1 J udas, ein Knecht Jesu Christi, ein Bruder aber des Jakobus, den Berufenen, die da geheiligt sind in Gott, dem Vater, und bewahrt in Jesu Christo:

Judas, of Jesus Christ a servant, and brother of James, to those sanctified in God the Father, and in Jesus Christ kept -- called,

2 G ott gebe euch viel Barmherzigkeit und Frieden und Liebe!

kindness to you, and peace, and love, be multiplied!

3 I hr Lieben, nachdem ich vorhatte, euch zu schreiben von unser aller Heil, hielt ich's für nötig, euch mit Schriften zu ermahnen, daß ihr für den Glauben kämpfet, der einmal den Heiligen übergeben ist.

Beloved, all diligence using to write to you concerning the common salvation, I had necessity to write to you, exhorting to agonize for the faith once delivered to the saints,

4 D enn es sind etliche Menschen nebeneingeschlichen, von denen vorzeiten geschrieben ist solches Urteil: Die sind Gottlose, ziehen die Gnade unsers Gottes auf Mutwillen und verleugnen Gott und unsern HERRN Jesus Christus, den einigen Herrscher.

for there did come in unobserved certain men, long ago having been written beforehand to this judgment, impious, the grace of our God perverting to lasciviousness, and our only Master, God, and Lord -- Jesus Christ -- denying,

5 I ch will euch aber erinnern, die ihr dies ja schon wisset, daß der HERR, da er dem Volk aus Ägypten half, das andere Mal umbrachte, die da nicht glaubten.

and to remind you I intend, you knowing once this, that the Lord, a people out of the land of Egypt having saved, again those who did not believe did destroy;

6 A uch die Engel, die ihr Fürstentum nicht bewahrten, sondern verließen ihre Behausung, hat er behalten zum Gericht des großen Tages mit ewigen Banden in der Finsternis.

messengers also, those who did not keep their own principality, but did leave their proper dwelling, to a judgment of a great day, in bonds everlasting, under darkness He hath kept,

7 W ie auch Sodom und Gomorra und die umliegenden Städte, die gleicherweise wie diese Unzucht getrieben haben und nach einem andern Fleisch gegangen sind, zum Beispiel gesetzt sind und leiden des ewigen Feuers Pein.

as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them, in like manner to these, having given themselves to whoredom, and gone after other flesh, have been set before -- an example, of fire age-during, justice suffering.

8 D esgleichen sind auch diese Träumer, die das Fleisch beflecken, die Herrschaft aber verachten und die Majestäten lästern.

In like manner, nevertheless, those dreaming also the flesh indeed do defile, and lordship they put away, and dignities they speak evil of,

9 M ichael aber, der Erzengel, da er mit dem Teufel stritt und mit ihm redete über den Leichnam Mose's, wagte er das Urteil der Lästerung nicht zu fällen, sondern sprach: Der HERR strafe dich!

yet Michael, the chief messenger, when, with the devil contending, he was disputing about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring up an evil-speaking judgment, but said, `The Lord rebuke thee!'

10 D iese aber lästern alles, davon sie nichts wissen; was sie aber natürlich erkennen wie die unvernünftigen Tiere, darin verderben sie.

and these, as many things indeed as they have not known, they speak evil of; and as many things as naturally (as the irrational beasts) they understand, in these they are corrupted;

11 W eh ihnen! denn sie gehen den Weg Kains und fallen in den Irrtum des Bileam um Gewinnes willen und kommen um in dem Aufruhr Korahs.

wo to them! because in the way of Cain they did go on, and to the deceit of Balaam for reward they did rush, and in the gainsaying of Korah they did perish.

12 D iese Unfläter prassen bei euren Liebesmahlen ohne Scheu, weiden sich selbst; sie sind Wolken ohne Wasser, von dem Winde umgetrieben, kahle, unfruchtbare Bäume, zweimal erstorben und ausgewurzelt,

These are in your love-feasts craggy rocks; feasting together with you, without fear shepherding themselves; clouds without water, by winds carried about; trees autumnal, without fruit, twice dead, rooted up;

13 w ilde Wellen des Meeres, die ihre eigene Schande ausschäumen, irre Sterne, welchen behalten ist das Dunkel der Finsternis in Ewigkeit.

wild waves of a sea, foaming out their own shames; stars going astray, to whom the gloom of the darkness to the age hath been kept.

14 E s hat aber auch von solchen geweissagt Henoch, der siebente von Adam, und gesprochen: "Siehe, der HERR kommt mit vielen tausend Heiligen,

And prophesy also to these did the seventh from Adam -- Enoch -- saying, `Lo, the Lord did come in His saintly myriads,

15 G ericht zu halten über alle und zu strafen alle Gottlosen um alle Werke ihres gottlosen Wandels, womit sie gottlos gewesen sind, und um all das Harte, das die gottlosen Sünder wider ihn geredet haben."

to do judgment against all, and to convict all their impious ones, concerning all their works of impiety that they did impiously, and concerning all the stiff things that speak against Him did impious sinners.'

16 D iese murren und klagen immerdar und wandeln dabei nach ihren Lüsten; und ihr Mund redet stolze Worte, und achten das Ansehen der Person um Nutzens willen.

These are murmurers, repiners; according to their desires walking, and their mouth doth speak great swellings, giving admiration to persons for the sake of profit;

17 I hr aber, meine Lieben, erinnert euch der Worte, die zuvor gesagt sind von den Aposteln unsers HERRN Jesu Christi,

and ye, beloved, remember ye the sayings spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ:

18 d a sie euch sagten, daß zu der letzten Zeit werden Spötter sein, die nach ihren eigenen Lüsten des gottlosen Wesens wandeln.

that they said to you, that in the last time there shall be scoffers, after their own desires of impieties going on,

19 D iese sind es, die da Trennungen machen, Fleischliche, die da keinen Geist haben.

these are those setting themselves apart, natural men, the Spirit not having.

20 I hr aber, meine Lieben, erbauet euch auf euren allerheiligsten Glauben durch den heiligen Geist und betet,

And ye, beloved, on your most holy faith building yourselves up, in the Holy Spirit praying,

21 u nd erhaltet euch in der Liebe Gottes, und wartet auf die Barmherzigkeit unsers HERRN Jesu Christi zum ewigen Leben.

yourselves in the love of God keep ye, waiting for the kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ -- to life age-during;

22 U nd haltet diesen Unterschied, daß ihr euch etlicher erbarmet,

and to some be kind, judging thoroughly,

23 e tliche aber mit Furcht selig machet und rücket sie aus dem Feuer; und hasset auch den Rock, der vom Fleische befleckt ist.

and some in fear save ye, out of the fire snatching, hating even the coat from the flesh spotted.

24 D em aber, der euch kann behüten ohne Fehl und stellen vor das Angesicht seiner Herrlichkeit unsträflich mit Freuden,

And to Him who is able to guard you not stumbling, and to set in the presence of His glory unblemished, in gladness,

25 d em Gott, der allein weise ist, unserm Heiland, sei Ehre und Majestät und Gewalt und Macht nun und zu aller Ewigkeit! Amen.

to the only wise God our Saviour, glory and greatness, power and authority, both now and to all the ages! Amen.
