1 T hen Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple.
And having gone forth, Jesus departed from the temple, and his disciples came near to show him the buildings of the temple,
2 A nd Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age
and Jesus said to them, `Do ye not see all these? verily I say to you, There may not be left here a stone upon a stone, that shall not be thrown down.'
3 N ow as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
And when he is sitting on the mount of the Olives, the disciples came near to him by himself, saying, `Tell us, when shall these be? and what the sign of thy presence, and of the full end of the age?'
4 A nd Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.
And Jesus answering said to them, `Take heed that no one may lead you astray,
5 F or many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.
for many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and they shall lead many astray,
6 A nd you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
and ye shall begin to hear of wars, and reports of wars; see, be not troubled, for it behoveth all to come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 F or nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.
`For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places;
8 A ll these are the beginning of sorrows.
and all these the beginning of sorrows;
9 “ Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.
then they shall deliver you up to tribulation, and shall kill you, and ye shall be hated by all the nations because of my name;
10 A nd then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.
and then shall many be stumbled, and they shall deliver up one another, and shall hate one another.
11 T hen many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.
`And many false prophets shall arise, and shall lead many astray;
12 A nd because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.
and because of the abounding of the lawlessness, the love of the many shall become cold;
13 B ut he who endures to the end shall be saved.
but he who did endure to the end, he shall be saved;
14 A nd this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. The Great Tribulation
and this good news of the reign shall be proclaimed in all the world, for a testimony to all the nations; and then shall the end arrive.
15 “ Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand),
`Whenever, therefore, ye may see the abomination of the desolation, that was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (whoever is reading let him observe)
16 “ then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
then those in Judea -- let them flee to the mounts;
17 L et him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house.
he on the house-top -- let him not come down to take up any thing out of his house;
18 A nd let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes.
and he in the field -- let him not turn back to take his garments.
19 B ut woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!
`And wo to those with child, and to those giving suck in those days;
20 A nd pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath.
and pray ye that your flight may not be in winter, nor on a sabbath;
21 F or then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.
for there shall be then great tribulation, such as was not from the beginning of the world till now, no, nor may be.
22 A nd unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.
And if those days were not shortened, no flesh would have been saved; but because of the chosen, shall those days be shortened.
23 “ Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it.
`Then if any one may say to you, Lo, here the Christ! or here! ye may not believe;
24 F or false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
for there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and they shall give great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, also the chosen.
25 S ee, I have told you beforehand.
Lo, I did tell you beforehand.
26 “ Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it.
`If therefore they may say to you, Lo, in the wilderness he is, ye may not go forth; lo, in the inner chambers, ye may not believe;
27 F or as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
for as the lightning doth come forth from the east, and doth appear unto the west, so shall be also the presence of the Son of Man;
28 F or wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together. The Coming of the Son of Man
for wherever the carcase may be, there shall the eagles be gathered together.
29 “ Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
`And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken;
30 T hen the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
and then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in the heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth smite the breast, and they shall see the Son of Man coming upon the clouds of the heaven, with power and much glory;
31 A nd He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. The Parable of the Fig Tree
and he shall send his messengers with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his chosen from the four winds, from the ends of the heavens unto the ends thereof.
32 “ Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.
`And from the fig-tree learn ye the simile: When already its branch may have become tender, and the leaves it may put forth, ye know that summer nigh,
33 S o you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!
so also ye, when ye may see all these, ye know that it is nigh -- at the doors.
34 A ssuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.
Verily I say to you, this generation may not pass away till all these may come to pass.
35 H eaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. No One Knows the Day or Hour
The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36 “ But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
`And concerning that day and the hour no one hath known -- not even the messengers of the heavens -- except my Father only;
37 B ut as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
and as the days of Noah -- so shall be also the presence of the Son of Man;
38 F or as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,
for as they were, in the days before the flood, eating, and drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage, till the day Noah entered into the ark,
39 a nd did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
and they did not know till the flood came and took all away; so shall be also the presence of the Son of Man.
40 T hen two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left.
Then two men shall be in the field, the one is received, and the one is left;
41 T wo women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left.
two women shall be grinding in the mill, one is received, and one is left.
42 W atch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.
`Watch ye therefore, because ye have not known in what hour your Lord doth come;
43 B ut know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.
and this know, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief doth come, he had watched, and not suffered his house to be broken through;
44 T herefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. The Faithful Servant and the Evil Servant
because of this also ye, become ye ready, because in what hour ye do not think, the Son of Man doth come.
45 “ Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season?
`Who, then, is the servant, faithful and wise, whom his lord did set over his household, to give them the nourishment in season?
46 B lessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing.
Happy that servant, whom his lord, having come, shall find doing so;
47 A ssuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods.
verily I say to you, that over all his substance he will set him.
48 B ut if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’
`And, if that evil servant may say in his heart, My Lord doth delay to come,
49 a nd begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards,
and may begin to beat the fellow-servants, and to eat and to drink with the drunken,
50 t he master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of,
the lord of that servant will arrive in a day when he doth not expect, and in an hour of which he doth not know,
51 a nd will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
and will cut him off, and his portion with the hypocrites will appoint; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.
