1 H öret mir zu, ihr Inseln, und ihr Völker in der Ferne, merket auf! Der HERR hat mich gerufen von Mutterleib an; er hat meines Namens gedacht, da ich noch im Schoß der Mutter war,

Hearken, O isles, unto me, And attend, O peoples, from afar, Jehovah from the womb hath called me, From the bowels of my mother He hath made mention of my name.

2 u nd hat meinen Mund gemacht wie ein scharfes Schwert; mit dem Schatten seiner Hand hat er mich bedeckt; er hat mich zum glatten Pfeil gemacht und mich in seinen Köcher gesteckt

And he maketh my mouth as a sharp sword, In the shadow of His hand He hath hid me, And He maketh me for a clear arrow, In His quiver He hath hid me.

3 u nd spricht zu mir: Du bist mein Knecht Israel, durch welchen ich will gepriesen werden.

And He saith to me, `My servant Thou art, O Israel, In whom I beautify Myself.'

4 I ch aber dachte, ich arbeite vergeblich und brächte meine Kraft umsonst und unnütz zu, wiewohl meine Sache des Herrn und mein Amt meines Gottes ist.

And I said, `For a vain thing I laboured, For emptiness and vanity my power I consumed, But my judgment with Jehovah, And my wage with my God.

5 U nd nun spricht der HERR, der mich von Mutterleib an zu seinem Knechte bereitet hat, daß ich soll Jakob zu ihm bekehren, auf daß Israel nicht weggerafft werde (darum bin ich dem HERRN herrlich, und mein Gott ist mein Stärke),

And now, said Jehovah, who is forming me from the belly for a servant to Him, To bring back Jacob unto Him, (Though Israel is not gathered, Yet I am honoured in the eyes of Jehovah, And my God hath been my strength.)

6 u nd spricht: Es ist ein Geringes, daß du mein Knecht bist, die Stämme Jakobs aufzurichten und die Bewahrten Israels wiederzubringen; sondern ich habe dich auch zum Licht der Heiden gemacht, daß du seist mein Heil bis an der Welt Ende.

And He saith, `It hath been a light thing That thou art to Me for a servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob, And the preserved of Israel to bring back, And I have given thee for a light of nations, To be My salvation unto the end of the earth.'

7 S o spricht der HERR, der Erlöser Israels, sein Heiliger, zu der verachteten Seele, zu dem Volk, das man verabscheut, zu dem Knecht, der unter den Tyrannen ist: Könige sollen sehen und aufstehen, und Fürsten sollen niederfallen um des HERRN willen, der treu ist, um des Heiligen in Israel willen, der dich erwählt hat.

Thus said Jehovah, Redeemer of Israel, His Holy One, To the despised in soul, To the abominated of a nation, To the servant of rulers: `Kings see, and have risen, princes, and worship, For the sake of Jehovah, who is faithful, The Holy of Israel, and He chooseth thee.'

8 S o spricht der HERR: Ich habe dich erhört zur gnädigen Zeit und habe dir am Tage des Heils geholfen und habe dich behütet und zum Bund unter das Volk gestellt, daß du das Land aufrichtest und die verstörten Erbe austeilest;

Thus said Jehovah: `In a time of good pleasure I answered thee, And in a day of salvation I helped thee, And I keep thee, and give thee, For a covenant of the people, To establish the earth, To cause to inherit desolate inheritances.

9 z u sagen den Gefangenen: Geht heraus! und zu denen in der Finsternis: Kommt hervor! daß sie am Wege weiden und auf allen Hügeln ihr Weide haben.

To say to the bound, Go out, To those in darkness, Be uncovered. On the ways they feed, And in all high places is their pasture.

10 S ie werden weder hungern noch dürsten, sie wird keine Hitze noch Sonne stechen, denn ihr Erbarmer wird sie führen und wird sie an die Wasserquellen leiten.

They do not hunger, nor thirst, Nor smite them doth mirage and sun, For He who is pitying them doth lead them, And by fountains of waters doth tend them.

11 I ch will alle meine Berge zum Wege machen, und meine Pfade sollen gebahnt sein.

And I have made all My mountains for a way, And My highways are lifted up.

12 S iehe, diese werden von ferne kommen, und siehe, jene von Mitternacht und diese vom Meer und jene von Lande Sinim.

Lo, these from afar come in, And lo, these from the north, and from the sea, And these from the land of Sinim.

13 J auchzet, ihr Himmel, freue dich, Erde, lobet, ihr Berge, mit Jauchzen; denn der HERR hat sein Volk getröstet und erbarmt sich seiner Elenden.

Sing, O heavens, and joy, O earth, And break forth, O mountains, with singing, For comforted hath Jehovah His people, And His afflicted ones He doth pity.

14 Z ion aber spricht: Der HERR hat mich verlassen, der HERR hat mein vergessen.

And Zion saith, `Jehovah hath forsaken me, And my Lord hath forgotten me.'

15 K ann auch ein Weib ihres Kindleins vergessen, daß sie sich nicht erbarme über den Sohn ihres Leibes? Und ob sie desselben vergäße, so will ich doch dein nicht vergessen.

Forget doth a woman her suckling, The loved one -- the son of her womb? Yea, these forget -- but I -- I forget not thee.

16 S iehe, in die Hände habe ich dich gezeichnet; deine Mauern sind immerdar vor mir.

Lo, on the palms of the hand I have graven thee, Thy walls before Me continually.

17 D eine Baumeister werden eilen; aber deine Zerbrecher und Verstörer werden sich davonmachen.

Hastened have those building thee, Those destroying thee, and laying thee waste, go out from thee.

18 H ebe deine Augen auf umher und siehe: alle diese kommen versammelt zu dir. So wahr ich lebe, spricht der HERR, du sollst mit diesen allen wie mit einem Schmuck angetan werden und wirst sie um dich legen wie eine Braut.

Lift up round about thine eyes and see, All of them have been gathered, They have come to thee. I live, an affirmation of Jehovah! Surely all of them as an ornament thou puttest on, And thou bindest them on like a bride.

19 D enn dein wüstes, verstörtes und zerbrochenes Land wird dir alsdann zu eng werden, darin zu wohnen, wenn deine Verderber fern von dir weichen,

Because thy wastes, and thy desolate places, And the land of thy ruins, Surely now are straitened because of inhabitants, And far off have been those consuming thee.

20 d aß die Kinder deiner Unfruchtbarkeit werden noch sagen vor deinen Ohren: Der Raum ist mir zu eng; rücke hin, daß ich bei dir wohnen möge.

Again do the sons of thy bereavement say in thine ears: `The place is too strait for me, Come nigh to me -- and I dwell.'

21 D u aber wirst sagen in deinem Herzen: Wer hat mir diese geboren? Ich war unfruchtbar, einsam, vertrieben und verstoßen. Wer hat mir diese erzogen? Siehe, ich war allein gelassen; wo waren denn diese?

And thou hast said in thy heart: `Who hath begotten for me -- these? And I bereaved and gloomy, A captive, and turned aside, And these -- who hath nourished? Lo, I -- I was left by myself, these -- whence they?

22 S o spricht der HERR HERR: Siehe, ich will meine Hand zu den Heiden aufheben und zu den Völkern mein Panier aufwerfen; so werden sie deine Söhne in den Armen herzubringen und deine Töchter auf den Achseln hertragen.

Thus said the Lord Jehovah: `Lo, I lift up unto nations My hand, And unto peoples I raise up Mine ensign, And they have brought thy sons in the bosom, And thy daughters on the shoulder are carried.

23 U nd Könige sollen deine Pfleger, und ihre Fürstinnen deine Säugammen sein; sie werden vor dir niederfallen zur Erde aufs Angesicht und deiner Füße Staub lecken. Da wirst du erfahren, daß ich der HERR bin, an welchem nicht zu Schanden werden, die auf mich harren.

And kings have been thy nursing fathers, And their princesses thy nursing mothers; Face to the earth -- they bow down to thee, And the dust of thy feet they lick up, And thou hast known that I Jehovah, That those expecting Me are not ashamed.

24 K ann man auch einem Riesen den Raub nehmen? oder kann man dem Gerechten seine Gefangenen losmachen?

Is prey taken from the mighty? And the captive of the righteous delivered?

25 D enn so spricht der HERR: Nun sollen die Gefangenen dem Riesen genommen werden und der Raub des Starken los werden; und ich will mit deinen Haderern hadern und deinen Kindern helfen.

For thus said Jehovah: Even the captive of the mighty is taken, And the prey of the terrible is delivered, And with thy striver I strive, and thy sons I save.

26 U nd ich will deine Schinder speisen mit ihrem eigenen Fleisch, und sie sollen von ihrem eigenen Blut wie von süßem Wein trunken werden; und alles Fleisch soll erfahren, daß ich bin der HERR, dein Heiland, und dein Erlöser der Mächtige in Jakob.

And I have caused thine oppressors to eat their own flesh, And as new wine they drink their own blood, And known have all flesh that I, Jehovah, Thy saviour, and thy redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob!'
