1 P asadas estas cosas, aconteció que Nabot de Jezreel tenía allí una viña junto al palacio de Acab rey de Samaria.

And it cometh to pass, after these things, a vineyard hath been to Naboth the Jezreelite, that in Jezreel, near the palace of Ahab king of Samaria,

2 Y Acab habló a Nabot, diciendo: Dame tu viña para un huerto de legumbres, porque está cercana a mi casa, y yo te daré por ella otra viña mejor que esta; o si mejor te pareciere, te pagaré su valor en dinero.

and Ahab speaketh unto Naboth, saying, `Give to me thy vineyard, and it is to me for a garden of green herbs, for it near by my house, and I give to thee in its stead a better vineyard than it; if good in thine eyes, I give to thee silver -- its price.'

3 Y Nabot respondió a Acab: Guárdeme Jehová de que yo te dé a ti la heredad de mis padres.

And Naboth saith unto Ahab, `Far be it from me, by Jehovah, my giving the inheritance of my fathers to thee;'

4 Y vino Acab a su casa triste y enojado, por la palabra que Nabot de Jezreel le había respondido, diciendo: No te daré la heredad de mis padres. Y se acostó en su cama, y volvió su rostro, y no comió.

and Ahab cometh in unto his house, sulky and wroth, because of the word that Naboth the Jezreelite hath spoken unto him when he saith, `I do not give to thee the inheritance of my fathers,' and he lieth down on his bed, and turneth round his face, and hath not eaten bread.

5 V ino a él su mujer Jezabel, y le dijo: ¿Por qué está tan decaído tu espíritu, y no comes?

And Jezebel his wife cometh in unto him, and speaketh unto him, `What this? -- thy spirit sulky, and thou art not eating bread!'

6 E l respondió: Porque hablé con Nabot de Jezreel, y le dije que me diera su viña por dinero, o que si más quería, le daría otra viña por ella; y él respondió: Yo no te daré mi viña.

And he saith unto her, `Because I speak unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and say to him, Give to me thy vineyard for money, or if thou desire, I give to thee a vineyard in its stead; and he saith, I do not give to thee my vineyard.'

7 Y su mujer Jezabel le dijo: ¿Eres tú ahora rey sobre Israel? Levántate, y come y alégrate; yo te daré la viña de Nabot de Jezreel.

And Jezebel his wife saith unto him, `Thou now dost execute rule over Israel! rise, eat bread, and let thy heart be glad, -- I do give to thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.'

8 E ntonces ella escribió cartas en nombre de Acab, y las selló con su anillo, y las envió a los ancianos y a los principales que moraban en la ciudad con Nabot.

And she writeth letters in the name of Ahab, and sealeth with his seal, and sendeth the letters unto the elders, and unto the freemen, who are in his city, those dwelling with Naboth,

9 Y las cartas que escribió decían así: Proclamad ayuno, y poned a Nabot delante del pueblo;

and she writeth in the letters, saying, `Proclaim a fast, and cause Naboth to sit at the head of the people,

10 y poned a dos hombres perversos delante de él, que atestig: uen contra él y digan: Tú has blasfemado a Dios y al rey. Y entonces sacadlo, y apedreadlo para que muera.

and cause two men -- sons of worthlessness -- to sit over-against him, and they testify of him, saying, Thou hast blessed God and Melech; and they have brought him out, and stoned him, and he dieth.'

11 Y los de su ciudad, los ancianos y los principales que moraban en su ciudad, hicieron como Jezabel les mandó, conforme a lo escrito en las cartas que ella les había enviado.

And the men of his city, the elders and the freemen who are dwelling in his city, do as Jezebel hath sent unto them, as written in the letters that she sent unto them,

12 Y promulgaron ayuno, y pusieron a Nabot delante del pueblo.

they have proclaimed a fast, and caused Naboth to sit at the head of the people,

13 V inieron entonces dos hombres perversos, y se sentaron delante de él; y aquellos hombres perversos atestiguaron contra Nabot delante del pueblo, diciendo: Nabot ha blasfemado a Dios y al rey. Y lo llevaron fuera de la ciudad y lo apedrearon, y murió.

and two men -- sons of worthlessness -- come in, and sit over-against him, and the men of worthlessness testify of him, even Naboth, before the people, saying, `Naboth blessed God and Melech;' and they take him out to the outside of the city, and stone him with stones, and he dieth;

14 D espués enviaron a decir a Jezabel: Nabot ha sido apedreado y ha muerto.

and they send unto Jezebel, saying, `Naboth was stoned, and is dead.'

15 C uando Jezabel oyó que Nabot había sido apedreado y muerto, dijo a Acab: Levántate y toma la viña de Nabot de Jezreel, que no te la quiso dar por dinero; porque Nabot no vive, sino que ha muerto.

And it cometh to pass, at Jezebel's hearing that Naboth hath been stoned, and is dead, that Jezebel saith unto Ahab, `Rise, possess the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, that he refused to give to thee for money, for Naboth is not alive but dead.'

16 Y oyendo Acab que Nabot era muerto, se levantó para descender a la viña de Nabot de Jezreel, para tomar posesión de ella.

And it cometh to pass, at Ahab's hearing that Naboth is dead, that Ahab riseth to go down unto the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to possess it.

17 E ntonces vino palabra de Jehová a Elías tisbita, diciendo:

And the word of Jehovah is unto Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

18 L evántate, desciende a encontrarte con Acab rey de Israel, que está en Samaria; he aquí él está en la viña de Nabot, a la cual ha descendido para tomar posesión de ella.

`Rise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, who in Samaria, -- lo, in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he hath gone down to possess it,

19 Y le hablarás diciendo: Así ha dicho Jehová: ¿No mataste, y también has despojado? Y volverás a hablarle, diciendo: Así ha dicho Jehová: En el mismo lugar donde lamieron los perros la sangre de Nabot, los perros lamerán también tu sangre, tu misma sangre.

and thou hast spoken unto him, saying, Thus said Jehovah, Hast thou murdered, and also possessed? and thou hast spoken unto him, saying, Thus said Jehovah, In the place where the dogs licked the blood of Naboth, do the dogs lick thy blood, even thine.'

20 Y Acab dijo a Elías: ¿Me has hallado, enemigo mío? El respondió: Te he encontrado, porque te has vendido a hacer lo malo delante de Jehová.

And Ahab saith unto Elijah, `Hast thou found me, O mine enemy?' and he saith, `I have found -- because of thy selling thyself to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah;

21 H e aquí yo traigo mal sobre ti, y barreré tu posteridad y destruiré hasta el último varón de la casa de Acab, tanto el siervo como el libre en Israel.

lo, I am bringing in unto thee evil, and have taken away thy posterity, and cut off to Ahab those sitting on the wall, and restrained, and left, in Israel,

22 Y pondré tu casa como la casa de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, y como la casa de Baasa hijo de Ahías, por la rebelión con que me provocaste a ira, y con que has hecho pecar a Israel.

and given up thy house like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah, for the provocation with which thou hast provoked, and dost cause Israel to sin.

23 D e Jezabel también ha hablado Jehová, diciendo: Los perros comerán a Jezabel en el muro de Jezreel.

`And also of Jezebel hath Jehovah spoken, saying, The dogs do eat Jezebel in the bulwark of Jezreel;

24 E l que de Acab fuere muerto en la ciudad, los perros lo comerán, y el que fuere muerto en el campo, lo comerán las aves del cielo.

him who dieth of Ahab in a city do the dogs eat, and him who dieth in a field do fowl of the heavens eat;

25 ( A la verdad ninguno fue como Acab, que se vendió para hacer lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová; porque Jezabel su mujer lo incitaba.

surely there hath none been like Ahab, who sold himself to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, whom Jezebel his wife hath moved,

26 E l fue en gran manera abominable, caminando en pos de los ídolos, conforme a todo lo que hicieron los amorreos, a los cuales lanzó Jehová de delante de los hijos de Israel.)

and he doth very abominably to go after the idols, according to all that the Amorite did whom Jehovah dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel.'

27 Y sucedió que cuando Acab oyó estas palabras, rasgó sus vestidos y puso cilicio sobre su carne, ayunó, y durmió en cilicio, y anduvo humillado.

And it cometh to pass, at Ahab's hearing these words, that he rendeth his garments, and putteth sackcloth on his flesh, and fasteth, and lieth in sackcloth, and goeth gently.

28 E ntonces vino palabra de Jehová a Elías tisbita, diciendo:

And the word of Jehovah is unto Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

29 ¿ No has visto cómo Acab se ha humillado delante de mí? Pues por cuanto se ha humillado delante de mí, no traeré el mal en sus días; en los días de su hijo traeré el mal sobre su casa.

`Hast thou seen that Ahab hath been humbled before Me? because that he hath been humbled before Me, I bring not in the evil in his days; in the days of his son I bring in the evil on his house.'
