit ist herbeigekommen, daß du stirbst. Rufe Josua und tretet in die Hütte des Stifts, daß ich ihm Befehl tue. Mose ging hin mit Josua, und sie traten in die Hütte des Stifts.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Lo, thy days have drawn near to die; call Joshua, and station yourselves in the tent of meeting, and I charge him;' and Moses goeth -- Joshua also -- and they station themselves in the tent of meeting,

15 D er HERR aber erschien in der Hütte in einer Wolkensäule, und die Wolkensäule stand in der Hütte Tür.

and Jehovah is seen in the tent, in a pillar of a cloud; and the pillar of the cloud standeth at the opening of the tent.

16 U nd der HERR sprach zu Mose: Siehe, du wirst schlafen mit deinen Vätern; und dies Volk wird aufkommen und wird abfallen zu fremden Göttern des Landes, darein sie kommen, und wird mich verlassen und den Bund fahren lassen, den ich mit ihm gemacht habe.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Lo, thou art lying down with thy fathers, and this people hath risen, and gone a-whoring after the gods of the stranger of the land into the midst of which it hath entered, and forsaken Me, and broken My covenant which I made with it;

17 S o wird mein Zorn ergrimmen über sie zur selben Zeit, und ich werde sie verlassen und mein Antlitz vor ihnen verbergen, daß sie verzehrt werden. Und wenn sie dann viel Unglück und Angst treffen wird, werden sie sagen: Hat mich nicht dies Übel alles betreten, weil mein Gott nicht mit mir ist?

and Mine anger hath burned against it in that day, and I have forsaken them, and hidden My face from them, and it hath been for consumption, and many evils and distresses have found it, and it hath said in that day, Is it not because that my God is not in my midst -- these evils have found me?

18 I ch aber werde mein Antlitz verbergen zu der Zeit um alles Bösen willen, das sie getan haben, daß sie sich zu andern Göttern gewandt haben.

and I certainly hide My face in that day for all the evil which it hath done, for it hath turned unto other gods.

19 S o schreibt euch nun dies Lied und lehret es die Kinder Israel und legt es in ihren Mund, daß mir das Lied ein Zeuge sei unter den Kindern Israel.

`And now, write for you this song, and teach it the sons of Israel; put it in their mouths, so that this song is to Me for a witness against the sons of Israel,

20 D enn ich will sie in das Land bringen, das ich ihren Vätern geschworen habe, darin Milch und Honig fließt. Und wenn sie essen und satt und fett werden, so werden sie sich wenden zu andern Göttern und ihnen dienen und mich lästern und meinen Bund fahren lassen.

and I bring them in unto the ground which I have sworn to their fathers -- flowing with milk and honey, and they have eaten, and been satisfied, and been fat, and have turned unto other gods, and they have served them, and despised Me, and broken My covenant.

21 U nd wenn sie dann viel Unglück und Angst betreten wird, so soll dieses Lied ihnen antworten zum Zeugnis; denn es soll nicht vergessen werden aus dem Mund ihrer Nachkommen. Denn ich weiß ihre Gedanken, mit denen sie schon jetzt umgehen, ehe ich sie in das Land bringe, das ich geschworen habe.

`And it hath been, when many evils and distresses do meet it, that this song hath testified to its face for a witness; for it is not forgotten out of the mouth of its seed, for I have known its imagining which it is doing to-day, before I bring them in unto the land of which I have sworn.'

22 A lso schrieb Mose dieses Lied zur selben Zeit und lehrte es die Kinder Israel.

And Moses writeth this song on that day, and doth teach it the sons of Israel,

23 U nd befahl Josua, dem Sohn Nuns, und sprach: Sei getrost und unverzagt; denn du sollst die Kinder Israel in das Land führen, das ich ihnen geschworen habe, und ich will mit dir sein.

and He commandeth Joshua son of Nun, and saith, `Be strong and courageous, for thou dost bring in the sons of Israel unto the land which I have sworn to them, and I -- I am with thee.'

24 D a nun Mose die Worte dieses Gesetzes ganz ausgeschrieben hatte in ein Buch,

And it cometh to pass, when Moses finisheth to write the words of this law on a book till their completion,

25 g ebot er den Leviten, die die Lade des Zeugnisses des HERRN trugen, und sprach:

that Moses commandeth the Levites bearing the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, saying,

26 N ehmt das Buch dieses Gesetzes und legt es an die Seite der Lade des Bundes des HERRN, eures Gottes, daß es daselbst ein Zeuge sei wider dich.

`Take this Book of the Law, and thou hast set it on the side of the ark of the covenant of Jehovah your God, and it hath been there against thee for a witness;

27 D enn ich kenne deinen Ungehorsam und deine Halsstarrigkeit. Siehe, wo ich noch heute mit euch lebe, seid ihr ungehorsam gewesen wider den HERRN; wie viel mehr nach meinem Tode!

for I -- I have known thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck; lo, in my being yet alive with you to-day, rebellious ye have been with Jehovah, and also surely after my death.

28 S o versammelt nun vor mich alle Ältesten eurer Stämme und eure Amtleute, daß ich diese Worte vor ihren Ohren rede und Himmel und Erde wider sie zu Zeugen nehme.

`Assemble unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your authorities, and I speak in their ears these words, and cause to testify against them the heavens and the earth,

29 D enn ich weiß, daß ihr's nach meinem Tode verderben werdet und aus dem Wege treten, den ich euch geboten habe. So wird euch dann Unglück begegnen hernach, darum daß ihr übel getan habt vor den Augen des HERRN, daß ihr ihn erzürntet durch eurer Hände Werk.

for I have known that after my death ye do very corruptly, and have turned aside out of the way which I commanded you, and evil hath met you in the latter end of the days, because ye do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, to make Him angry with the work of your hands.'

30 A lso redete Mose die Worte dieses Liedes ganz aus vor den Ohren der ganzen Gemeinde Israel:

And Moses speaketh in the ears of all the assembly of Israel the words of this song, till their completion: --
